    Is it just me, or does something about the slogan "the curious bank" make you think that 5/3 has no…read moreidea what they're doing? It concerns me, because this is the most convenient bank to use in Cincinnati, and so I use it. It seems like they do a lot of things differently from other banks. I'm not sure if that's a positive or a negative, but my experience has been that banks do things a certain way because it works...normally. I can't say that I've had any problems with the people at this particular Fifth Third, though I've had problems with other Fifth Third employees at other locations that haven't fully disclosed all of the pertinent information about their products (including certain fees and the proper definition of some bank products - I was once told that a Fifth Third Visa Credit Card was merely "over-draft protection", for instance). CD rates here (and some other banks as well) are currently laughable. You're better off spending your money on a new car or hiding it under the mattress or investing in the stock market, quite frankly. I'm also annoyed that they don't put the day's date up in lobby, instead they put the date of the next bank business day (the day when your deposit will go into effect). I can't say Fifth Third is particularly bad, but I don't think it is my first choice in financial services. My advice, if you are thinking about becoming a Fifth Third customer, is just to ask a lot of questions and make sure you know and fully understand what product you are getting.

First, I contacted them to see how I could make additional principal payments online. I was told to go ahead and make payments, and then call them to move the money to principal. I'm doing these kinds of things at night, after hours, and I don't want to have to remember to call them the next day. So my comment is: their website and system are not conducive to handle transactions efficiently. Next, I've tried calling them. Their phone number asks for a PIN number. I only have a loan with them, so I don't have a PIN. Maneuvering their phone system to try to speak with someone is inefficient at best. Next, I moved my loan to a local credit union. I inadvertently forgot to cancel my automatic payment to 53. Now, trying to get that money back is dragging on and on. They have had my money for 13 calendar days, but I'm told I have to wait 10 business days to have them mail me a check. By the time they process my certified check refund, it will be 3 weeks. I have contacted them and they say there is no speeding up that process. Meanwhile, they hang onto my money for no apparent reason. Poor system. Poor customer service.

I'm in town visiting family for my nephew graduation and needed some cash for a money bouquet. I also wanted to open a couple more CDs totaling $150k. I'm from Akron and the branches up there are respectful and greets you immediately when you walk in. I've never had a problem with ANY U.S Banks. This branch was not it! I walked in and complete silence besides music. I thought the branch was empty so I started looking around to see if anyone was there or not. I'm not the type to just walk up on anyone if they are busy. I looked around and saw someone so I headed back in the line to wait my turn. Well who I thought was a heavy set male with colored hair turned out to be a female who was EXTREMELY dismissive. I stood in line where she could see me and she saw me. Soon as she saw me she put her phone down and started typing on her computer pretending as if I wasn't standing there. She looked up saw me and did not acknowledge me. Someone pulled up to the outside drive thru (they were NOT there first) and she immediately got up and took them while I've been waiting. Another female came from some back room but was on the phone, looked over at me and went upstairs also not acknowledging me. I finally had enough and decided to leave. My family warned me this location is extremely rude, lazy and dismissive. This was ridiculous and completely unnecessary. I'm not even the type to write long drawn out comments but whoever is in charge need to fix this and them!

This morning, I noticed that these funds were not showing on my account. I called customer service and they also told me that they could not find the transaction. They transferred me to the Mount Healthy Branch and they told me the same thing. I then told them that I had both the deposit slip and the check stub from the transaction. Unfortunately, they neglected to tell me that this was a problem that more than one customer had faced today. So even though I told them that I would be coming to the branch with my check stub and deposit slip, this was going to be a futile adventure. Apparently, they were unable to find the paperwork of one of the tellers. I even had to listen to a heated discussion by the tellers present regarding the whereabouts of the paperwork. After being told by one of the tellers that the bank manager could possibly deposit the funds into my account, I was then told that would not be possible. To cap this off, I was then told that I could not cash another check because the other funds were not showing in my account. I find it difficult to believe that if I am being told that the funds will be deposited, that at least a partial amount of the funds cannot be made available to the customer. But if paperwork cannot be found, how would it be possible to get the funds deposited at "anytime" if there is not documentation to back up the transaction. This has caused me great concern because I am thinking that I will run into this same situation on Thursday along with a different answer as to why the funds have not been deposited.
