I rarely need to go between mobile check deposit and taking cashback from various merchants rather than eating ATM fees, but when I have a bunch of cash to deposit or something, it's helpful that the ATM is only 15 minutes away. (I see other people claiming they refund other bank's ATM fees, I need to inquire about this because AFAIK it's not a part of my account...LAME) Since I've moved, I've entertained the thought of switching banks for my primary checking account - but then I end up having to call them for some sort of customer service issue, and am reminded why I like them so much. They're always helpful and there's rarely more than a 5 minute wait to get a hold of a human being that actually is in Connecticut rather than some far off call center. I strongly doubt Chase would be that good, and I know from experience Bank of America is absolutely atrocious. I really wish they'd support Android Pay with their debit cards, they used to and then stopped...meanwhile maintaining Apple Pay compatibility (and I was making NFC payments long before it was a twinkle in the corpse of Steve Jobs' eye) but they finally made some homebrew app - which is annoying since sometimes I want to use a different card in Android Pay, and it's annoying to force Android Pay to default over Webster Pay...but I appreciate the fact that they finally did something about this after hounding them for a solid year. Overall I enjoy how Webster has big bank features while maintaining small bank customer service skills, which is why I've been a customer for 12 years and counting after a brief break to big bad BofA waters (ugh.)

Unfortunately, Webster Bank requires in-person branch visits to close the account, which would require a 10-hour round-trip drive for me. I requested alternatives, such as a notarized closure request or, at a minimum, a temporary service-fee waiver, until I can visit within 30-60 days. The customer service manager was unable to provide any solution or fee protection. While security procedures are understandable, a complete refusal to offer reasonable alternatives for long-term customers creates unnecessary hardship. I am extremely disappointed in how difficult it has been to close an account after nearly two decades of banking with Webster. This keeps credibility while still communicating dissatisfaction.

During a recent storm, a neighbor's massive tree fell on my property, taking out several of my trees and two fences. My backyard looks like a war zone. State Farm has been unresponsive and 7+ days later, I'm still waiting for my claim to be reviewed. The office has been of no help. When I call, they do nothing but give me the phone number for claims and forward me to a voicemail box for a person who doesn't respond. Prior to switching to this office, I had worked with another State Farm agent who was wonderful. In the past, that office helped me file a claim after a similar storm, and handled the entire process, guiding me along the way. After that agent retired, I switched to this office but I have been incredibly disappointed with my experience. I'm a loyal customer and pay my bills on time.
