We've had a lawn to be proud of for 20+ years. People who walk by our yard always comment on how great our lawn looks!! At the beginning of the year a detailed newsletter is sent explaining all the treatments available and you pick what you want to have done. With each treatment comes a detailed letter left at your front door explaining in detail what treatment was performed and why...these guys know their stuff! We feel very fortunate to have been referred to them by a neighbor when we moved to the area. In addition to their lawn care knowledge their customer service is above and beyond most companies. Any questions are answered immediately and an email is sent notifying you when they will be at your home for the next treatment. You'll also get alerts about rainfall and if extra watering is needed or not. Finally, when we had a tree cut down and needed to reseed an area...they even mailed us a bag of their top-quality seeds to use at at no charge! . I am one of the clients that Rob talks about on their website that has been with Chesapeake since the "early days". Please trust me when I tell you that they are a wonderful group of people with Rob, Greg, Abe, and Kathy in the office and an amazing crew of lawn nutrition tech applicators out in the field. The 4 or 5 people who unfairly gave them bad ratings because they don't understand simple math (their standard lawn nutrition program consists of 11 treatments throughout the year, and one receives 11 monthly bills (from January - November with NO bill in December) are missing out on having a lawn that is the envy of the neighborhood because of their negative attitude. I'm sure that if they really did not understand anything concerning billing that Rob and of the other office crew would have taken as much time as necessary to explain it to them. My lawn has no weeds. They aerate and seed for me each year. Their prices are fair, not the cheapest, but they use custom- blended products that cost more than the ones you can buy in stores. Our family has worked with Greg, Rob, and the hardworking crew at Chesapeake Lawn Science, since 2013. They've provided us with excellent service and advice, and always respond promptly to phone calls and emails. The company's pricing offers a menu of options, including a choice whether to pay on an ongoing basis as service is provided, or to pay in advance for a discount. We've chosen to pay in advance, but others can choose differently. Chesapeake was recommended to us by a landscaping company after two other nationally known lawn services weren't able to service our lawn because they couldn't keep track of our property's irregular boundaries. Chesapeake easily managed the boundaries. When we follow recommendations (which we do most of the time), our lawn looks as smooth as a golf course. We've been very satisfied with Chesapeake's service. Frankly, I'm having a hard time recognizing the same company I've worked with for 11 years in some of these reviews. read more

After using several lawn services whose reps would make promises but didn't deliver, I found Chesapeake Lawn Science. At the time I was at the outer edge of their covered territory, but I have never regretted making the move to them. This is a company that truly loves grass - my husband says they're obsessed with grass - and does its best to make sure their clients have beautiful and healthy lawns. My husband takes the credit whenever he receives one of the frequent compliments on our lawn from a neighbor (all he does is cut the grass) because it really is so beautiful. We choose the services at the beginning of the year and pay for them then, and don't have to think about it for a whole year. After every treatment we get a note instructing us how to best take care of the grass with regard to watering and cutting - the note is always full of valuable information. The team at Chesapeake is reliable and super informative about each treatment, leaving a flyer about what they applied and a reminder of proper mowing and watering needs. To have your lawn be the best it can be takes effort on all our parts and their direction really helps. Greg and Rob are great about answering any questions we have and even offer bonuses like some extra bulbs or a little firepit firewood they had leftover from their seasonal stock! I first noticed other yards when I would go on my walks that had CLS signs on them. They all looked green & plush. I then contacted Greg at CLS and was immediately put into their feeding schedule and rotation. That was 3 1/2 years ago and my lawn has been the envy of the neighborhood ever since. They even send informative newsletters that educate you on the science in Chesapeake Lawn Science. Adid to that, they even send thoughtful reminders about how long it's been since the last rainfall with reminders to water...how long & how often. They've also do the aeration & seeding for us. I have used just about every company possible over the last 24 years in my home and no-one does as good a job as Chesapeake Lawn Science. My lawn went from a disaster to starting to look like a golf course in just one year. These guys know how to take care of a lawn and it is the little things you notice like the lack of weeds by the warmer edges of your driveway. Their techs take the time to apply professionally. They give great suggestions on mowing, grass length etc. but I use a lawn service and can only do so much. Despite not following all the guidelines my lawn not only looks great but I get comments from neighbors. I can't recommend them highly enough. After spending years trying to get that perfect weed-free lawn, I finally gave up. Our neighbors had been using Chesapeake and had that perfect lawn that I wanted. Within a few days of requesting an estimate, Greg emailed a proposal to me. We selected the base package plus the crabgrass prevention to start. That fall we had them aerate, seed and apply their micorrhiza fertilizer. The results were stunning. I now have that perfect lawn. The grass is so thick and lush that we no longer require the crabgrass control. To save some money I now buy the micorrhiza from them and do the aeration myself. Great company and great results. I went to Chesapeake after noticing three separate lawns in my neighborhood two years ago that were very much above the standard. I asked what service they used and all three responded Chesapeake. After two years of service from Chesapeake Lawn Service, my yard was in great condition and has only gotten better over the ensuing years. Despite its dense growth, it needs less watering because I paid extra for the application of Mycorrhiza. I do my part -- mow frequently with a sharp blade. Don't cut it short, rake up leaves in the fall. But that's about it. They also will surprise me every now and then with a free treatment for being a good customer.
