Robbing bastards. Avoid at all costs (no pun intended) Three visits made because they didn't fit the correct part. Charged the same rate for travel time as they do for engineers. Charged for time the engineer spent chatting after the job was finished in ten minutes - was then told this was my fault and I shouldn't have talked to him and instead told him to leave. Also told by the MD that all the one star reviews online are fake. When I pointed out ALL the online reviews were one star he said they had plenty of good reviews on their website. When I told him it would be very easy to put good reviews on your OWN website but why were there zero positive reviews on the rest of the internet he hung up. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! We checked reviews online before using this company and they all said that they were very clean and tidied up after themselves, which is why we used them to install a new boiler. Had I read the reviews on here, we would not have contacted them because they do overcharge and they certainly are NOT clean & tidy!! They initially serviced our boiler but the day after there was an oil leak but apparently that wasn't their fault?? Just a coincidence then? The smell of oil was so bad that we had to stay in a hotel for a night! When installing the new boiler they didn't cover the flooring properly & trapsed in and out with dirty boots covered in some orange coloured liquid. Next day we put down our own mats but they then got dirty and, even after washing them, are still not clean. They claimed they couldn't find the pipes going into the house so charged an extra £650 for a couple of hours of digging. They don't advise the customer, in advance, if there are extra charges & expect you just to pay. The new boiler had a pressure issue and a guy came to put in some sealer - that's an extra £120 for a 5min job!! They didn't re-connect the washing machine properly which caused a flood! When the owner came to discuss the issues his reply was "it's not the first time someone has complained about the mess and it won't be the last". Seriously? He was more interested in telling us about his forthcoming holiday to Florida and one of his employees told us he goes about 5 times a year so is this what customer's overcharging is paying for! This company is not professional and we hope, that by writing this review, no-one else will go through what we did. read more

WARNING - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY unless you want to be seriously out of pocket. They charge £95 per hour labour and add time to AND from your house from their business address to the labour charges and then some. Nearly £600 to change a washer which should have been addressed in their service less than a month before. You have been warned. read more

Very unprofessional company. Be careful ! If you have plans employing them, keep a close eye, supervise what they do and record at all times, more over inspect the works before paying the invoice. We had a gas boiler + radiators replaced recently, and a few days later received an invoice with just over the +1000£ agreed price for the allegedly extra works carried. When refused to pay it, supervisor who we met on site confirmed that the works carried is as per his initial pricing, but the owner still pursuing this spurious claim and asking us to pay extra. WARNING - Quote to repair a gas fire was, in my view, exorbitant - ignored my suggestions as to possible cause of fault despite providing image of handbook in support. Would have been cheaper to buy a new gas fire. Hidden call-out fee (also exorbitant). Bought a boiler from them six years ago and had it serviced every year. Each service had extra charges on it every year. The boiler was losing pressure so we called them out and the engineer tried a leak sealer saying it was coming from the pipes. he went to his van to get it but had none so he had to go and pick some up. we were charged £350 for a job that took only 20 minutes but we were charged for his time to fetch the leak sealer. The excuse was they don't store chemicals in the vans. well if that's the case then why did he go to the van to get it. Weeks later the boiler packed in. I contacted the manufacturer as it was under warranty only to learn two surprises. Firstly, Chas Stewart hadn't registered the warranty with the manufacturer and when the manufacturer came to fix the boiler they advised us it had been leaking for a while and that leak should have been picked up by the plumber ages ago. I had just paid £350 and demanded that be refunded. They refused, stating the leak was in the pipes underground. That was wrong, as confirmed to us by the manufacturer. It had been leaking so long that rust was present throughout boiler meaning it needed a full refit. Chas Stewart are a disgraceful example of customer service and will recommend to everyone to avoid them. I paid every account on receipt of invoice which always stated there would be a late payment fee of £150 if not paid within seven days. They are no better than bandits. read more

The job was a simple capping an old Gas pipe with a Cap - 15mm Solder Ring End, no access works required to access gas pipe. The plumber arrived without the appropriate fitting and left to get one from a local wholesaler, he was gone over an hour. When I received the invoice I was charged just under £200 for two hours work when the job only took a max of 30 minutes. Managing Director said I had to pay for the plumbers time to buy a copper 15mm Solder Ring End Cap and threatened to charge me a late fee if I did not pay. read more

Responded quickly but simple job not entirely satisfactory. They have offerred to return to refix but so expensive I don't really want them to call again. Parts prices inflated by 200 to 400 per cent over retail price available to me as a private individual plus ou rageously expensive labour rates. Avoid. read more

We hired this company to lay underfloor heating. Never again. Most of the plumbers time was spent sitting in their van reading and eating. I have never come across anything like it. Office employees just railroad and bully you til they get their own way. They don't listen, too busy multi tasking. They will however turn up at very short notice to do work, which is why they got the job. Also very expensive. read more
