BUYER BEWARE, SCAM ALERT I purchased a 2007 Chevy Tahoe LS from Check Auto after being told it had a clean 5.3L Vortec engine that had been recently inspected and was in great condition by the owner. I paid $400 for transport and an additional $1,000 deposit via Zelle. Within 45 minutes of delivery (about 20 miles of driving), the vehicle overheated and the check engine light came on. A mechanic inspection revealed the vehicle did NOT have the advertised 5.3L engine--it had a mismatched "Frankenstein" 4.8L engine with no coolant, incorrect spark plugs, engine misfires, and clear signs of poor-quality repairs. I was told the engine needs full replacement, costing $5,000-$6,500. A second independent mechanic confirmed the same. The pictures were also deceiving as the car had multiple peeling clear coat areas not shown in pictures. When I contacted the dealer, they dismissed the issue and claimed it was essentially not their problem because the car was sold "as is." There is also no signed purchase agreement because the paperwork was returned to me by UPS because of an address error. Despite clear misrepresentation, they have refused to work toward a resolution or refund. I can't, in good conscience sign the paperwork as it was not the car I paid for. I've already spent over $1,400 trying to diagnose the issue and even offered to compromise, but they have refused all reasonable solutions. Based on my experience, and similar reviews from others, this appears to be a pattern. I have filed an official complaint with CarGurus as well as the Florida Motor Vehicle Field Operations Office (Region 6) at DmvRegion6@flhsmv.gov. I had a really good experience with Check Auto! I dealt with Ali, Mario and Jordan and they answered all of my questions and provided me with the history of the vehicle I was interested in. They were courteous and professional during the entire process and enabled me to purchase my Jeep Wrangler at a very reasonable price point! Was interested in a car, asked if they would hold the car. Was told yes for a $500 deposit. I asked if that deposit was refundable, they said yes. I made the deposit. I booked a rental car for my wife to go from Saint Augustine to Tampa to look at the vehicle and test drive it. We like the car but we're told that they don't have the time today to finish the deal because the finance lady doesn't work there but she would get with me tomorrow , I extended the rental for another day per her recommendation that she would be done with it the next day. Blew me off that following day I never picked up the phone until 4 PM to which my wife was in Saint Augustine not Tampa... Complete waste of that rental there. After getting a hold of the lady to run my credit and apply for financing it takes about 2 weeks to determine that I need to come up with more money, I originally planned to put 2000 down that number eventually became 4000 so that they could do a buy here pay here. I came up with the money, couldn't get a hold of them some more... Had to use the money for a rental to go to Wisconsin for the kids court ordered visitation with their bio Dad. Which the reason I was buying the truck in the first place was to not have to get a rental. I was told repeatedly that I would get paperwork by Jordan so that I could see anything related to terms before I handed them $4000. Jordan eventually falls off and doesn't tell me that I need to deal with Ali personally now as it's a BHPH so she is too busy to call me back or whatever and blowing me off when I call Leading to about a month and a half total not being able to get a hold of Ali or Jordan the finance lady. Ali told me he would send me paperwork so that I could buy the vehicle remotely and I told him I still haven't even been told how long I would be paying for roughly what the payments would be or anything... And at this point I wanted out of the vehicle. I didn't have the $4000 anymore anyway nor would I give it to them if I had. I asked for my refund back. Ali tells me it's been too long he's been holding the vehicle for a month and a half and that I need to deal with it. I show Ali the text where he said himself that the deposit was refundable. He said he would talk to his partner and get back to me. More blowing me off indefinitely- now he won't take my phone calls at all. They never did take the vehicle down. I have had problems since day 1 with this place. Ali the owner is a scam artist. Don't agree to give him the card info for payments. He will charge your card whenever he pleases. The day after I got the car is when the problems started. The battery died. I had to go back and get a new one. I have replaced 3 tires, the battery twice, the alternator, the starter, and the radiator. 550 dollars down the drain. He has taken 200 without my permission and then when I asked him to take the car back, we set up a time and he said it would be 30 dollars for a tow truck. I agreed. He never showed. Then today he took it into his own hands and charged my card 650, making me negative 575 in the bank. The guy screams and curses at his employees and they hate him. He's rude and arrogant. I plan to take legal action and go to the news as well. Avoid him at all costs lest you get sold a junker and have your money stolen too. Terrible business. SCAM! Drove an hour and a half to look at a pickup truck. We did most of our communication through the offer up app. Salesperson stated that he would sell the car with tax,tag, and title for a certain price. My wife and I drove down to them and when we got there test drive the truck. Trucks AC did not work even though it was described that it did. Interior of the truck had a terrible smell due to it being owned by a smoker. Also not told to me. I messaged him multiple times asking about accidents and any issues with the truck as we had a very long drive and he was very short with me and just telling me to come look at it. I wanted to see the title however the owner "who lives far away" went home with the title. About a half hour later of trying to tell the guy that we agreed on a price for everything he wanted me to pay an extra $500 for the tax tag and title. Then... the owner shows up (even though I was told he went home for the day and wasn't coming back until the morning). I'm 22 y/o. The owner told me that "this is not a