I have used numerous tree services in Statesville over the past 5 years. They all did excellent work, property care and clean up . Decided to ignore the reviews and met with their salesman David and I hired Cheap and Great treeservices August 25 2026, to remove 2 large, long heavy high up poplar branches overhanging my pool and precious bamboo garden trellises. I went over the how to details with the salesman David to explain and show there was ample work space on the pool patio to carefully gently drop the large limbs. He assured me his climber new just the roping and knotting methodology to cut and slowly lower large 12 inch diameter limbs (which look much smaller that high up) I hired them and watched the ground crew pull the branches over top of the trellis while the climber gently layed them down on the flagstone patio where the 5 member ground crew cut them into manageable sizes to hand carry down a path to the big grappler truck on the street. They do not spend time chipping the branches so we were spared the loud annoying noise of the chipper. Then, same day they climbed a leaning 100ft tall 3ft diameter pine next to our neighboring homes and power lines and felled each branch and trunk section perfectly and expertly grappled each trunk section precisely into their large truck bed. They laid down professional hd protective matts on the lawn for their skid steer grappler to assist in the process. All of their equipment was top notch. The crew are hispanic but the foreman and salesman spoke English. I used Google translate to communicate with the ground crew. I realize most homeowners are hands off customers relying on the judgement of the tree service companies to make decisions. That is probably where some bad reviews come from. I highly recommend Cheap and Great Tree Services. They immediately sent me their multi million dollar liability coverage insurance certificate with our names as additional insured which I believe most customers do not know they can and should request before work begins. They showed up on time calling 15 minutes before arriving. Gave us the marketing and senior discounts. Very happy and impressed with the outcomes . They gave me discount for paying with a check and I tipped all the guys with extra $ given to the climber. read more

Cheap And Great - Tree Services Near Me

I would avoid using this company at all cost. They work too fast and damage surrounding items, for example, they scratched my new fence and offered no resolution. In addition, they rushed the clean up process and left debris in my yard and in my neighbor's yard and on their cars. I was left to clean up the mess to avoid conflict. For the price I paid, they should have cleaned up the debris better. In addition, when I reached out, Richard the representative I had blocked my number and when I reached out to the office, they said send pictures and that they would send someone out to fix the issues but they did not. I am very dissatisfied and I would not recommend this company to anyone. Save yourself the headache even if it cost more. read more

Job well done. Took down three trees, trimmed a limb off another tree. Hauled away debris. Meticulous work crew! $2,100. Paid by check. read more

Fast, efficient, and professional from start to finish. Tony and his team were incredibly caring and well-coordinated--every member knew exactly what to do. Their pricing was highly competitive; they gave me the lowest quote out of four requests I submitted. They safely removed 12 massive 50-foot trees that were overhanging my house--all in just 4 hours. Then, they ground down 20 stumps in another 4 hours, 12 fresh and 8 old ones. They left my yard spotless and reinstalled a section of my fence they had to remove for the bobcat to access the property. I can't recommend Tony and his crew enough. Exceptional work! read more

Do not use this company. They are an absolute scam. Called today in am. Literally less than hour later, they showed up by house (they won't park in your driveway if possible) vehicle plate will be picked on cameras. Ricky gave two quotes and his buddy came out to mark tree and take pics . Both spoke very little English. He said they'll come back today to do job. I asked if I can pay by check. He said yes , when they are done. I waited all day, and they never showed up. Called the number at 5 pm to see if they were ever coming back, same girl answered every time and me the runaround. I told her cancel my appointment & wasn't playing her game. To which she was chuckling. Yes I'm having them investigated, and their plates were picked up along with other info affiliated with my property. read more

Amazing! Richard and his crew are fast and efficient-and so careful with your house and landscape. I highly recommend them! :)

Obviously customer service is the lowest priority!! We paid over $6000 to have trees cut down and stumps ground. They did not grind down the stumps and now it's holding up our concrete to put up a building and no one will call back or come out and fix it!! DO NOT USE!!! read more

Richard and his team were amazing to work with. Professional work ethic fast and thorough!.

These guys are awesome, easy to work with and very responsive to my questions. We had them take down a tree and grind the stump. Job well done! read more

My grandmother was scammed by this company. The prices are not cheap and the quality of the services are not great. Please listen to the low reviews. Two star review for visibility but it should be 0. read more

DO NOT USE - SCAM. Received a coupon for $500 off a quote of $1000 or more. Quoted me $1200, told them I had the coupon, he acknowledged this several times and told me he would include it. I signed the form, which **he edited afterwards without my knowledge**. Scratched our driveway up picking up the limbs also. Here's the kicker, when I called them to dispute, they literally told me to "shut the f* up" and hung up. Could not recommend this place less. read more

Don't let the name fool you, they are terrible and not cheap. They left my property a mess and left multiple partially snapped limps on surrounding trees. Although they promised to come back and correct they never returned or contacted me again. I have emailed their HQ in Georgia with no reply. These people don't deserve to remain in business, Beware! read more

