Then I ended up in the hospital with severe pancreatitis right before my consult with him. When I went to cancel he so kindly offered to take out my gallbladder and also was the only one in my 3 years of searching for answers to diagnose my "hernia" pain as a large endometrioma. That alone was worth seeing him for! He did a fantastic job on my surgery, took the time to speak to me and my husband prior and answer questions. He had poor bedside manners. He belittled other doctors and he undermined my genuine concern. I asked him if he would be doing my surgery in entirety by himself or if there are residents/trainees involved since I do not wish the residents or fellows to do any surgery on me. I understand teaching hospital and I understand training but in this particular surgery I did not wish trainees to work on me. I am scared of robots and it's personal. He could have said sorry my trainees depend on me to teach them and all patients of mine have trainees experience. I would have said thank you but no thanks and left. But instead he started using cutting remarks and mocking my intelligence as well as my concern. He said " residents come and go. It's not that I would leave to have tea with one of your colleagues while residents are doing surgery ". All I wanted was him to tell me if it was possible to not have any trainee at the console of da Vinci robot during the length of the surgery because I as a patient am not comfortable otherwise. Was I asking for too much? And he could have said no and we would have parted ways and I would look for another surgeon. But he had to be sarcastic and demeaning.

Recovery took 6-8 weeks as expected but has been pain free since. During his recovery, I started experiencing hip pain. I learned is had a deteriorated SI (sacroiliac) joint. I treated it with steroid injections every 90 days for a year and a half which helped but never quite got me out of pain. We went back to Dr. Khalil and he was able to schedule me for a bilateral SI fusion where they bolt the two joint together from each side to avoid the unnecessary movement in the joint. Although fairly noninvasive, I was back to work in two weeks and now my pain is also 100% gone!!! Dr. Khalil is literally the best surgeon!!! We were both scared making surgery decisions and our only regret now is that we didn't do it sooner. His PA's are also amazing and helped with all our questions and help explain things in normal terms. If you are in pain, we would highly recommend him or at least consider him for a second opinion. He is not one to rush you into surgery which is hard to find these days but definitely the surgeon you want when the time comes!

I saw her on August 10, 2023 and my leg still bothers me from a Varithena injection that she gave me. My leg was not hurting me before she did the injection. I simply had a vein on my right calf that protruded out a little bit and some dark spider veins on the inside of my right ankle. The next thing I know I have a large "hard and dark" vein that hurts to the touch on my right calf and behind my knee hurts so bad. I had for months afterwards, difficulty walking down a set of stairs because of the pain in the rear of my knee on my right leg. I still, now in May 2024, nine (9) months later, am bothered with discomfort behind my right knee.. I never had any discomfort behind my right knee before that injection. And the vein that she injected into is still tender to the touch and dark and unsightly. I told her and her staff that they should have explained what to expect more before doing that injection because if I had known what I would go through with that Varithena injection, I would've left my leg alone. In addition, she did not make sure that I had compression stockings when she did the injection in my leg. They told me I had to go out and buy some myself and I was not able to purchase them right away because of my busy schedule. It actually took me weeks to get the proper compression stockings and on one of my subsequent appointments with Pensler, she laughingly said she probably should sell the compression stockings in her office to have them available for her patients. I said, yes that would have been good... I asked one of her assistants on my second appointment how many other people have problems with this Varithena material being injected and she said 80% of the people have the pain that I had after the Varithena injections. I told her that they definitely should warn people ahead of time and make sure that they want to deal with the pain afterwards and if it's worth it to them. Also, when I complained to Pensler about it, I told her I didn't want any more of those types of injections and she said, "oh you don't need anymore" but then when I came in on another day where she was not there, even though I thought I was going to see her because I was having still pain in my leg, one of her assistants who did a third or fourth ultrasound and told me that I needed two more injections in the back of my right thigh with that Varithena stuff. I told her "ohhhh, heck no". I told her that I don't want any more of those injections ever. I was used to, years before, having sclerotherapy injections done on my spider veins in my legs and I had never experienced any post-op pain like this. Then I went to see her one more time. I had suddenly started having a pretty severe pain in my ankle for the first time while on the trip out of the country at the end of October 2023. I wanted to make sure that I had not developed a blood clot in my leg. Pensler told me that she agreed with her assistant that I do need more injections with that horrible Varithena stuff. I again told her "no way" and I reminded her that she had previously said I didn't need anymore. And YES she is all about the MONEY. That one Varithena injection and two sclerotherapy injections that her assistant, Darryl, did to my leg on my second visit, when she wasn't there, and all the many ultrasounds that they did, they billed to my insurance over $5,600. Also, she told me on my first visit that she recommended that I get this procedure for "Mays Thurner Syndrome" done where she would put stents into my groin to aid the flow of blood to my heart and that would require me to take aspirin every day for the rest of my life and that too, I told her "oh, no way". When I told my new vein doctor what she recommended with the stents placed into my groin, my new doctor became so angry and said she could not believe that Pensler would recommend something like that, that would alter my life forever for just one small vein protruding on my right leg. My new doctor was horrified. Also, my new vein doctor "required" that I had compression stockings with me before she would do any injections and they also offered them for sale in their office. I feel that Pensler is very dishonest and very money driven and she's a terrible, terrible, terrible. I feel so upset that I trusted her totally and did not think to check her reviews online first before going to her. She has many, many bad reviews. I would never have gone to her if I had read her terrible reviews. In closing, I simply say... RUN, don't walk, away from this doctor's office.