place for children" and that this is a "legitimate" business for adults. Come to find out they did not have a title for the truck. Stay away from this business. I bought a Honda Civic last year for my son from Ali at Check Auto and it was a bad experience. My son was going to ollege and needed a reliable vehicle. We test drove the car and we discovered some bearing issues with the rear wheel which he said he would fix. He also had his mechanic do an oil change. When I picked up the car everything seemed fine. I got the car home and had to take it back as it was leaking oil all over my drive way. I took the car back and his mecahanic said he fixed it. It did stop leaking but later when i took the car for an oil change they wouldn't do it because what the mechanic did was put silicone around the valve so they were unable to undo the valve to leak the old oil out. I ended up having to repalce the entire oild pan as well as fixing the issue with the rear wheel. When I called and texted Ali about the issue he didn't even respond. I followed up and still no response. I will just leave him to bad karma as it will come back to him eventually. Based on my experience I would not recommend them to anyone. read more

They failed to report: *Exhaust leak *Car had previously been flooded (massive water damage) *Turn signals do not work *Check engine light was on (Ali lied to me and said it wasn't) * dings and scratches on the car (description said car was free of all visible dings) Overall, the car was listed in good condition, and I noticed some flaws that I brought up, and forced them to address, however they hid most of the flaws. Upon purchasing the car, they made me sign a contract that said they are not responsible for providing legitimate descriptions of cars. That's like getting on a boat and signing a contract that you're not guaranteed a boat that will float. I will NEVER purchase from them again. They made the car buying experience hell and refused to facilitate shipping, forcing me to go at it alone, with the only dealer support being a fuzzy photo of a brokerage. I can't even begin to fix the car because I can't get in the damn thing without becoming very sick due to my lung problems! DO NOT BUY FROM THIS DEALERSHIP. THERE ARE BETTER DEALS OUT THERE. 17 yr old son purchased his first car, online from Ali . We were told prior to purchase that the exhaust and catalytic converter had been replaced. Upon receipt of the car, obvious this had not happened, they had just painted the tips of the exhaust silver for pictures. Furthermore, there was massive water damage on the interior of the car with mold present. When we contacted him regarding this, he screamed at me and my son, calling us liars and telling us it was bullshit and there was no water. We have the pictures to prove it. My son has asthma, so obviously this would have been a deal breaker had he been honest when asked about any water damage or issues. You may also want to check his criminal record. Do NOT go here! This place is terrible. Called on a car and they told me it was there so I drove the 2 hour drive there. When I arrived the man who could not give me a call back all day in regards to the car was there and he told me a "customer was test driving the car" I asked him how long it would be and he said he had no idea if the customer was taking it to a mechanic. Which in another review on google his response to a customer complaint he claims he doesn't even allow customers to take car to mechanic lol! When car showed up I asked the man if he worked there and he said YES! The inside of the car was filled with mechanical stuff to fix the car and was plugged up to a sensor machine. When I called the guy out on lying to me and told him he obviously was "fixing" the car he started yelling at me crazy! Avoid this place!!!! read more

I bought a car from Ali, I got it 40 minutes down the road to have the engine blow on me , they then took the car back for repair which took over a month to do. He barely kept in touch with me about my car and or it being repaired so after almost 2 weeks of all my calls and texts being ignored I payed someone to drive me back to Tampa to see if my car was ready at all only to find out that it had not even been started even though they had the new engine to put in it within the first week they had it. This was my first car I had ever bought that was not a private sale and after seeing the good reviews I thought I could trust him. After everything, the used engine he had found for the car got put in at this sketchy little engine shop in Tampa. Drove fine for about 2 days until it started misfiring, I took it to a shop but when I got there it was no longer misfiring but the service engine soon light was on, he cleared the misfire code and I took it back to his dealership they told me to replace the ignition coils and spark plugs. I did just that, I payed $800 for the new coil and plug pack plus labor costs and diagnosis fees. The mechanics that replaced the engine said they chose the best coils and plugs from the 2 engines and swapped them out but at the shop I had gotten them replaced and fixed at you could very clearly tell that the engine came out of a flood car the spark plugs looked like they were sitting in water for a long time. Now after replacing that my car is leaking out antifreeze and will not stop, and the dealership will not help. I was taken advantage of at this dealership, he could tell I was excited to buy my first car and totally ripped me off. Now I'm stuck on the side of road in Florida and of course he still ignores my calls. The one good person that works there is Edward his mechanic who I should never have had to contact him but luckily I did manage to get his number, as he was the only one that knew what was going on with my car. Ali doesn't seem to care about his customers anymore once you leave his car lot, it's not his problem. Nothing but bad service from him so far. Don't trust him. Don't trust the 3-4 guys that walk around speaking Spanish to each other and then all bombard you with different answers or solutions to questions you may have. Very disappointed with my car that I got from this dealership, would never recommend buying even a toothpick from this dealership. Save yourself the stress I'm under, don't go here. read more
