I'm playing on US Open week (2014 pinehurst #2) and it kind of reminded me of that. It has those shady bunkers and some holes have a bunch of pine trees on them... Now there's wide fairways and a grassy ruff to hit from, but I guess it just feels that way. I think this is a great course, it has a grassy driving range, and two putting surfaces. It also has a sand trap bunker to practice from. It's very convenient and I really enjoy it. I don't know if it's 5 star rating material, but it's not 1 and I wanted to bring the average up because it deserves it. Have fun!

My only complaint is the overall condition of the course. If there has been rain, it plays very well with greens that will hold an approach shot. But when it's dry, it plays like a parking lot. Great for my ego on drives but when you see a PW bounce on the green higher than the flag, you know it's too hard. That includes keeping the greens shorter so they roll faster.

Sleepy Hollow Golf Club is located at the Brecksville Reservation. The golf club is Cleveland…read moreMetroparks' owned. It has long history in the city starting from 1924. Back then it was a private country club later opening to public play in 1963. My review is not so much of the golf but of the winter activities taking place at this facility. In the winter this golf course offers a vast territory for skiing. CLUB: The club is simple inside with event space, the Valley View Room. The space features a bar, tables, chairs and a projector. It is rentable. It's a blank canvas room with one open space and neutral colors. Signage at the club indicated that 2026 Bonus Rounds have $35 annual fee. This included specials like discounts on green fees, advanced tee time, entree item discounts at Golf Concessions, and more. That seemed like a deal to a non-golfer like myself. In season, Metroparks offer different golf clinics to sharpen your skills. The trail has helpful indicators regarding whether it is open or closed. Ski rentals do not seem to be offered at this location. WINTER ACTIVITIES: The golf course transforms into winter activity central in the winter. Locals utilize the golf course for skiing, snow shoeing, and hiking. Based on the number of visitors on a frigid, icy winter night, it's a popular destination. You can easily look up trail conditions online and see if the trail is open during designated hours. Introduction to Cross-Country Skiing is offered at this location and hosted by Metroparks. They call it "Nordic style." The class is only $10 that includes ski rental. The class begins at the clubhouse with overview of skiing styles and equipment purchase tips. The class commences despite weather meaning it is indoor and outdoor. If there is not enough snow, the class practices inside. My class had the opportunity to practice outside which was so fun! I haven't been skiing in over 30 years so skill refresh was a great idea. There were various options for skiing - a trail and a small hill. I had so much fun reliving my favorite winter activity. SERVICE: Metroparks staff and volunteers were very friendly! The overview of skiing equipment was especially helpful. They provided specialized care to some of the participants who were less talented in skiing (myself included). I felt very engaged in the program and loved interacting with staff. I really that every student in that class felt personal attention. I really enjoyed winter program at Sleepy Hollow. It's great to see park visitors enjoy this space even in winter. If you're looking to venture out and try something new during off-season, try the classes at Sleepy Hollow. I'll be back in the spring to golf!

This is course that demands respect and every shot needs to be thought through if you want to finish respectable. Hole #1 On this fair opening hole, favor the right side of the fairway to avoid the left side fairway bunker. This will leave a short- to mid-iron into the green guarded by a pond in the front left. Hole #4 This dogleg left requires an accurate tee shot. Any shot left will have trouble with a huge bunker or trees. Any shot right will run through the dogleg possibly behind more trees. The second shot will be a mid- to short-iron to a green guarded by a front left and back right bunker. Hole #7 Another reachable par 5 if you drive it straight and long. The second shot, if you choose to go for it, is a real risk reward shot. The green is surrounded by water on all but the front entrance into the green. This green is very deep with some severe sloping on the front left side. Hole #11 Again, another par 3 that needs accuracy to a narrow but wide green with a lake that guards the front. This green slopes severely from back to front. Hole #18 The tee shot is the key to this hole. Bite off as much as you can on this dogleg right and it is a pretty easy birdie. Water protects the right side of the complete hole. The green is guarded by three front side bunkers and water on the right. A great finishing hole. The amenities are first rate and the staff is.............okay but they are protective of their courses and I'm glad for it. The restaurant is exceptional. You will never be disappointed!

I would strongly avoid this place if you are looking for a wedding venue…read more If you want to be served a TV dinner or want to poison your guests for your wedding night then this is the place for you. From what we were shown versus what we received as dishes the difference was night and day. Completely different cuts of meat. Completely different preparations. And then everything tasted and looked as if it either was boiled forever or microwaved. Now this at the end of the night isn't bad as bad food still doesn't matter when you are celebrating. But not listening to food allergen warnings will kill someone. We had many guests who are either gluten intolerant to the point of severe sickness or had severe tree nut and peanut allergies. So the bride and groom both agreed to have gluten free bread and a gluten free chicken dish as a menu option and NO nuts. The chicken was suppose to be gluten free and when it was served, it contained bread crumbs. Which contains gluten. So the groom couldn't eat the main meal as he didn't want to be sick vomiting all night. The first salad "dish" served was wilted lettuce with WALNUTS! Not trusting that the chefs took any care with the preparation of the dishes or being careful about cross contamination. The best man didn't eat anything they prepared. So not only did the groom not get the main meal, the best man didn't get to eat at the venue. The management team here really needs to figure out what they are doing. This was an embarrassing show from people who allegedly have been doing this for years. They need to operate at least at an okay standard if they hope not to be litigated out of existence. If we weren't careful we could have had a serious allergic reaction that could have caused a death. It was pitiful to be around such unprofessional and amateur planning by the management team of this club. If it wasn't for how great the rest of the staff was I am sure this place would have had many more problems.
