(Note: I currently only have a credit card with Purdue Federal. I am unable to comment/review on…read moreother banking services they offer.) Being a college student, I decided earlier this year that it was time to finally get a credit card. I wanted to build credit before I graduate. I have always banked/used a debit card through a large bank, but without much (if any) credit history, I wanted to find a reputable card I'd be approved for. Purdue Federal has a good reputation on campus, so after talking to some friends, I decided I'd give them a try. This location provided me with excellent customer service. Located conveniently in the Union, I stopped by after class, and talked with a representative. I try to do research online before signing up for any sort of service, but I'll be the first to admit I really didn't know much about the process of applying for a credit card. They walked me through every step of the way, and they were incredibly patient with me and answered all of my questions thoroughly. I was approved for the card, and finished setting up my account the next day. The employee that helped me setup my account was just as helpful and kind as the first. He made sure I had all the information I needed. My card arrived without issue about a week later. I appreciate how easy Purdue Federal makes things. Setting up Apple Pay was a breeze on the card, and their website is functional. It doesn't have many bells and whistles, but since I try not to make a ton of purchases with my card, that doesn't bother me. They offer an app as well, which I appreciate. It was easy for me to setup my external checking account with my bank to link in with PEFCU's site in order for me to pay off my balance. Overall, I can't complain about the service I've received with Purdue Federal. I like my card, and they offer easy services. They also make it easy for students to start and maintain accounts, which I highly appreciate.

This evidently has made ChexSystem label me as a narco-financier, money launderer, SOMETHING because I can't get an account in Indiana (I did at least get a personal savings acct with PFCU, a second time, now 2022 or 2023). So not that I am retired military (Left Department of Air Force for good in Dec 2025) I want to start a business via an LLC and consolidate all these accounts, hopefully with PFCU as it is where I started. Well, after calling me and collecting all of my personal info and info about my LLC they turn around and DENY me services on account I had "only been with them a few years" and "only had a credit card". The whole point of getting the card was to re-establish business and set up for consolidating with them when I retired. I want to buy land near there and have that under this LLC, but this happens. Talk about a major slap in the face to treat Purdue alumni (that want to do business back home) like this. Back in the early 90s online banking was not a thing and smart phones didn't exist, so of course I left for a local bank wherever I was stationed! Do these younger generations working at these credit unions not understand this? Good Lord. Boiler UP, PFCU down, as low as they can get.

I am a Purdue graduate student. Since opening this account, there have been many disappointments…read more I asked if they have a bill pay system. I was told they do, but they really don't. They have a many-step process to "request a check." That is not a bill pay service. I was told as a Purdue student, there would be special programs and discounts; I haven't seen one yet. Most every other credit union pays interest on deposits; Purdue FCU does not. I was told this would be an easy way to pay my Purdue tuition; there is no special program to pay tuition except through using the debit card. If you are just looking for a place to hold your money, Purdue FCU is fine. If you're looking for a credit union to develop a relationship with, I'd recommend to look elsewhere.

So my wife is the executor and we go to the Chase branch on SR 26 and US 52 in Lafayette on Friday afternoon. Teller tells my wife that account openings are by appointment only. So she asked if she could get an appointment for Saturday. Same person proceeds to tell her that Saturday is no appointments walk-in first come first serve. So waiting outside the bank before they opened this morning, open the doors at 9:10 due to an issue with ATM, no big deal, things happen. She gets inside, only 1 person in front of her and the gentleman is told that it is appointment only, but the person says, if the 9:00 scheduled is not her by 9:15 you can have that appointment. He ends up not needing to see this person, just a teller and so my wife asks if she can just take the slot...No, opening an account takes about an hour!!!!! Wow can customer service get any worse. So she left and went to our bank, First Merchants down 26 and had the account opened without an appointment before 10:00. Chase will never see any business from us ever! And by the way, this would be less than 1 star if given the option to enter zero!!!!
