It takes a month in advance to snag a reservation and even then it's still impossible to find one! So, is it worth it? Yes! I have only heard about Chef Mickey's. Never been. This was the first time that I dined there and it was during COVID. The experience was awesome. Unfortunately they didn't have characters come out but the staff were super kind and welcoming. They gave my son a pin to celebrate his birthday and let him take home a placemat. The food was all you can eat. They bring it to your table in huge portions. Once you finish something, you can ask for more. There was so much food for 1 adult and 1 child. I enjoyed the smoked salmon, the bacon and the pastries the best. Oof...I am completely conflicted in what to review this with. I have to say the character experience lived up to all of my expectations (minus the crazy line to get a pic with Mickey himself...which we skipped). Goofy and Donald were absolutely wonderful, Minnie was a dream, Pluto made the kids laugh. The price is obscene. $260 for 2 adults, 2 kids and 2 bloody Mary's. We are not big people, we don't eat a ton, so we expected at least quality, right? They had capers, lox and NO BAGELS OR CREAM CHEESE?! An absolute tragedy. I would have given one more star if it weren't for that mistake. The cheesy potatoes were good, fruit and cheese were as they should be, bacon was a bit limp for my liking and stuck together in giant hunks, biscuits and gravy tasted pretty salty and bland at the same time, I had to push and shove to even see the Mickey waffles (no joke). BUT, my kids did love it. Will I do it again? Probably, if they beg enough...because I'm a sucker. read more

Absolutely almost no one orders rare beef at restaurants except for cannibals and adventurists. When I asked for medium there was a 10 minute wait beacuse they had a tiny pan for such requests. Why not just cook it medium in the first place ? Basically the food tasted worse than a college dining hall, but more than $65 per person, I would expect a little more effort. 10 stars... seriously!!! This was a First time here for my daughters... I have been to Disney world 7 or so times. Never had a character dining experience...but this was fantastic!!! This experience made the trip!! The smiles on my girls faces and they talked about it every day of the trip... Makes my heart warm. We had a reservation and the app worked flawlessly. We got checked in and then headed to the host station. Seated quick and greeted quickly with a smile from Roger (Made the experience more magical really) He informed us about how the menu items work and took our drink order - I ordered a Bellini - so cheers- that was a great thirst quencher. Eggs, mickey pancakes, sausage, Mickey waffles, a fresh fruit platter, donuts/sweet rolls,cheesy potatoes,bacon, brisket, yogurt w granola. .. the brownie french toast was over the top!!!!. And because we had just celebrated our anniversary we got alcohol free frozen drinks and a couples cupcakes.... Yummo. I left full as my stomach allowed. The kitchen did a fantastic job! We understood the rules of safe distance and the character dining experience. Thankfully Roger kept our drinks on full and our platters filled as we ordered it. We went to Chef Mickeys on our rest day from the parks and had a great experience. Definitely make sure to book ahead of time because I don't think you can just walk in. The breakfast food was delicious, it is all brought to your table and you can get more servings if you need. The only downside is a lot of food is wasted through this way. We are wayyy too much, but it was tasty and had a bit for all of us to enjoy. A little pricey, but a fun character experience! Kids under 3 are free which is a plus! read more

The food was typical buffet fare, but who's kidding? Did we come for the food? NO! The kids could barely listen to the server because Goofy was in the room already. The madness had started before we'd even gotten our food. The characters kept coming and coming. Each took copious amounts of pictures and gave loads of hugs before moving to the next table in a set pattern. Just as we would get ready to get food, another character would show up! However, I saw no benefit in standing in line to visit Minnie, when she could have also joined the other characters as they visited with guests. The cost was a bit too much, but I assume all costs have increased in this National economic situation. I would t recommend paying xtra for special drinks. If you're staying at the Contemporary hotel with kids, I highly recommend going there on an off day. We've been to a number of character meals, including in California. I think this is my second favorite one. The food, service and ambiance are all very good. When we checked in with a reservation, the hostess pleasantly explained that they were running about 15 minutes late. This was very much appreciated after our Steak House 71 experience the previous night. The only real negative part was the gave us so much food, we were only able to eat about half of it for Brunch. read more

