Walk down Queen Street at a certain time of day and you're bound to hear the tempting siren song of, 'Strawberries, two for a pound' from the vendor at Chef's Choice.
This offer isn't as bad as it sounds. It would take some remarkable level of persuasive skill to flog just a couple of strawberries for a quid, and this would hardly be the way to pave the way for a four star rating.
Two punnets for a pound, though, is an excellent way to get my approval and it is certainly worth going up to the stand at the end of the day to hold out a handful of shrapnel and see what you can barter.
The storekeeper is generally quite chatty and always seems up for a bit of banter, and it always surprises he how much voice he has left after the amount he shouts.
Such flogged fruit obviously needs eating up fast, but get your blender and invite the gang round for some strawberry smoothies. Delish!
