Honestly, that's what made the biggest difference: have you ever been to a zoo where the staff, as they are working, turn and have conversations with the patrons? Also, there was a short talk/presentation about turtles - my kids loved it! They asked so many questions and because they were local animals, we could then look for turtles - my kids now love turtles as much as volcanoes!! Also, they had a monarch butterfly egg monitoring project going on, and it was exciting to see staff go out with mirrors in the weeds to count eggs. It's hard to articulate how unsung this place is. Incredible experience, mainly due to the accessibility and welcomingness of the park staff!

They have a great handful of enclosures that are habitats with several animals - for instance, there was a lemur habitat that had tortoises and a fowl. They also had an enclosure that had Scarlett ibis, ducks and an anteater! They also have a gift shop that was on the smaller side, a petting zoo where you can pet the goals and a snack shack. Great place for young kids - who don't require a large attention span to get enjoyment out of the zoo.

The zoo really did a good job creating an interactive environment for these cute little animals. I enjoyed the wide variety of animals the zoo offered. He was snoozing in the tube right over our heads! The was my second visit, and I would probably go again.

When you…read morecan visit a nearly perfect zoo that doesn't charge an admission fee it's hard to be thrilled with an older zoo that begins your experience with a $19 parking fee (So much for encouraging families to visit.). My first recommendation IF you live close enough to come back a second time during the year purchase an annual membership (You won't have to pay the parking fee.). However, incredibly the Philadelphia Zoo DOES NOT offer a senior citizen membership nor discount. And, like any other attraction the costs of concessions far exceeds what you'd pay outside the zoo. As for the zoo itself it's a beautiful walk on a temperate day, which was our zoo day. The infrastructure is old but it is really cool to have a tiger walking above visitors and also monkeys walk through the caged pathways. It seems that more areas were under construction than filled with animals. Kids were enjoying feeding the giraffes and there are several interactive play areas for young people. Each indoor exhibit was uncomfortably hot and crowded. Oh, and being a city zoo parking is difficult on nice days. The one official $19 lot was full and we lucked into a space in the other lot. Yes, we purchased memberships and as a single 70 year old I paid full freight but if I return for another visit it will be worth the cost ... my advice go to where you make a donation down in Cape May!

We spent hours at the farm, and could have stayed even longer. My kids loved everything from the large corn maze to the swings to the games to the playground equipment to the large sandbox filled with corn. My kids were 4 and 6 during our visit, but the farm can easily accommodate older or younger. Two notes; 1. The bathrooms in the back of the farm are new & super clean. 2. Don't feel pressure to purchase the add ones (apple chucking and paintball) - those sections are towards the back of the farm and easily avoidable. There was a variety of food options - a few standard theme park options along with specialty options like homemade ice cream.

All types of food vendors like burgers, fries, chicken fingers, ice cream and apple cider donuts. You can spend hours here and not get bored. They also have for pit and picnic table areas you can rent out and they provide logs and sticks so you can roast marshmallows or hotdogs. Definitely recommend this farm.

Rude staff!!!!!! Skip this place unless you enjoy being insulted at the door…read more I had read reviews about the rude man at the entrance, and unfortunately, our visit confirmed them. When we arrived, my husband explained we were a family of five, including our baby who is 9 months old. Instead of simply charging the admission, the man looked at my daughter and said, "Wow, she looks big for 9 months." This was not an innocent observation--it was a shady, backhanded way of suggesting we were lying about her age so he could charge us. For the record, my daughter is absolutely 9 months old--small for her age, no teeth, not walking, sitting in a stroller with a pacifier. His comment was unnecessary, insulting, and immediately set a negative tone. If the policy is that everyone pays--even infants--then state that clearly. Don't make rude remarks about a child's appearance or insinuate dishonesty. I even offered to pay the $6, but instead of being straightforward, he backtracked. For a place that depends on families visiting, this kind of treatment is unacceptable. If you choose to come here, be prepared for a rude encounter before you even get inside. We won't be returning, and I would not recommend this "zoo" to anyone who values basic respect. To the owner: your mouth is bad for your business, friend.

