There are many delights to be found along the coast of Cornwall, but I wasn't expecting a surfer's hangout. Known for their all day breakfast, if you can find parking along the shoulder, you will walk down a path to this casual little cafe. Keep descending and you wind up on Whitsand Bay. There are a number of tables outdoors to soak in the sun and enjoy the gorgeous views. The food was fine and service was average. But, the atmosphere was everything.

We managed to get a table inside, and decided on light snack of a teacake and to sample the Tregothnan tea (Cornish tea). The peppermint tea was light and refreshing, just perfect for a hot summer's day. The kitchen inside was a hive of activity, as more and more people descended on the tea rooms. We would have liked to sample more of the menu, but sadly we had a long journey ahead of us that day, but there's always the next time we visit Boscastle!

I asked for "Thunder and Lightning" cream tea. At first the waitress demurred a little as they apparently had only Golden Syrup treacle. But I insisted in a friendly fashion that it had to be black treacle or nothing. To everyone's delight she eventually produced a small dish of the precious black stuff and we tucked in. My friend was exceedingly impressed with the service, friendliness and sheer fun of the place.I was so impressed I am hoping to take a friend of mine who lives in Newlyn over there on Monday.I hope they will be open!

I always go for a vanilla milkshake, which is delicious. I very much enjoyed the cream tea and he ploughman's that I've had in different occasions. Food tastes great and they have generous portions. Only complaint would be to have umbrellas on all the outside tables in the hot, sunny weather, as it can be too hot to sit out under the blazing sun! Although I appreciate it's not always hot and sunny: we have just been lucky when we've visited! They cafe does not have its own toilets but that is not a problem as they very clean public toilets are about a minute down the hill. The crazy golf is great! Alternatively you can chill at the Greens Cafe which is adjacent to the golf courses and take in the views up the estuary and over to Rock. There are seats inside if the weather turns or plenty of outside seating on the terrace. They sell a variety of teas and coffees, cakes and pastries and hot or cold sandwiches and it's not too expensive - try it quick before Rick Stein buys it out. I've rated it highly because on a sunny day, with the kids having fun and enjoying the views you can't beat it.

Ordered the classic cornish pasty with steak filling. And it was a fine pasty. But not the best we've ever had. The pasty could have been crispier, the filling a bit more spiced up. Did taste a bit bland. But recipes are different, tastes are different. It was good - but not great. Nice was the size, a really big pasty with lots of stuffing. It's really a whole meal for itself. All in all still a fine visit. The location was great, we enjoyed sitting down and to watch all the action.

Very convenient for people walking the coast path. Cream teas, cakes, soup and a few main dishes. I had a nice, reasonably priced fish cake and salad. For some reason this came with a rather excessive amount of mayonnaise. Still, it was interesting watching the gulls attempt to wolf down all the left over mayonnaise, butter and so-on on other tables! Birds have a very different metabolism to us don't they!

Upon entering there is always a warm and friendly greeting from staff who obviously appreciate you being there. The menu boasts so many options to suit absolutely every person regardless of dietary preference. During our first visit we ordered a lovely latte and milkshake, which was undoubtedly the best we had ever tasted! From a coffee lovers point of view, it outweighed all competition tasting so fresh you'd think they grew the beans in the back garden! The milkshakes are equally as awesome and straight away you can tell its made from only the freshest of ingredients while you wait. I pretty much lived on the strawberry and mango milkshake for my weeks holiday and im definitely feeling withdrawal symptoms now im back home! We also tried several of the food options during our stay, which included some amazing bacon sarnies and what had to be the best plate of nachos we could ever dream of! Unlike many of the other cafe's and restaurants the prices are also extremely modest for what you get. This cafe's absolutely faultless, and I promise anyone visiting it will love bopping to Bob Marley while consuming some of the finest food and drink in the country!
