The benefits of credit unions over traditional for-profit banks are well documented, not the least of which is being able to keep more of your money. Recently, I moved over our three kids' savings accounts from a major bank after learning that they were earning a mere 0.1 percent (yes, that's one-tenth of 1 percent), which felt like they were actually stealing from children. Garden State Federal Credit Union had me fill out a paper form (I know, old school) and bring in our ID and proof of residency for each Kid's Club Savings account, which was a breeze. And best of all, they're earning a full 1 percent on their birthday cash. That's practically like winning the lottery! The other nice aspect of Garden Savings is that the tellers will get to know you by name since there are no passbooks or ATM cards to depersonalize the experience. Just tell them your name and deposit your bucks, easy-peasy! There's no reason to belong to a major multinational financial institution!

I was told this credit union helps people rebuild their credit, yet within months of obtaining my vehicle, I experienced repeated repossessions, excessive fees, lack of communication, and what I believe to be extremely poor handling of my account. The first repossession occurred over an alleged insurance issue despite my insurance being active from the day I drove the vehicle off the lot. I received no warning calls, letters, or meaningful communication before my vehicle was taken. I was then forced to pay substantial repossession-related fees immediately after Christmas in order to recover the vehicle, which caused severe financial hardship. After struggling to recover financially, losing stable housing, and attempting to rebuild my life, my vehicle was repossessed again based on claims that I was 90 days delinquent, which I dispute. Payments had been made, communication had taken place regarding hardship, and I was actively attempting to continue paying. What disturbed me most throughout this process was the lack of professionalism, refusal to provide meaningful assistance, and dismissive treatment when attempting to discuss options or request documentation. I am now facing the loss of transportation, employment difficulties, and ongoing financial instability as a result of this situation. Now they want 10,000 in 15 days, or i lose the car all together.I checked my credit report and nothing has been posted out of my savings account that LAUREN told me to make the payments and they would pull from that account, NICE my credit report says no payment for March i have that receipt, no payment for April I HAVE THAT RECIEPT !! I am beyond livid, my new well paying job is giving me till the end of the week, this is hardship that is uncalled for Consumers seeking to rebuild credit should be extremely cautious and fully understand the risks before financing through this institution...

WORST BANK IN WEST ORANGE and please being a west orange…read moreresident i would never recommend this bank to anyone. i opened two wells fargo account one for me and one for my wife in jan 2025. when i went to deposit some cash in both account. cashier Sabatina was very helpful doing every step of that depost process. Second cashier was sitting there little rude to Sabatina when she asked couple questions how to make certain deposit and change since Sabatina is new. when S cashier told me i need to bring my wife to make cash deposit and my wife came with me after 5 minute while she wasn't feeling well and try to deposit cash but realize she picked expired driving license, so S cashier told us about expired ID we went back home to get updated current driving license. now this whole time Sabatina was very nice in helping since my wife can barely stand due to some sickness and cashier next to Sabatina have no customer while sabatina was helping us. now when we came back third time with ID sabatina has customer so we went to cashier next to her, X cashier knew what i explained two time inregard to what we were trying to do and also told twice my wife is sick so she can barely stand up. Now this x cashier when i provided ID of my wife while my wife just sat down due to panic attack and sickness she said you need to bring your wife even though she she us walking in bank and saw my wife just sat down. next thing rather than greeting "she said what you want me to do exactly" and asked my wife can stand and fill. now as customer curtsey just like sabatina did she can fill information as customer curtsey and knowingly that my wife is sick and having panic attack she refused and even the bank manager took her side. i have never come across any bank who as customer curtsey will refuse to fill out that details. we been banking with td/citizen/chase for last 15 +years and thought may be we can give wells fargo chance but very bad attitude and bad experience. i hope Sabatina cashier will get promoted as manger and carlos should be head lead for this bank location. remaining crew was unprofessional and rude. i have canceled with wells fargo every account and will never go back to deal with them in future. being a west orange resident for last 7 years i would recommend other bank location rather than this location.

Well, the introductory message is long, "Hello, this is Wells Fargo calling. . ." YEAH, I KNOW THAT! JUST GIVE ME THE CODE! ". . . if you are expecting a code, press the pound key." REALLY, JUST GIVE ME THE CODE ALREADY! "Thank you. This is Wells Fargo and your code is . . . " Why not just start with "Your Wells Fargo code is #####" This is 2022, not 1822, the phone is old news and no one wants to be on it with their bank any longer than they need to.