A Peaceful Day Among Blooms, Bonsai, and Beautiful Fountain Shows at Longwood Gardens…read more I had such a wonderful experience at Longwood Gardens. The grounds are absolutely beautiful--you can easily spend hours exploring and still not see everything. It's incredibly peaceful, with plenty of shaded areas and chairs scattered throughout, making it easy to slow down, relax, and take it all in. I was especially happy that the tulips were still blooming during my visit--they were vibrant, colorful, and truly a highlight of the day. One thing that really stood out was how many staff members were around. Whether they were tending to the gardens or available to answer questions, it added to the overall welcoming feel of the place. I loved all of the water features--they were stunning and added to the calming atmosphere. Make sure to catch the water fountain shows--they're beautifully done and absolutely a must-see while you're there. There are also so many paths to wander, including areas out in the meadow that I didn't even get to explore. It felt like every turn led to something new and beautiful. The bonsai trees were a highlight for me--be sure to check them out! One of them has been in training since 1909, which is just incredible. Admission was very reasonable at $35, though I'd recommend checking their Facebook page for discount codes (I found one after I had already purchased my tickets). A membership is only $120, and if I lived closer, I would absolutely take advantage of that and visit often. Parking was plentiful and easy. The café had a great variety of options--from hot entrées to sandwiches and salads--and I even found a great deal: a hot dog and chips for just $7. There were also plenty of outdoor tables to enjoy a meal. Another thoughtful touch: there are clean, well-maintained restrooms located all over the grounds. Many are individual restrooms with their own sink and toilet, which was really convenient. Make sure you visit the house and watch the film--it provides a great overview and history of the gardens and really enhances the experience. Overall, this was a fantastic visit. I'm already planning to bring one of my gardening friends with me the next time I'm in the area! Website: https://longwoodgardens.org/ #Reviews #Travel #Pennsylvania #Gardening #LongwoodGardens

It's a FREE zoo! Automatic 5 stars... but it's more than that…read more This zoo is full of well-loved animals that are happy, spunky, and very playful! From the pea fowl roaming free all over the grounds (and the males will get in your face if you go near the females to say "hi" or get a picture lol), to the bear sleeping in his water trough on a hot day, to the lazy porcupine napping on a perch, all of these guys were healthy and content! As others mentioned, it's not a huge zoo, but there is an impressive assortment of animals (35 exhibits), and all animals I saw were total extroverts and very fun to watch. My kindergartener was entertained for a full hour, and it was a hot day, so a few animals were hiding out in the shade and not visible, or just unavailable in their indoor enclosures. We heard one talk, at the tiger exhibit, but on a more fairweather day, with a schedule to catch more talks, we could've stayed a lot longer. The (also free) animal talks at different exhibits throughout the day (11am, 2pm and 3pm), are very informative and interesting. The zoo is mostly shaded, outdoor paths in a loop. A small river runs through the zoo, with benches and places to lounge. They do have a picnic grove. Outdoor food is allowed because the concession stand is only open on certain occasions, but feeding animals is prohibited. The staff was super friendly and relaxed, but very qualified, caring, and attentive to the animals. I got a really good vibe here! Only negative was the parking lot is way too small for the zoo and I had to wait for a parking spot to open up. Not only is there not enough parking for the zoo, but it shares the lot with the Splash Park nextdoor, which is nuts in summer months. Do combine your summer zoo visit with a $4 (2024 price) visit to the Splash Park, but arrive early or be ready to battle for parking! Will visit again! They have summer ZOO CAMP, do birthday parties, animal education visits, and private tours! They have a wish list on Amazon if you want to support them in a direct and meaningful way: HTTPS://www.amazon.com/registries/gl/guest-view/OCW4AERZAC1

It's so awesome that Elmwood Zoo offers free admission for Norristown residents from time to time. We reserved our time online and walked in without any issues at all. Even though it was pretty freaking cold, there were still a good number of families there. We all bundled up in double layers and are able to thoroughly enjoyed the zoo. Surprisingly, so many animals were out despite the weather. The leopard even came right up to the window to say hi and hang out with the visitors. The otters put on a whole show for us, and now my son is officially obsessed with otters. From the very first time I visited until this most recent time, I truly feel like the zoo keeps getting better and better. My son literally wants to go every day now haha. The staff was so helpful this past time, too. We saw several staff members around the zoo taking care of the animals, sharing background info, and even telling us the animals' names and their habits. Overall, we had such a good experience.
