Not sure how these people can call themselves medical professionals or even claim that they care…read moreabout people or their patients. We moved to Durango about a year ago with our two children and set up appointments to establish them as patients. We saw the doctor once or twice that fall for a minor cold etc. Flash forward this year... I call to schedule an appointment and they tell me my daughter has been dropped as a patient because we never paid a $200ish bill?!? I apologize but I'm clueless and offer to settle up on the phone when the gal says it's already been sent to collections so I reach out to the collections company with my name, my husbands name, nothing. No record... I call back to the practice explaining to them what is going on... no help... then a few days later we get a letter for the collection company... these idiots at the Pediatric Partners of the Southwest billed to my husbands first name and my maiden last name which I haven't gone by in years so they didn't even send the bill to the right person/name. They sent my child's account to collection under some fake name and then cancelled her as a patient. I've never in my life heard of a doctors office cancelling a patient over non-payment let alone a child, let alone because of a mistake their own office made. This place is greedy and negligent and if this is the kind of attention they pay to their billing and accounting it doesn't set a good time for the care they take with their patients. I would rather drive to Farmington where people have a brain to take down the correct information and not penalize innocent children because of their employees' incompetence.

We were on vacation in Silverton and had a minor emergency with our 3 year old. Called at 8:00 am…read morefor appointment and we were seen by the doctor by 10:00 am. All I can say is wow! Outstanding doctor and staff. Highly recommend them.

I am incredibly unhappy with this practice. While I was with my abusive partner they seemed sweet…read moreand kind to me all around. When I managed to get away from him that all changed. I was worried about my youngest getting caught up on vaccines and other issues that came up. Being a long term trauma survivor, I began over explaining to which Dr. Z had this condescending attitude toward me that wasn't there when the father was in the office with me the first time we came in. I was trying to explain how I was unable to get care for my youngest for the first year, something I couldn't explain the first visit while said partner was in the office with me. They kept handing me a tablet and trying to give me an ACEs evaluation for ME, the mother. For someone like me the evaluation was extremely triggering and messed with my head for a week after, flaring up my c-ptsd symptoms. They said it was because they wanted to help but seemed to quickly degrade into a scale on which to judge my ability to parent my children. I had car issues for over 6 months and their in house therapist who seemed eager to get my oldest alone to talk to her kept calling and asking about if she can come in for therapy-even after I told her my car didn't function well enough to get to Durango, and that I was going to look around for a therapist I felt would be a good fit. Anyone saying "I think she needs someone other than Mom to talk to." as a therapist with a fake smile on their face just puts up red flags for me. She called a few more times anyway, and finally gave up. Another creepy thing I have noticed is how they call and ask for the child and not the guardian of the child to give test results or to speak about healthcare. You can bet they can't wait for a kid to turn like 13 or 14 and get them alone with them, it just doesn't feel right that they are so set on wanting to reach around the parent's like that. The way their patient portal is set up also meant I had to jump through hoops to access it because it is for my children they said. Keep in mind that none of my children are over age 9. The last visits I had there they found out my youngest had COVID, and told me it wasn't Covid but just Coronaviris. I took my youngest in a second time when it seemed she got better for a bit but then was waking up with neon green snot coming down her face. They wanted to wait and see but didn't say this, instead they gaslit me about me explaining my own health history when young and how ent issues ran in my family saying my child had no sinuses. They could have just said they wanted to wait and see what happened instead of giving antibiotics, because doing nothing and waiting to see is still a form of treatment that the parent should be informed of and agree to, or at least have the option of getting a second opinion. I took my LO to Animas Urgent care right after which is 10 minutes away. They looked shocked when I said she had Coronavirus, and kept assuring me that it was Covid. So that's where I found out the woman at this place lied. She was clear of the virus but the doctor there did give her antibiotics and guess what... in 24 hours she was acting like her normal self and got better real fast! Now I am getting a bill? I am disabled and on medicaid and my children get it as well. There are no Co-pays for children on Colorado's Medicaid program. The for-profit approach is pretty clear to me now in how they wanted me to just bring my child in if I had any worry and didn't seem eager to do anything about her sickness. I am now going to seek care for my children elsewhere, a place that doesn't make me feel like I am an annoying fly buzzing about with concerns and wanting unquestionable access to my children. It's just plain creepy.
