Continuing what is increasingly looking like a tour of Northern Italy's highway rest areas, we stopped here at the Chef Express on Autostrada A21 which is between Asti and Torino. After four hours of driving from Florence through Pisa, it's time for a coffee break.
Italians generally don't take their coffee for a walk so we enjoyed our expresso Italian-style in a proper ceramic cup while standing at the counter. It was easy enough to order an espresso from the gal behind the counter who understood enough English to get the job done. The coffee was hot, fresh and just the boost we needed.
Two single espressos later and we were on our way. The store also sells family-size packs of chocolate, candy, wine plus drinks, beers, sandwiches that can be heated and a bunch of toys and gifts.