Guess you can't be "cheap" and "great". Completely ignored my spider senses and was bitten. Agree with other commenters with less than transparent pricing. Danger #1: Was first quoted $14,000 to remove roughly 20 trees of various sizes and when I asked for time to get other quotes, the used car salesman came out and fast forward, we agreed upon $7K. They started fast and impressed me with their ability to start same day and massed on the site with numerous branded vehicles. Danger 2: But they worked into complete darkness (after 9 pm) where safety had to be an issue....especially since there was an "out of the blue" snow storm in Charlotte. Danger 3: Next day, Rep started asking for payment before job was complete and what did I do.....you guessed it. ...Paid them. Completed the job on the second day. Did they check in to make sure I was satisfied of the job well-done? Of course not. But to be honest, with all the snow on the ground, neither side would be able to tell if the cleanup was good. Check back in after snow melted.....no! On to the next. Danger 4: When the snow melted.....war zone with stump grind holes and crap all over the place. Also, had a broken sprinkler line. After 5 phone calls, they sent out a "guy" to repair the sprinkler line and after a week, it failed. Attempted to call after that and they started sending my calls to voicemail. Called from my work number and you guessed it, they answered....that time. After that, that number was blacklisted. During the final call, now from my wife's phone, demanded to speak to the manager and the rep said she couldn't but had left the owner Oscar my previous messages. After finding out that the owner owns both locations in Charlotte and Atlanta area, I called that number and when I asked to speak to the owner, they refused and simply hung up on me. Needless to say.....don't get blinded by the branded fleet.....unprofessional, sketchy practices and poor customer service. read more

They did a job for a neighbor and ruined my yard by turning their overloaded vehicles around. Left several messages. They never responded

This company did an amazing job on cutting down some old damaged trees! They showed up on time and returned the next day to finish stump grinding as promised! Beware that they did a bit of upselling when they came but it was well worth the additional work because they gave a great price to take down a few more trees!! Very hard working crew who left our yard debris free. Highly recommend this company!! read more

Greatly exceeded expectations! They did an excellent job. Super service at a fair price. Almost half the cost of the next lowest estimate. I'd recommend them to anyone. We were very pleased. And, they did a great clean-up, and were very considerate of our property. read more

Don't bother... terrible service. They came to quote the job, then told me they could not come for 2 days because of expected rain, then told me they couldn't come on Wednesday because they had to do the work they missed on 2 days of rain!!! LIARS..I hate LIARS!!! read more

they did a fantastic Job on removing 1 large overgrown cottonwood including stump removal, and raising the canopy on half a dozen other trees. they also cut back a line of heavy brush at the transition of our backyard and the woods beyond it. now we can mow the backyard much easier! don't be afraid to negotiate a generous deal with them upon first quote!. HIGHLY RECOMMEND, read more

I used Cheap & Great Tree Services from Charlotte last week. Cut down 5 trees & removed 3 large branches from 3 others. I thought over all they did a great job. The 7/8 man crew worked like a well oiled machine. They did a great job cleaning up all the waste and were very mindful of the property. The only complaint I have is the fact that down along the lake front I have post lights with 12 inch white vinal globes. One of the branches to be cut off was above one of them. They did not say anything and I did not notice until after they left, but they broke the light fixture off. I could have been avoided if he would have taken the time to use a rope and lower, but it was getting late, so he did not take the time. Those fixtures were getting hard to find the last time I needed one, so I ordered a spare. I just have to use my time now to replace it. The other complaint I have is their flyer offers discount coupons, veterans and seniors discounts. I never saw any kind of break down in the given price. When I asked about the discounts it was, "it is figured in that price". I don't know if it was or not without a break down. read more

the name should be Not Cheap and Terrible. they did not do a good job. they were supposed to be at our house at 10 a.m. but showed up at 7a.m. and started banging on our neighbors doors, trying to drum up more work. they cut down 2 bushes , that we planted 20 years ago, that were not supposed to be removed. When I went outside to tell them it was too early he told me one of his guys cut down the bushes and that he was sorry and would reimburse us for them. He then offered my husband $30. I said absolutely not. I took $200 off the total bill and that was generous on my part. It took them 2 days to come back to grind all the stumps in our contract. They left a huge mess and their trucks left oil on the street. I have never written a bad review until now. I highly encourage you not to use them! BTW their prices were not cheap read more

Excellent work. Quick negotiation. Showed up within the hour and started work. Took down 6 trees. Cleaned up and left. Highly recommend this team of tree slayers :-) read more

We have been scammed!! On Mar10, Richard quoted $900 to cut one medium to small tree and stump grind. He wanted $300 deposit and said tree would be cut with the following Friday or Saturday. Friday they did not show I called and was told trees would be cut the next day and Richard would get back to us later that night and let us know what time on Saturday. We never received a call back and they did not show on Saturday. On Friday, Mar 24, our neighbor was having trees removed from another company. I talked to the owner of this company to inquire how much it would cost to remove our tree. He responded $400, we were on our way to dr appointment and wasn't able to pay him at this time, he said he would just leave his card on the door and I can call him and we can settle up when we got back! Upon paying this tree service, I told him what had happened with "Great and Cheap", (not hearing back from them and the deposit), he shook his head and responded one should not be required to give a deposit for tree service. And he is so right... a few years back, we had 5 LARGE Cryptomeria trees removed and stump ground, which cost 2 grand and we never had to pay a deposit. Today is Mar 30, and we have never heard back from "Cheap and Great Tree Services". I just called this afternoon regarding the $300 deposit return and explained the time frame and never hearing back from anyone. She said the deposit was non refundable and look at my yellow slip and that I signed it. And somehow when I signed it, I don't believe that "non refundable' on there! Pretty Discouraging!! read more
