Perhaps the odd sandwich too, but don't expect a great selection if you're looking for food at lunchtime. I would head to one of the nearby pubs instead. In the summer, the outside seating is really lovely, and the surrounding rose garden provides a pretty view. The location means that the Rotunda is heavily frequented by mothers with small children as well as elderly people. It's not the most exciting of cafes, but it does exactly what it should. I've found it a particularly handy place to get an ice-cream or a cold drink whilst sunbathing on a hot summer's day.

The park was originally owned by a rich lord of Preston Manor so all the buildings on the land used to be part his estate. The historic value of the building can easily be seen. The park alone is a perfect haven in the middle of the busy city and has many facilities on offer including tennis courts, children play areas and a running track. So the cafe is great place to grab a bite before or after a work out, or even just a stop off during a leisurely stroll.

I have never had eggs Benedict before (nor written "eggs Benedict" so many times) but my word I am now a fan. An eggs Benedict connoisseur might scoff at those served at the Museum & Gallery's café, but for a first timer I was hooked. I have always been impressed by the food on offer at this pleasant café situated on the first floor of the museum. The cakes are sublime; the coffee is Italian so therefore delicious and the eggs Benedict... well you know what I think about them! This is a really nice café with well-spaced tables and a nice balcony view of the exhibits below. The staff tend to be young and very polite and although this is not the cheapest place to have breakfast or elevenses, I would definitely recommend it because you don't feel as if you're being ripped off. It also has wonderful Monmouth coffee and a small but impressive selection of lip-smackingly good food. There's brunch items, daily warm and cold salads, soups, welsh rarebit and cheese and ham boards with chunks of fresh bread. I've tried and loved the latter two but the thing I'm hooked on is their homemade toasted breakfast loaf. It's packed with oats, nuts and fruit and comes with yoghurt and jam. Their selection of home-baked cakes, meringues and brownies also make Igigi an ideal place to catch up with friends over cake and coffee or afternoon tea. The only downside is it's more pricey than other local cafes and is so small, it's sometimes hard to get a table. Anyone for coffee and carrot cake?

It's also more of a restaurant with pub frontage than a pub: there's an Italian restaurant and most of the staff are Italian. Granted, they are cheerful and helpful, but it doesn't feel much like a pub. They have three real ales on tap, including Harvey's Sussex Best Bitter, but the pint of 'Brighton Rock' I had was cloudy and on the turn. Worst for me - though I realise this is rather specific - I was hoping to catch a bus into Brighton.
