Upon booking they advised they don't sit afternoon tea until 4pm but as it was quiet they'd accommodate us at 2pm. We were brought into the front room where the real open fire was lighting and which looked out into the gardens. Unfortunately it was raining so we didn't walk around. The afternoon tea was gorgeous, a lovely treat, service & staff were lovely, didn't over crowd us and left us in peace to enjoy our treats! Most hotels offer shower only rooms after remodeling. Breakfast in the hotel was amazing; included fresh fruits and juices, the traditional Irish entrees or you could opt for pancakes. Every meal includes potatoes; good potatoes. Something special about this hotel is the lavender balm. I meant to request more before I left. You rub this on your wrists or neck before bed and it is supposed to relax you and promote better sleep. It smells so good.

We had one castle room and one carriage room for our stay. Both rooms were quaint and well maintained. The gardens around the property are gorgeous and wonderful to explore during nice weather. The only thing to note is that in off-season the main restaurant is only open on the weekends and the tea service is not available during the week. While we enjoyed the food at Hermione's, the day we stayed there was a group event closing the main restaurant so we had to eat in the bar area. Most of the activities are off the property which wasn't very clear as we approached the date of our stay. We ended up visiting the National Stud Farm (about 30 minutes drive) and the clay pigeon shooting (about 40 minutes drive). Highly recommend both activities and really appreciate the staff helping us arrange these activities. The downstairs bar area is open late with a delicious charcuterie and board games are available to use by the fireplace which was a fun way to spend the later evening hours. First impressions were not great this time- it advertised 10 carvery on a Sunday (small print until 4.30 and it was 6pm but no worries, 6pm is late for carvery) but that was ok as it had a €9 bar menu (advertised over the door ith no caveats). Got in, got menu-- nice selection and a €19.95 4 course but no sign of the €9 menu. We decided to have a starter anyway and it was a nice meal but we had to grab a recently vacated table to see the TV and even though the staff came over 5 times, no one wiped down the table which I thought was a bit slack, especially as they cleared it. Food was nice, and the staff were pleasant but it was a little slow, however I think this was down to a large group coming in late. Overall, decent spot but probably better at a quieter time.

The dinning room is very cozy and very well set up. Murphy's Hotel is located in the village of Tinahely , County Wickow. It should be noted I am originally from Dublin, Ireland, lived in the United States for over thirty years and served all over the world with the United States Marines all over the world.
