We stayed here in 2009 and loved every minute of it! Chateau Laloin was our home away from home as we explored the chateaus in Cheverny, Chenonceau and Chambord. We booked a room for 4 persons for 118€ and a room for 3 persons for 79€. Boy, did we get more than we bargained for! The room for 4 persons was 2 rooms separated by a living room and bathroom. The rooms each had a double bed and views of the front of the chateau. The room for 3 persons could easily have fit 5 people!

It had a double bed and living room and then it had another room that had a single bed and double bed. The bathrooms were remodeled and beautiful. We didn't opt for breakfast since we thought there would be bakeries nearby. Nope, we were wrong.
To say this place is old would be an understatement. The floors would creak with every step that you took. Gotta love the intimate feel of the hotel and, even though there were a few other people staying at the place, we felt like we owned the place. One night we grabbed food at a nearby supermarket - wine, cheese, meats, etc - and we ate out in front of the chateau. What a beautiful way to end the night! The night was cool but not cold and the moon was almost full with no clouds in sight. Our view was the expansive front drive and we talked late into the night.

The staff spoke limited English. Booking the place was an adventure in linguistics. I used their website to book my rooms, they responded in French, I used Google Translate to know what they were saying, I wrote back in English and they wrote back in French. Gotta love Google Translate!
I cant wait to come back! After all, this is the land of the thousand chateaus and we've only explored 4 of them... read more
