On trails I've seen birds of all different colors, eagle, deer, rabbits, fox, snakes, toads, butterflies, and owls. All wildlife seen are amazing! The trails are gravel and well maintained. There are two ways to access the beach and you are able to walk the length of it, swim, sit ect. Two Rentable campsites and 1 rentable pavilion with heat, water and bathrooms. There is also a separate restroom near the lookout tower. Trails I break down to four. A more open air one that can get hot if walking in the summer. A wooded one that is sheltered by trees, keeping you cooler. The beach trail and a smaller grass trail where you are likely to see butterflies and deer.

We…read morestarted out on the Butterfly path, which was short and easily walked, and then transitioned to Hemlock Ridge and finally Bluebell Valley and then back on Hemlock Ridge. Bluebell Valley had some areas that were steep and slippery and a huge flight of stairs. We got to see a snake and a deer, as well as chipmunks. There are many beautiful trees, but unfortunately the water was so low that the stream was barely running. We saw one picnic pavilion and there was a restroom. Metro Parks does a great job taking care of their parks.

It never ceases to amaze. The parking is never ending. The beach goes on forever. There is an abundance of picnic areas, grills, pavilions, and public bathrooms. The walking trails are more than a mile long. And then there is the lake... that big beautiful lake. It is just a fantastic place to spend a day. Go with friends. Take your kids and grandkids. There are several entrance to walk out on the beach with restrooms on the edge. To walk to the beach you go through the sand dunes so you feel like you are on a true vacation. The beach is very big. Lots of cool rocks and beach glass to look for. We saw people wind surfing, jet sking and swimming. The water was rougher than we are used to but the kids had life jackets so no issues. Suggest wear good water shoes because there are lots of rocks in the sand.

The bathrooms are spotless. The beach has runners for wheelchairs. The break wall creates a safe water environment for every watersport. The expansive beach is great for strolling. There's a bathroom that only kind of smells. Close by is the lighthouse. It has a small museum. This area would seem to attract many tourists. It however doesn't seem that crowded. Most people are on the beach but but that many though. It seems cleaner than many beaches. The sand doesn't have a lot of cigarette butts and litter. It's kept clean pretty good. The water is kind of murky but it's apparently safe. Along with the beach is the park. There's some great views. It seems like a safe area. There's usually someone on patrol. It has a public bathroom. It doesn't reek of piss. They charge for parking but you can park for free on a side street.
