Went to Che Bong and ordered the flantastic che and the mango tea. The che was delicious- creamy, smooth coffee coconut milk and an assortment of jellies. The flan really pulls the whole dessert together. I scarfed it down faster than anticipated and went back for a second one the next day- definitely worth visiting Che Bong to try it out!
The mango tea had a very strong flavour, with generous chunks of mango inside. They were a bit irregularly cut and you had to really intentionally position the straw to get the bigger chunks, but overall the drink was very good. Don't get it if you're expecting any subtlety in the flavour tho! It's a very bold-tasting drink.
The workers are friendly and to the point. The service can be a little slow depending on the time of day. The first day I went i was waiting for quite a while, and the second time the wait from ordering to receiving was very short.
The shop is very small, and it can get hot. But there's places to sit while you wait, or you can stand outside the shop in the building it's within. The building itself is a little dismal, but that doesn't bother me.
I will definitely be going back to try more menu items!
TL;DR: Che Bong's flantastic che is a must-try for Vietnamese dessert lovers, and their drinks are flavourful and delicious. Go to Chinatown to try out this hidden gem of a store! read more
