This store is amazing, they have everything you could think of spice-wise, and then they have more!…read moreBaking stuff, beans, spices, seasoning mixes, protein options, everything you need for making your own tea, bitters, olive oils, and still so much more! I was shocked to see just how big this shop was, there's an upstairs section, and then the aisles kept coming. Everytime you thought you were coming to the end, there was a little maze that took you somewhere new. We spent almost an hour in here, and if we weren't heading home the next day and limited on suitcase space, we could've spent even more time browsing and buying. We ended up getting a variety of seasoning blends, lentils, bitters, powdered cheese and egg whites, and some spices. Can't wait to start cooking with all of it! Customer service was very friendly and welcoming.

OKalustyan's I'm very familiar with Kalustyan''s Spice Shop…read more They have it all! I used to use spices on my food. I can't tolerate most spices after stomach surgery. Recently I am introducing more and more because I love the taste. No doubt I eat a lot of TUMs but it's worth it some days. In the past I've had the Marhaba Mayan Tropical Sea Salt purchased here. I'm very fortunate to have a Yelp gift of the same Sea Salt without making a trip to the store. Here is the quote from the package. I recommend you visit the location for everything spicy your heart desires. I'll stick with sea salt for now. TROPICAL SEA SALT "This sea salt was harvested off the coast of Guatemala salt ponds, created along the mangrove forests, where Mayan began harvesting salt since as early as 1000 BC. Nurtured by mineral-rich volcanic soil and the tropical waters this salt lend it a mild minerality and higher moisture content, making it an ideal finishing salt, enhanced with the taste of the tropics. Adds flavor to both sweet & savory foods, such as seafood & grilled meat," It's definitely good!

The meat prices used to be extremely attractive, and they have probably gone up 50% to 60% over the past 8 to 12 weeks. At the chicken or lamb over rice station, the container has shrunk down in size by roughly 40%. It does taste pretty good, but is now more expensive than chipotle, fluffies, or any chicken over rice food truck in the city. On our most recent visit last weekend, the new container is so small that there is hardly any rice in our chicken over rice dish. And it now costs almost $11 per pound after tax. Yes, I weighed the food and the container. Fluffies, for example, which I am not affiliated with at all, is a much better deal than Tashkent. At Fluffies I am paying roughly $6.75 per pound of food, and it is extremely delicious. The salad bar is still has an amazing selection, but it is $11-$21 per pound, depending on what you get. That is whole food prices! Overall Tashkent used to be a tremendous value, and now it is average. I can get average anywhere in the city. This has ruined it for me. And I'm pretty much done with it.
