My GF is retired military and still writes the date as day, month then year. It's standard practice for military personnel and it's never been an issue until this Wells Fargo. They told him they couldn't cash the check for him because of the way the date is written. I called the branch and spoke to the manager. My call was just to ask the manager to inform the tellers that this is standard for military not to get in an argument. The manager had different plans and was very rude. After I explained what occurred she said what a minute, I'm trying to understand this. If it's your GF that was military why would you write the date that way? I said I didn't write the check at that point she started talking over me very rudely. I asked her why she was so hostile? She said she wasn't being hostile but her tellers know how the military writes dates and my GF must have wrote it wrong. I said no it was written correctly and one of your tellers wouldn't cash it. She came back with my tellers know what they're doing so it must have been the check. I could see this manager was unprofessional, not willing to listen to a very simple request I had to just let the tellers know about how the military writes dates. She was rude by talking over a customer and down to a customer and having a horrible attitude. As far as her nastiness to me she said she was trying to understand and asked why I'd written the date like that if I'm not military , I should have said you don't have to be military to use that format. I really wish I wasn't in a hurry because I had more to say after the manager was so rude to me. I've been a customer of this bank since it was First Union 20+ years. My parents closed their account yesterday and my sister closed hers today. They have had issues with their branches before (I can't speak for them as to what issues) and have been considering changing banks. This was the push I guess they needed. What a shame these bankers/ managers don't know how to speak to people and they seem to make their minds up as soon as someone starts speaking to them. Since Covid that now is their excuse, employees working from home, limited hours, etc etc. My debit card expired because they did Not send one out. I had to drive 30 minutes to a branch, had to have an appointment. No other customer in the bank, when I arrived. Three (3) employees, teller, customer service and one other in office. Call the 800 number for service, wait 10 minutes or more because of "heavier" than normal call volumes. Makes me laugh. the real problem, NOT enough employees to replace no local service. I am now searching for a local bank or cc.

I had to explain my situation 3 separate times, and I had to provide my life story 3 times for them to verify my identity. At the end of an hour, the last rep I spoke to informed me there was nothing they could do and I must go sit at the branch for 2 hours waiting for them to do nothing there either. So, two phone calls, two visits to the branch...nothing has been corrected. Years ago this bank used to be good. My grandmother banked here, so I started banking here. They're nothing but thieves, they will take all your money out of your bank account. Calling them? Forget about it, you'll be on the phone for an hour before talking to someone. Going in? You'll sit there for an hour waiting for someone to help you. They're lack of employees speaks volumes about how poor their ethics are.

I am a moderately successful professional. When I attempted to use my debit card to pay $7g for a…read moreroofer, I was shocked to be declined, as my checking and (linked) savings accounts are both with PNC and it is easy to see there are more than enough funds in either account to cover this. However, when I went into the bank and they refused to OK the debit transaction, then refused to give me the cash so I could bring the payment to the merchant, I was horrified. My account was in no danger of being overdrawn, but I had no way to pay the worker - PNC was holding my money hostage. They finally offered to do a cashiers check, which I did not wish to do, but had no other option. The bank manager - David Privitera - called the merchant to set up this payment method. I was then thoroughly mortified - and embarrassed - when he went into some explanation to the merchant that my debit card spending limit was not high enough for this simple purchase. From my end of the conversation, it sounded as though I didn't have the money. It was degrading and embarrassing.

It defaulted to 0% to the beneficiary despite me selecting 100%. The only way to fix it is to go into a branch. If you use the chat option the only thing they tell you to do is call or come in. I asked a few years ago if I could have my atm withdrawal max amount raised and the woman said "for what reason?" Umm, because its my Fing money. This bank operates like it's 1999 and they have not yet figured out hoew to maeuver the internet.

Home of the $30 Non Sufficient Funds Fees. I had six transactions go through over the weekend…read more Three deposits and three withdraws. Naturally, on Monday SCCU puts through the three withdraws.... overextends my account....charged me $90....Then puts through the deposits. This happened in spite of the fact that several of the deposits predated the withdraws. Happy accident for them I guess! This was not the first time they pulled this but it will be the last. I'm done with them. There are plenty of no fee bank options out there.
