I will return for my banking services based on this one trip. Thank you for making this event such a positive experience. This young lady is a keeper! One other comment. The branch manager checked in several times to make sure I was getting great service. It did not go unnoticed.

Hard to review a bank but I'll offer a few general assessments and thoughts…read more 1. They are not adapting well to new technology. As part of the high interest account I signed up for I was required to sign for online statements. The website button you had to click to sign up didn't work. When I called a branch they were pretty clueless. Issue was finally resolved but it took a long time. They don't embrace messaging via the website like so many other banks have. Instead they ask you to call or come in person. 2. Not customer oriented. I had an issue related to fraudulent transactions which they didn't accommodate my desire to do it via electronic means rather than the hassle of a trip. I was given the wrong form to complete and again staff didn't seem knowledgeable about the process. A lot of "I don't know the answer- I have to ask someone". Also when I signed up for my account at the branch process took much longer than other local banks I've signed up with. 3. Inconvenient branches. I live in Netcong (the heart of their home base) about 20 minutes to the closest branch. I only anticipated going to a branch once for signup so distance wasnt a big deal. But when you have to go into a branch (see above) and all their branches are in more rural areas (i.e. you can't hit them on the way to other errands) it's a pain in the neck. Again their mentality seems to be they want to remain a brick and mortar bank and only embrace online banking as much as they have to. They might play well with some older folks but not the younger generation of bank customers. If you're looking to get a high yield interest account ($10k limit) it might be worth it to to get an account. Anything else I would strongly advise looking elsewhere. By comparison another local bank, Provident, does things so much better. More frustration with this bank than all my other banks (BoA, Wells Fargo, Provident) combined.

I had an appointment this morning at the Newton, NJ branch to open 2 student accounts for my…read morechildren, both in High School. Upon my arrival, one of the female tellers said can I help you? I said I have an appointment with Robert at 10. She said "You do? When did you make the appointment?" This should have been my first indication that things were going to go badly, what kind of person asks when the appointment was made? Robert was standing right next to her. Despite being put off, I sat down with Robert and my children (both in High School) to open their accounts. I realized after a moment that I forgot to bring their Social Security numbers. I said let me run home and get it (I live 10-15 minutes away) he said when will you be back? I said I'm going to get them and come right back. He said I don't have any other time to help you today, it takes "one hour" to open accounts and I have other appointments". I'm actually sitting there with 2 kids and deposit money and he tells me I can't open accounts for them. This is Newton NJ not downtown Manhattan, I sincerely doubt that between the hours of 10am and 1pm on a Saturday there is no time to open new accounts. Probably one of the worst customer experiences I've had in my adult life, this is my children's FIRST TIME IN A BANK OPENING ACCOUNTS and we came out empty handed. Complete and total failure by this branch. I have a 20+ relationship with PNC that I am ready to sever entirely. No one I have told about this experience can believe they let new business walk out the door. I think that's the first thing they teach you NOT to do when you take a job involving money and investments. I will never set foot in the Newton branch again. Still debating whether or not I will try a different (and better trained) branch of PNC or move over to Wells Fargo.
