I've been to the Roswell detention center, the Fulton county detention center so its befitting that I give Cherokee county detention center a shot...it's bigger than Roswell's so not sure what that means....I liked how they have two pay phones up front...you know the kind that you gotta throw some quarters to get started? I don't usually carry change so I probably couldn't use it...the deputy on duty said that people rarely use them but they do get quite a number of call on them at various times all throughout the day. A side note: no cell phone use and absolutely no photos allowed inside the building. They strictly enforce and and I suppose if I violate the rules they'll throw my butt in jail... Most deputies are respectful and polite. The commissary items and medication such as Tylenol are outrageously priced to burden families with incarcerated loved ones. read more

Had the wonderful experience of having to deal with these folks when trying to bail a friend out of jail. First, they lose one star for, well, being a jail. Second, they lose another star for making me stand out in the cold while waiting for a sheriff to bring my friends debit card to me so I can use it to get some of the bail money. Third, they lose yet another star for giving me the wrong information and informing me that we could bail said person out around 4am when in fact it was actually 6am (poor babies had shift change and couldn't be bothered to do anything between the hours of 4am and 6am) Fourth, the lose another star for making us wait for an hour after I give them the money to bail said friend out to get them all setup and give them their possessions back and lead them out the door. I get that these folks have procedures to follow but when my friend tells me that there were close to 10 of them standing around and watching YouTube videos and not doing anything while we were waiting out in the cold or waiting for them to be released, that peeved me a little bit. I spent close to 6 hours waiting on something that should have taken, at most 2 to 3. Our tax dollars at work I guess. I have respect for officers and firemen and those who work to protect and help us, I really do, but I think the respect should be mutual and they should give accurate information as well as keep those trying to bail the people out informed about where they are in the process and when they can come and get the person out rather than telling them that they have to wait until a later time and giving us little to no information. read more

"I don't know" is their motto. Wildly incompetent staff. They forget about visitors & inmates, and then proceed to get angry when you slowly realize your visitation time must be up and you leave. There are no clocks and phones are not allowed so how am I supposed to know when 30 minutes are up? I had to leave my fiancé locked in a visitation room alone because they forgot about him, and I wanted to make sure someone got him. The old woman at the front desk was condescending and rude when I finally exited the jail, which I found ironic because I am/never have been an inmate and it was her staff that was INCOMPETENT. Furthermore, I have called multiple times for answers to questions (as simple as "How long does an online visitation request take to approve?) to get an answer of "I DON'T KNOW." read more

Hands down the best jail, for being my first visit I can say this. The service from the bellhop was FABULOUS, the showers were so friendly the pressure was so hard and made me feel like home Taequan was great really helped me out since I was new, the food lacked in taste but everywhere/one else had great texture. after reading the previous review of the times I called up asking what time i can really pick up my friend. the deputy said right now and i stated ok didnt want to drive all the way up if it is 6am. He said no you can now. what HE FAILED to mention was if I didnt make it up in 20mins which would be 430am then it would be 6am! read more

It's not supposed to be nice as it's a jail. That said, I've been left in the attorney booth on numerous occasions (at least 5) when they "forgot" to notify the jailers to bring out my client. One time, I had to walk down the mile-long hallway 4 times to remind them. The staff is nice and helpful enough, they just don't seem to be very happy being stationed there (again, I probably wouldn't be either). And it's old and very dirty. read more