Went to the character breakfast this morning with our group here on vacation. Good was your standard hotel buffet breakfast items, nothing really stood out in my opinion. Oh the mickeys juice was pretty tasty. You got to see the four main characters and such. What we've noticed on this trip is that they haven't fully embraced this magic band experience park wide. I'll admit we have a larger group (12 people) and we typically wouldn't be on one bill if possible. Every place we've been together they never ask about magic bands and want us to pay cash or card. We came here while on a Disney trip with the family. Made the reservation way in advance, which you will need to do as this is one of the popular places to eat and they book fast. Pricing why, it's on the top end of the list, 50 dollars and adult, for an all you can eat buffet. We did the breakfast, I will say they had a ton of food, nothing was ever empty and it tasted pretty good. It was busy as usual, the characters come around and visit you which is cool. It had been a long time since we dined at Chef Mickeys. We don't make it part of the itinerary every Disney trip because it's expensive and kind of a one and done type experience for us. Our youngest is four and we just brought him for the first time. He loved it. The breakfast options were great and I felt as though there is something there for everyone. The waitress was great and refiled our drinks quickly. The complimentary juice was delicious. I had a peach Bellini which was also very good, if you haven't been to Chef Mickeys I highly recommend giving it a shot. This experience is centered primarily around the characters being around while you are eating, which is buffet style. If the food quality was better, perhaps the overall experience would be different, but sadly, it is not. The buffet food is very low quality, and the characters don't speak, just come around for high fives and hugs, all for the grand total of $70, PER PERSON. To say the disappointment was next level, would be an understatement. We had a party of 8, and did not order anything in addition to the included buffet, and the total was $700. You read that right, nearly $100 per person, including the automatic $100 tip, when we got our own food, and the server brought only waters. Chef Mickey's was one of the best experiences on our last trip to Orlando. A lot of the cost of the meal goes to the character experience, but is well worth it as each of the Fab Five (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto) rotate from table to table taking pictures. The food is great quality and so is the staff. They were all on point and attentive on a busy day. I would recommend to book a table in advance as the experience is in high demand on a regular basis. As of today, the food is brought to the table, where as before the pandemic it was more of a buffet style. I believe the idea is that it will return to buffet in the future but that is TBD. Servers serve you via course- starters: yogurt, fruit, pastries (doughnuts and cinnamon roll were yummy). Kids get their own pancakes. A skillet full off different items come out, along with the loaded cheese potato- again delicious. Then there's the banana bread. Yes everything is included! We did add on smoothies for the kids to share. As well as parents drinks, a Bloody Mary and a beer. Loved the Bloody Mary- it had olives, cheese, and bacon! As for the characters. Went for brunch on a Thursday. Keep checking reservations because we found people kept dropping times as we got closer. Buffet has a lot of options. I don't think my kids ate hardly anything which made the price a little difficult to swallow but I guess you're paying for each of the characters to come to your table. That service is great but still kinda pricey in my opinion. The kids did love seeing all of them so I guess it's a wash. As far as my meal, I thought the food was just OK. Out of all the character meals at Disney, this one is my favorite. First of all they have the best characters, but also food. The people are very pleasant and it's a nice casual environment. It's a buffet and those are my favorite. They had a lot of kid friendly options (chicken nuggets, pizza, tater tots, Mac and cheese) but stuff for the adults too (varying meats, shrimp, salad etc). My favorite thing was the breadsticks, they were magical I could eat fifteen of them at once. The desserts were not my favorite but it's ok. They do have a soft serve ice cream machine though! When arriving to the contemporary we checked in and walked around for a bit before finally sitting down. From the time we check in to the time we got seated we waited 40 mins! We came hungry knowing that we were going to be served a lot of food, but at a 12:05 spot? We gotta seated after the restaurant closed. It was kind of ridiculous, but it's a bucket list restaurant for me being a Disney fan, so I guess I can't complain. The saving grace of all of this was our waitress Etha, she was so knowledgeable and was very helpful when we told her that I was a vegetarian. All the characters were in the room we were seated at and didn't come up to us at all, we finished our meal and asked since they were closed would they come back around and she said she would see what she could do. In a matter of 5 minutes every character came over to us to say hii! It was an amazing experience and a great conversation with her. The food was good, we loved the waffles and banana bread French toast. It's definitely just banana bread and not French toast, but we enjoyed it. My boyfriend mentioned the sausage was not that good and was not warm, including the eggs being unseasoned. The potato casserole was out of this world, I got a serving without bacon and it was delicious! Overall, I think this is a top spot if you have kids otherwise I'd say to pass due to the price and food being just ok. read more

