We had puppy 1-2-1's with Ami in 2016 and then went on to complete Puppy Foundation, Intermediate and Improver classes - our dog Luna (now 4yrs old) loved using her brain and we as owners learned a huge amount about the way dogs *really* think and learn; classes gave us fresh ideas on how we could motivate through play to build a strong bond and train through games so that training was enriching and something Luna enjoyed.
Ami uses 100% force-free methods and no negative reinforcement /positive punishment which is scientifically proven to be the most effective way to train a dog. dog training has come a long way in recent years and old-school dominance and fear based methodologies debunked. Unfortunatley the industry is still completely unregulated but CDS holds accreditations from recognised bodies (APDT) to assure dog owners of their up-to-date and constantly reviewed techniques.
Luna was quite barky in class to begin - she was fearful and alert. Ami told us how we could begin to change Luna's emotional association with things she was afraid of and allow her to build confidence through distance and choice - we have used and adapted these techniques for so many different scenarios... the knowledge has been priceless. Luna is now a well balanced, confident and friendly adult dog and has completed kc good citizen scheme with Cheshire Dog School.
In 2017 we adopted a fear reactive (barked and lunged at everyone) 15mnth old dog, Annie, who had never been socialised or house trained. Ami gave us a telephone consultation prior to Annie arriving which included advice on how to introduce a second dog and followed up with a home-visit once she had arrived to help us read body language and form a strategy to help Annie learn to cope. Annie completed CDS Adult beginners class and attended improver classes - she walks off lead in public places and has a large repertoire of tricks under her belt which she loves doing.
CDS is best suited for people who want to learn how to read and interact with dogs in order to get the best from a human-dog relationship. I can't bear to think the damage we might have done if we had used training advice from books or TV programs.
I can count on one hand the people I trust with my dogs and Ami is one of them. I cannot recommend her enough. read more
