Opposite Ashton's Fishmongers at the park entrance to the market, Sullivans is one of several fruit and veg sellers within the Victorian structure. The green fronted stall stocks all manner of tasty looking fruit and veg, and the sellers don't scowl at you when you only want a banana to go with your lunch. As well as bananas you can get all your usual fruit basket staples - oranges, apples, pears, grapes. They also stock seasonal veg - new potatoes, leafy greens, the lot.
I always think it is nicer to buy your veg from stalls like this, rather than vacuum packed from the supermarket. If you buy a lot, you usually get savings and it is always fresher, tastier and better for you. If you are on a budget, and let's face it most of us are, and you have time to cook, try doing a weekly veg shop here, you won't go hungry and you will feel better. There'll be more washing up though, sorry about that. read more
