Jim was our captain and he was excellent at navigating the choppy water and giving us a smooth, dry ride. It was so much fun exploring Plum Island! We loved it. Beautiful in pictures, but more beautiful in person. We really enjoyed our tour and would recommend it! I wouldn't recommend the Death's Door Cruise if you get seasick, though, because Lake Michigan gets pretty choppy and changes rapidly. Stick to an inland cruise instead, if you are prone to getting seasick. Our daughter was able to drive the boat for a while and she loved it. She was the only kid on the tour and still enjoyed every minute of it!

We figured, let's do it in style! It was just us 2. We had a blast. No off roading of course and it only goes to 30 mph but what a cool way to check out Washington Island. We ended up with a four seater. We arrived early to our 11 AM reservation and they were kind enough to have us out 15 min early for our 2 hour rental! Sweet! They provided a map for a suggested route and we decided to follow it for the most part. All the roads are so rustic during October so you really can't go wrong and if you get lost, good thing is the island is only 36 square miles in diameter! You won't be lost for long. The customer service was friendly, informative and gave out great recommendations. They were prompt and our ride was clean/well maintained! I would use them again for sure if I come back to the island. Once you get off ferry, it straight ahead on the left- very easy to find. You could even walk there from the ferry if you aren't bringing your own vehicle on the island. They have a phone number to call and reserve your choice of "adventure" or they have a website.

We were hoping for more history of the small towns in the area, and some spots of interest, but aside from a little bit in Ephraim and the mention of a couple favorite restaurants we didn't really get much of that. The tour wasn't overly expensive, so not a huge deal, but rather disappointed overall. We wouldn't take friends who come to visit us (we live in NE Wisconsin) on the tour as we can look at pretty views of the lake on our own.

Ben was fantastic on the acoustic guitar, excellent voice and sense of humor. It was a small group when we went but he still worked the crowd. The boat was clean and I appreciated that they had binoculars available in each bench seat so you could take advantage of seeing the sights. Ben also does some of the scenic tours so he threw in a few nuggets of info about the area in between songs but overall the focus was on the music and enjoying the views. Sunset was perfect! It was a 1.5 hour interesting and enlightening guided tour highlighting elegant, historic, and hidden Cottage Row in the town of Gibraltar, the Strawberry Islands, and the Eagle Bluff Lighthouse. The all-in cost for us 2 seniors was $91.79. We boarded their boat named Quo Vadis and it has a capacity of 58 we were told. Betsy was our engaging and informative tour guide and she was a great local narrator and guide having been raised on nearby Chambers Island. From a nature and wildlife standpoint, we saw double-crested cormorants, white pelicans, a bald eagle, and a big eagle's nest along the way. Betsy added a lot of local color and flavor and trivia to the talk and it was just what I enjoyed hearing to gain more insight into this charming area. Big thumbs up and we would take another of their tours if we were up here at the right time and conditions again.

We met up with Nick very soon after our arrival on the SS Badger coming from Ludington. We have…read moreoperated Segway's numerous times, but still Nick was very thorough in his explanation and demonstration of safe operation. Then off we went. This was an excellent two hours. First, it was FUN! Beyond the fun it was informative. We had no idea of the historical significance of Manitowoc in terms of ship building and the war effort during WW I and WW II . This could easily be expanded to 3 hours by extending the ride along the waterfront all the way to Two Rivers, incorporating an optional stop at the bright pink ice cream shop! We did ride our bikes to Two Rivers and back. The Mariner's Trail is a lovely path this tour takes. Makes this excursion not just fun, but scenically beautiful as well. We highly recommend doing the Segway tour with Segway the Door.