I wasn't expecting the food to be good because it was a buffet but we were all impressed. They had a wide variety of options - the scrambled eggs, potato casserole, pancakes, and cinnamon rolls were my favorite from the buffet. I would give 10 stars if I could!! We went last night and full character visits are back!!! That means they come to your table and can hug and sign autographs. When I booked a month ago it was still 6 feet apart and you can take selfie with them. The characters are really the best!! My 2.5 year old daughter couldn't contain her excitement and we had to prevent her from running to the characters! Goofy and mickery were her favorite and they spent extra time with her and we got awesome pictures! We saw all of the characters at least twice while we were there. It really was magical! I recommend going early as there's alot of shops and you can see the monorail that comes inside the hotel! We had a late reservation 8:55 so it was late by the time we were done and things were closed. The food is good. It's normally a buffett but it's family style so they give you everything and you can ask for more. We really loved the prime rib and asked for 3rds! Chef Mickey's is an all-you-care-to-enjoy buffet restaurant inside Disney's Contemporary Resort at Walt Disney World. The restaurant originally opened at Disney Village Marketplace (now known as Disney Springs) in 1990. It moved to its current home at the Contemporary Resort (opened 1971) in 1995. The restaurant is open for both breakfast and dinner. It is one of the most popular Disney eateries to feature character dining and is also one of the most difficult to obtain reservations for. My family and I visited Chef Mickey's while we were on an East Coast Road Trip. I had visited Chef Mickey's at its original location in 1993 when I was a young boy. On this occasion we were joined by friends of ours who were vacationing with us along with their family. The children in our party were all served a kid's plate that featured Chicken Nuggets, Mini Corn Dogs, Tater Tots, Macaroni & Cheese and Steamed Broccoli. The adults were first served Citrus-poached Baby Shrimp Salad and Caesar Salad. Some of the dishes served to the table included Prime Rib with Mushroom Ragoût and Roasted Onions, Traditional Roasted Turkey Breast with Summer Succotash and Gravy, Roasted Salmon with Sweet Mustard Glaze and Southern-style Braised Kale, Roasted Garlic Gratin Potatoes, Farro Wheat Fried Rice, Green Beans with Roasted Garlic Tomato, Baby Carrots with Dijon-Tarragon Butter and Brown Sugar, Mickey Parmesan Frico, and Potato Gnocchi Puttanesca. There was so much food and it all looked so delicious. I couldn't decide what I wanted so I sampled a little bit of everything. Overall, we were all very happy with the food. The check-in experience at every other popular Mickey character dining has a character photo before your meal. Here you take a picture with a big plate. Huge let down. The $60+ you spend for dinner is for the experience, so you expect less in the food options department. Problem is, CM was a miss even with the limited food options. Maybe it was just this night, but the buffet was a mess. Limited adult food options, carving station was meh. The corn dog nuggets were a hit... Lastly, the character experience. What you pay big money for. One huge letdown was there was no option for photopass type professional photog with the characters. It was all on your phone. Every trip, whether it's aulani, Disneyland or wdw, we pay a premium to not have to worry about lugging our phones around and let the photo pass cast members do their thing. It wasn't even an option. The monorail thru the restaurant saved this from a 1-star review. I feel with a few changes, the experience can change dramatically. read more

Just when you think this restaurant can't get any worse, it sets out on a mission to prove it can. We had a reservation for 12:10, which is breakfast, not lunch there. And as hard as it is to screw up breakfast, they do fine job in doing just that. And make sure you check out their menu before going because they decide what you're going to eat. You don't. They start you off with fruit & some kind of liquid yogurt. It didn't look good. We didn't eat it. Then they bring you some pastries. I don't know what kind they were, but they bring two of each, even if there's three of you at the table. They weren't fresh. They didn't taste like they'd been fresh for a few days. They were hard. You also get some kind of weird banana French toast. It didn't look like any French toast I've ever seen. It did look, however, like something my dog's left in the front yard when he goes outside to do his business. The "French toast" is a really dark, almost black, brown. I had the server take it back with her. It was too disgusting looking to sit on the table with food we were going to eat. The scrambled eggs were ice cold. They weren't even semi-warm. They were COLD. The cheesy hash browns were good. That was the only thing I ate that was good. I didn't eat the bacon, sausage or whatever the mystery meat was, so can't comment on that. One kiddo ate the Mickey pancake; the other didn't. Both ate the Mickey waffles. As the characters, which is what makes this meal incredibly expensive, we were supposed to see "The Fab Five." We only saw three. And that was a challenge because we were seated by the wall, so the characters had their backs to us most of the time. Those seated across from us got tons of photos. Us? Not so much. And the cast member that escorts the characters was downright rude when we complained that Mickey spent all his time with the center tables & ignored us. Minnie turned around, but refused to move a little to her right so my grandson could get in the picture. Since they don't come right up to the tables anymore, you have to take selfie-like photos. Kiddo had to lean WAY to his left in order to be in the photo with Minnie. He now looks like he was being tortured. So we basically paid $140 for three people to barely eat & to see 3 out of the 5 characters. We won't be back. read more

This is a go-to for any first time in Disney World. This was the first restaurant we went to, and quite frankly a very satisfying and delicious introduction to the restaurants offered by Disney. Located in the Contemporary Resort which housed a few stores that were great to cruise around while our table was being ready, Chef Mickey's went to great lengths to ensure our dinner was an amazing experience. The buffet was excellent: we all tried the prime rib, (perfectly cooked, I might add), homemade mashed potatoes and turkey gravy, a salad bar, bacon and cheddar soup, the list goes on. To complete the meal, they also offered delicious desserts such as lemon/strawberry cake, chocolate cheesecake, and Minnie and Donald cupcakes. All of the house cocktails were well balanced and complimented our meals. They also included a guide of what foods were allergy friendly. If you were wondering, the meal and cocktails (I believe the other drinks were as well) were included in our dining plan, making the experience well-worth it. The characters also made appearances throughout the night, and we took memorable pictures as well as had a great time as a family. Around the restaurant, the kids who were there were having the time of their lives, dancing and interacting with the Disney mascots. The staff were also very friendly and ensured each character visited each table. They were very patient with our group, and were always checking up on us. The kids had so much fun!!! It was wonderful to see some of the areas were kids height level so they can get their own food!!! My kids had so much fun being able to scoop their own breakfast!!! The characters make their rounds often, so no worries if you missed taking pics with one of them. They will be back around soon. Plus they make sure to stop at each and every table to take pictures! I much rather take pictures with them here than waiting in a long line under the sun at the parks. It's your typical breakfast food just with mickey and the gang dancing around you!!
