I've been sitting at stupid computers all day, every work day since 1994, and have been going to…read moretherapists since 2003 or 2004. I usually go twice a month, sometimes less, sometimes more. I've probably gone through a few dozen therapists at a dozen locations since then, some for longer than others. I think I assumed that all therapists are pretty much all the same in terms of what they know, how they apply their knowledge and how they apply it when I make specific requests. An friend told me about her therapist Rebecca about 4 years ago and I've been going to her ever since. She is very much "into" what she does, and knows a lot about anatomy in general. When I ask her questions, such as why I need so much focus on a specific area, she ends up schooling me on a bunch of different muscles (in Latin no less) and why they affect that area. She also gives me tips on how to reduce the amount of tension I build up during the course of a work week, which have worked very well. Like now I know that my legs are in cahoots with my back, so she has me stretching my hams & calves for 10 minutes every morning. Now my mid- and lower-back pains are so infrequent and quick to recover from. btw I suggest you take her advice too and stretch every morning if you experience those same symptoms (but go see her too of course). She's even helped me with my carpal tunnel (which can really burn like hell). Her approach to physical therapy is professional, caring and responsive. I've stopped trying to find new therapists because now I know they're not all the same. And it's not that they all weren't good, I just don't think they were great. She's great. This review gets 5 stars to express my thanks and gratitude for helping me so much. Seriously Rebecca, Thank you! :) I don't know how you do it. My only hesitation to writing this review is that if you get too booked up I'm screwed. Just kidding. Go see her!

I was recently back in AZ and tried to get in with her but she was booked....ugh! I do highly recommend her to anyone that serious about getting a great massage that will make you feel like new. I am writing this review in hopes that next time I'm in town and Rebecca is booked up she will cancel someone else's appointment and see me....kidding. In all honesty, I went in one time after going to the doctor for a bad back and receiving nothing but painkillers and Rebecca was able to diagnose my issue within 5 minutes and I was back to my regular active lifestyle after 90 minutes. Rebecca doesn't just massage you she learns your body....I hope that doesn't sound weird....but I have not seen her for several months but I know if I walked in tomorrow she would remember my tight spots, my tender spots, etc and be able to give me the best massage. I have had over 100 massages in my life and Rebecca has been my best therapist.....hands down....I just need to get back to AZ to get another massage from her.

I originally found AZRI while searching for individual trauma therapy. Ironically, my experience…read morewith the counseling ultimately became one of the most distressing therapeutic experiences I have had. To be fair, the front desk staff were excellent. They were responsive, professional, quick to return messages, transparent with billing, and the text communication line was incredibly convenient for someone who works long hours. Unfortunately, those positives did not translate to my experience with the counseling itself. During couples counseling, I expressed directly that I felt invalidated during our sessions. Rather than exploring why I felt that way, the counselor explained that I could not be invalidated because I had sought out her help and, by providing therapy to me, she was therefore validating me. I found this response incredibly dismissive. If a client says, "I feel invalidated by what is happening in this session," telling them that invalidation is essentially impossible because they voluntarily sought therapy does not address the concern. It shuts the conversation down. The session continued to escalate in a way that left me feeling increasingly uncomfortable. At the end of the session, the counselor apologized to my husband in front of me that the session had not been more fruitful because of my difficulty. I found that extremely unprofessional and deeply hurtful. I went to therapy expecting a safe environment in which difficult emotions could be addressed constructively, not to feel as though I was being characterized as the reason therapy had failed. I also felt substantial pressure toward discernment therapy, which was especially confusing because we had recently gotten married and had entered couples counseling with the intention of working on our marriage. The counseling increasingly seemed focused on determining whether we should stay together rather than helping us communicate, reconnect, and address the problems that brought us there. I understand that discernment therapy has a legitimate purpose and that couples counseling is not always about keeping a relationship together. However, there is a meaningful difference between appropriately exploring whether a relationship should continue and making a client feel that the therapeutic process is moving the couple further apart. For us, the irony is that our relationship did not improve through this experience. It began improving after we left the practice and stopped couples counseling there. I am not suggesting that every client will have the same experience. Therapy is highly individual, and this is simply mine. But I believe prospective clients deserve to know that my experience was not merely an uncomfortable therapy session. I left feeling deeply distressed and, ultimately, traumatized by the therapeutic experience itself. The administrative side of AZRI deserves five stars. My experience with the actual marriage counseling does not.
