On a day when I rode with my husband to work for a job interview at the Chester Business Park, I had hours upon hours to waste until he was off work and we could head home.
As there isn't too much exciting to do at CBP, I opted for the walk into town to find a coffee shop (I know...surprised, aren't you?) and do some more job hunting.
I've always had somewhat of a fascination for old cemeteries, and like to stroll through just to see if I can find any ancestors (I do descend from King Edward I, many many lines removed). I know, this is far fetched, but it's entertaining for me.
Before crossing the walls of Chester, I noticed this huge cemetery flowing down the hill below me, and couldn't resist a stroll! Some of the headstones were quite impressive, and others were so old that it was hard to read the inscriptions.
What shocked me the most, though, were the random headstones laying alone way up the side of the hill, as if the people buried there were so uncared for that they were shoved into the recesses of the cemetery. It's a bit sad, but interesting at the same time.
I recommend taking a stroll through this cemetery, if you have time to spare. It's quiet, and gives you a break from seeing the same thing day to day. read more
