My instructor was Mr. Luis, and he's very outgoing and understanding, and the way he teaches was very helpful to me. However, the school office isn't really helpful, though. For instance, when multiple other students and I needed help with situations, they took their time and we had to figure everything out last minute on our own or we received everything last minute. Halfway through the program, they switched our building, and they weren't even done with the renovation to the new one. They didn't respect the fact that we were in the building when they started renovation. You'd think if we were paying around 60k for a program, they'd have everything together and ready for the students. Halfway through the year, we were promised new scrubs, but we never received any, even though every other program got theirs and most of our scrubs were tearing up. Overall, the program was great, but the school definitely has its flaws that it can improve on.

They were very thorough with their assessments and always made sure we understood the material and felt prepared. I also made lifelong friends on this campus. I absolutely loved my Cohort 5! We supported and uplifted one another through our struggles and celebrated each other's accomplishments, especially after finishing each term. Overall, I'm very happy that I chose to attend this campus. I'm grateful for the education, support, friendships, and experiences that helped shape me into the nurse I am today. :)

Of course like any new school they are still trying to straighten out the kinks. Everyone complains about the price but frankly no education and career comes cheap. Plus they have financial aid so its not like they expect you to pay the full amount out of pocket. Also, Angie does NOT get paid for students to enroll, she is an instructor at the school and is probably the best one.

She rushed my Son to take an assessment test and DID NOT let him know the importance of the assessment, I asked her was there something he could study before and she said NO!!! And when he missed it by only 2 questions, THEN she mentions you have to wait 6 months before you can retake it!! That's a long time for an assessment test that was only supposed to be an evaluation!! I feel her intentions were to set him up to FAIL, nor would she show him his scores, which also makes me suspicious of her intentions! We will be taking further actions.

The staff mentioned it was very difficult and competitive. And maybe it is but it is not their job to discourage or feel anyone discriminated. Not sure if my age or I hate to even say that status also was part of it. A more professional way to handle it would have been just to say "talking to a counselor would give you a better understanding of what fits better for you". Unfortunately this is the second bad experience I have at AVC I can now see why people I know decide to go to COC or moopark

Let me start by saying the campus is very nice and clean! The admissions and financial aid staff,…read moreon the other hand, is pretty much useless. They are decently friendly, but it seems like no one at the desk is ever authorized to actually do anything aside from taking your info down and saying they'll reach out to you (no one ever reaches out, by the way, shocker). I've visited over 8-10 times in the last 5 months, and the "higher-ups" are always out of the office or in meetings--every single time. I applied in August 2025 and it took 2 weeks and 3 visits just for them to even find my application because it supposedly got "filed into spam." Most CCs take 48 hours MAX. Because of that "spam incident," my financial aid was severely delayed. Even though I'm a California native, they flagged me as a non-resident and said they needed my official high school transcripts to prove it. Contacting LAUSD for transcripts is a nightmare and takes 3-4 months, but the admissions supervisor gave me a verbal green light to take my Fall classes anyway. She promised they would backdate the waiver and clear the non-resident tuition once the transcripts arrived. I finally brought my transcripts in today, and now they're saying it's 50/50 if the dean will even honor that since the Fall semester is already over. To make it worse, the dean has been out for the last 2 days and they had no idea when she'd even be back. They refused to even schedule an in person appointment with her for me. I even offered to set it for this Friday or even weeks out and told them they could just call to cancel if she wasn't in, and they still said no. If someone is going to be out indefinitely, they need to bring in someone else to fill in and handle their responsibilities! I understand things and emergencies happen, but there is still business to be handled. Now they're saying they can guarantee Spring will be cleared, but I can't enroll in any classes until the $500 Fall balance is paid. What sense does that make?? Had I known this would happen, I never would've enrolled for Fall, but I trusted the supervisor's word. I'm beyond disappointed. The staff is friendly, but they need a new chain of command if the bosses are always gone. It shouldn't be this hard to better my future. I'm now pursuing enrollment at another college because I can't deal with this faulty system anymore. Advice to future students: save yourself the headache and explore other schools if you can. If you do happen to end up here DO NOT take verbal promises here. Get everything time-stamped and in writing or you'll end up stuck with a bill you weren't expecting.

And when I made the decision to leave (I paid for half the school upfront) I was told I would receive money back because I didn't finish. I received 3 emails with 3 separate amounts. I received 2 of the amounts the next day, that was in February. I have called numerous times to inquire about the 3rd check and every time I call, the person who can help me is always on a break or at lunch, so they take down my message and tell me someone will call me back. I've never received a call back. Due to taking care of a sick family member and working, I haven't been able to physically go in. But I also shouldn't have to physically go in for this inquiry. The school treats their students like they are children. They scold you about being professional in your externship when you're still months away from it and have given zero information on externship. Their whole "we're here to support you" spiel is crap. I attended the school for almost 5 months and within that timeframe, they fired 5 staff members and 2 quit or transferred. Save yourself the time and money and go to AVC.
