Place is very shady. They clearly know nothing of the California Consumer Privacy Act. I tried to cash a Western Union money order today, while I was waiting 15 mins for the employee to "enter me into their system," I witnessed an older man clearly caught in their predatory loan scheme. He was obviously confused about something, and rather than answer his question they gave him a hotline number to call. After what seemed like forever, the employee gave me a sticky note to write my confidential SSN, they must have run a background check on me or something because they then printed out a list of the addresses where I've resided over the last 10 years. At this point, they're telling me to write down a list of three references and their phone numbers for them to call and verify before we can get started. This is when I got a bad taste in my mouth, and I asked them to cancel the transaction because I have somewhere to be. Even then, they held on to my confidential info for at least another five minutes while they "called their manager" on their cell phone (on speaker) to no avail. No answer there. Super unprofessional. I finally had to get pushy, they tried to take a copy of my driver's license at which point I asked why they were doing so if we aren't doing a transaction. They rolled their eyes and gave me my info back, after asking at least three separate times. I almost said something impolite, and I'm Canadian! That should show how fishy this place is. 10/10 would not recommend. Go to Money Tree in Oceanside. After reading other reviews online it seems like they would have tried to tax the money order heavily to top it all off. I'm super glad I didn't waste an hour of my life in this dingy building just for them to hit me with the 10% fee. Felt like they were trying to steal my identity or something equally as creepy/weird. All the while making me out to be suspect and trying to verify me with references because I needed to cash a money order. Extremely bizarre. Called 5 different places to see who had the lowest fees this was the only place that didn't do it over the phone, then the person at the counter couldn't even tell me or figure it out had to get a manager and turned out to be 2.75% almost a full point higher than every other place in town read more

Went there today to get a loan in a time crunch. Long story short our dog got hit by a car and we needed money asap. I called ahead of time to ask how much the fee would be to cash my check. The lady said over a staticky phone line something along the lines with come in and would happy to help can't disclose that information over the phone. I said I would see them shortly. I got here and there were three women here to greet me. The lady with the blonde hair helped me and later found out she is fairly new. So she had me write my information on pieces of paper which I appreciated but it was only just us in there. Nevertheless I appreciated the discretion. I gave her all the information she needed. She asked me if my address was correct on my ID and I said yes without thinking. And so when it came time to sign some papers. I realized she had put my old address. So I apologized and told her I'm sorry my license has my updated address and that my ID has my old address. Also my reference's name was misspelled. I was promise the corrections would be made. So she had me sign the agreement that she had printed out. I did, and then they charged me 3 dollars and some changed to cash a 105 dollar mileage check from my employer. I was asking questions like what's the wait time for next time and would it be long. The lady training immediately said this wasn't even that long. I told her I didn't say this was long I asked how long would it take have to wait if I brought in a check next time. She said it depends on how long it takes us to verify the check. I was just gathering information for this review. I was not trying to he a difficult customer. Long ass story short this is a good place, they fast and pretty efficient. high fees but to not have a bank and to get my checks in cash is pretty awesome. dont get the green dot card they offer theyre advertising it right now. its a scam that card has high monthly fees and fees for cashing,withdrawing, and loading money onto the card. and even fees for mobile check load which won't work by the way because they can't see your id through the phone. read more

Went here today because my aunt sent my son money for a present. it was not a large amount and the girl refused to let me pick it up because my ID said Kimberly and my aunt put Kim on the transfer, the address, middle name and last name, phone number were all correct. I drove to the next closest western union and picked up the money in less than two minutes and they informed me it was absurd that I had to find another location and the previous location should have honored me receiving the funds. read more

The girl who is always there was rude when I asked questions about receiving a loan I needed. Made up multiple lies. Refused to help me and had an attitude but the person in front of me she helped like nothing. Wouldn't even give one star. Closes hella early and takes lunch longer then she needs too. Easy in, easy out. I had a check I needed to cash now that I'm back and visiting from Australia, I've closed my American bank accounts and was told by some banks I wouldn't be able to cash my check with them unless I opened an account etc. so I researched and decided that a cash checking place would work best. My mum and I were the first ones in the door at 10 am when they opened. The store is quiet and clean, a bit strange though that there is no safety glass or any other protective decor for the staff even though they're dealing with cashing out small to large sums of money. I had to start an account in order to cash my check. It was really quick, you must provide an ID, SSN, an address, occupation, and a $2 one time fee to get the account started. I was only charged $15 to cash my check, about $10 less than what banks had quoted me so I was very happy with that. While I'm visiting here, if I receive any more checks I'll definitely be cashing them all here because of the convenience. read more