Most of us don't review health care providers because we have to reveal some personal information…read morein the process. My experience here was bad enough it was worth that risk. I was referred here by another doctor for a minor non-surgical issue. I was asked to send all previous medical records before my appointment, which I did. I also verbally gave the doctor, internal medicine specialist Dr. Ruth Lerman, my medical history. Without my knowledge, her office sent my records out for a second opinion. However, I'd already HAD a second opinion AND had the necessary procedure done by the surgeon who referred me to Beaumont. What followed first was a relentless barrage of calls and even mail insisting I schedule a follow-up even though I kept telling them I had already had a second opinion and the problem taken care of before I ever set foot in their office. The calls kept coming. I told them I was NEVER returning to their center, as I already had a doctor and follow-up care scheduled. The calls continued. (All, oddly, coming in with caller ID from the Seychelles.) Then I got the bill for the "second opinion" consultation, which I had not been informed of nor consented to. I have great insurance so my share of it was small, but since the records did not need review and I'd already taken care of the problem, I believed it was unethical to expect my insurance company OR me to pay for it. It took weeks of fruitless calling before I finally emailed the hospital's appeals department. Their response? Basically that's what they do so that's what they did, without any medical or logical explanation at all. Through this time I kept getting calls to go to a follow-up appointment with Dr. Lerman - who by the way was not able to help my problem, so it's pretty much beyond me why I'd go back. I simply wanted a single consultation with this doctor and wasn't looking to become part of the Beaumont clan, caught forever in their Byzantine machinery. I can tell you this experience has set in stone that I'll never set foot in this place again. I suggest you do the same.

I don't understand these other reviews. I think some people have some pretty high expectations (in…read morethe wrong areas for a doctor's office). This isn't a flashy office, this is an office for working folks. Its affordable and the doctors are knowledgeable. I have been going to Northwood Physicians for many years and have never been dissatisfied with either the staff or the doctors. When I had pneumonia in high school, I went to two other doctors' offices and an emergency care facility on Dequindre Road and was misdiagnosed by all of them. It wasn't until my parents took me to Northwood that I was properly diagnosed with pneumonia and given the proper antibiotics to recover. Dr. Pawlowski listens and takes your narrative to heart. And the staff are always friendly to me. Of course every office overbooks patients, because they need to meet a certain profit quota each day to stay in business. But that's just the reality of living with a FOR-PROFIT healthcare system. I've never had a problem here and I feel like the staff really do care. ----------- One tip I would recommend for anyone seeing any doctor is to take the time to explain your condition. If the doctor tries to cut you off, keep going, the more they know, the more accurate of a diagnosis you will receive. Another tip, don't look for a doctor on Yelp people. This is your health! Take some time and do some real research. Half the people on yelp have a very different opinion from me on what constitutes a good experience with a business so why would I trust them on medical care?

Ohhhh.....where to start…read more I know Yelp isn't the first place people go for physician referrals but I am so unhappy with this office I just had to write something. If I can prevent at least one person from going here I'll feel like I have done some good. First I would like to say that Dr. Pawlowski is very good. I have never had a problem with him. He always took the time to listen to me talk about my problems and he always explained the diagnosis and treatment very well. However.......my biggest problem with the office was the staff. My last two visits totaled about 5 hours. The most complicated things that happened during these visits were blood draws and X-rays. One time the "nurse" couldn't find a vein (I don't have chubby arms. A vein shouldn't be hard to find) and another the X-ray "tech" had to take some X-rays over because he forgot to put slides in the machine. During my 3 hour visit I also got to watch someone's pre-teen child help mommy try to find someones lost records. I don't know if they were ever found and no it wasn't bring you daughter to work day. Not confidence builders. Since trying to switch doctors having my records copied and sent to my new doctor has taken so long I had to finally go pick them up myself. Even though I filled out the paperwork almost three weeks before my appointment they couldn't find the time to copy and send them. It took them one week to process the request and another to send me a letter requesting a $20 co-pay to copy the records. They did however manage to send copies of my blood work to another doctor when asked to send over everything BACK related. I never felt like my time was respected. There was always a sort of "We'll get to it when we get to it." attitude in the office and the stacks and stacks of records behind and around the desk just look bad. If my Vet's office was run like this office I would never go back. I don't know why I put up with it for over 3 years. With unemployment so high I don't know why more competent people or just more people can't be hired to run this place right. Dr. Pawlowski is doing his patients a disservice by allowing this to continue. I feel better now after venting since I wasn't able to fully complain to the "lady" who runs the office because she hung up on me.
