Wow! Very impressed with the red curry. I ordered through DoorDash this evening since I was having a craving. I went with shrimp and chicken. I was pleasantly surprised it arrived with white rice. The flavor is rich with a creamy and delightful broth. Plenty of bamboo shoots, basil and bell peppers, julienned & cut into bite size pieces. Very satisfying and a good portion. Never has there ever been a more perfectly named Thai restaurant than "Charm." A very understated, very romantic, tiny, super elegant restaurant with incredible "Charm." "Charm" is the product of the unexpected. When it's cool & rainy out hubby & I want Thai. Spicy Red Curry, seafood soups with flavors of coconut & lemongrass, crispy spring rolls, shrimp or crab fried rice made with fresh fried egg, mingled with unexpected hints of flavors like papaya, pineapple, spicy/sweet chili & pungent fish sauce. Yes, unexpected "Charm." Full Disclosure: Hubby & I used to live very close to "Charm Thai," and as the story goes, it turned out quite charming for us indeed. A little hidden romantic gem that we could easily escape to together. We fell in love with their charming style. It's our favorite Thai place in OKC. When we want Thai, we want to escape to "Charm." It's the only place I have ever found that serves red rice. They give you a choice between red or white jasmine rice. Their hottest spice level "Thai hot" is not as hot as I would like, but moi usually makes it more spicy at home. Still, their Thai HOT is pretty spicy. Moi fave dish is the Red Curry with the red rice. It's a perfect marriage. Absolutely perfection. Pink in color and as aesthetically appealing as it is delicious. "La Vie en rose" (the pink life) OuiOui. My "charming" super lovely sweet hubby used to get us take out from Charm Thai on his way home from work, when we lived in OKC. Hubby also LOVES the Beef Curry & moi, the Special Seafood Soup. The special seafood soup is absolutely amazeballs. A.Must.Order. When I think of all the sweet memories we have made on our life journey together, all the places we have lived, oh the places we have gone, the things we have achieved, the wonderful times hubby & I have shared together, all the romantic dinners, stories forbidden.. What remains is, what our hearts always fondly remember is that one place, that one special place that was our place, and in OKC, that one unexpected place was "Charm." Updating this review to 5 star, since I've been here dozens of times now. It's my favorite Thai place in the city. I've tried at least half the menu and everything is phenomenal. Charm is basically fancy Thai food. Most places lean into the "Takeout Thai" vibe, and while Charm would definitely be good for Takeout, the care they put into quality and presentation definitely far exceeds the standards of typical "Takeout Thai." So expect prices to be slightly higher. Their pad thai and pad prik king type of dishes are far superior to their competion. Both of these types of dishes are generally watered down and bland at at least half of other places. Charm has mastered the flavor profile. I complained about portion size in my last review from years ago, but the last couple times I went, the portions seemed more generous. The server can be curt, but that's kind of staple at many authentic Asian hole-in-the-walls, so is probably a net positive (lol). But those who are new to this type of restaurant may be put off. read more

The service was terrible and the food was not good. I ordered Pad See Eww which are wide and thick noodles. They brought out skinning spaghetti noodles. I asked about it and they said they don't have wide noodles. Well then, why call it something that's it's not. Also not once did they come to my table to ask if needed anything. Their pad thai was quite delicious. The tofu was fresh and crispy. However, the noodles were soggy, and for seasonings wise, they were heavy on the tamarind paste. The restaurant is well-decorated inside. They are still practicing preventive measures for COVID-19 such as having a plexiglass at the register. The staff told me that instead of placing a pickup order via Ubereats, I could've done that at their actual website to save me a couple of bucks. According to the information on the front of the menu, the owner is an executive chef who has passed the "Royal Exquisite Thai Culinary" in Thailand's in 2008. That's so cool. There food is very good. I loved the egg rolls. Yum! I ordered the Pad Kee Mao and it had good flavor but was definitely too hot for me. I tried my friend's Tom Kha soup with tofu and it was awesome. My second time here. We got the Steamed Dumplings, Crab Rangoon, Salmon Curry and Empress Pad Thai. All dishes were well prepared, nicely presented and pleasing to the palate. The Pad Thai was some of the best I've ever had (admittedly most times I've had it before, it wasn't that good. Tending to be bland). I really appreciated that the noodles were cooked Al Dente. First time I've had Salmon Curry and likewise was cooked perfectly. I've eaten tons of salmon in my life and am kind of particular about it. It's clear that the chef has some formal cooking skills. I see some comments on the prices. Seemed to me the food is a good value, but I'm biased as I'm from CA where everything is expensive (except for In-n-Out burger). I had written a four star Yelp review for Charm back in 2019, but last night's dinner upped my rating to a five with no worries. I'm not sure whether I like Charm better than Panang or not. Both places are good options for Thai because they both taste great and have friendly service. I think I like them basically equally (maybe giving the edge to Panang for value's sake) and would recommend stopping by whichever one is closest to you. While I enjoyed the overall flavors of Charms' food, I was disappointed by the portion sizes and meat-to-vegetable ratios of their lunch menu. The Cashew Chicken on my lunch plate was almost exclusively made up of onions and bell peppers, with maybe 3-4 slices of chicken thrown in to remind me I had ordered a meat entree. Unlike Charm, Panang is great about making sure you have food for at least two days with the obscene quantities they throw on your plate. In Charms' defense, though, Panang's bulk strategy for lunch also means their flavors tend to be a bit watered down. This has always been my go to Thai food restaurant. Have always been very pleased with the food and service. And it's just a block away from home and work. Today, I was quite disappointed. I order the lunch combo through DoorDash. It came with panang curry, 2 fried dumpling, and then you got to choose from another entree. I chose chicken pad Thai. I told them no egg because I'm allergic. I got a note that said that if I wanted no egg in my pad Thai, I would've had to order the full order instead of the lunch combo. Mind you, I am allergic, so I couldn't even eat what I ordered. I will be back because the food is always good, but I'm very disappointed in the laziness and unwillingness to make sure their customers are happy regardless of what they order. read more

I don't know what happened, but Charm has left me feeling the opposite of charmed. What is the word for that? Disenchanted, I guess? I wish I had pictures (the ones attached are from another Friday lunch special). But anyway, two pieces (actually two!) of chicken and a boat load of onions in the Basil Chicken is not acceptable, even if it's the lunch special. Also the chicken in the curry was like... if you were forced to eat the pink eraser on the end of your pencil. If you look through some of the pictures, you notice that it seems to be a common trend. I noticed it last time too, but didn't feel like complaining at the time. Well here I am complaining now. Service is still fine, and the quantity of the foodstuffs is reasonable(ish) in terms of having you feeling satiated if not satisfied. But when you're spending $8-9, you hope that it's more than just a decent-sized mound of rice, parsimonious chicken portions, and/or chicken dishes that taste like erasers. Also, they will tell you that 4 is spicy, and discourage you from going all the way to 5, but 4 is not spicy. At all. Sometimes, they won't even check with you on the spice level and then you're left with... bland eraser meat. Maybe their regular menu is good, but the latest lunch special experience doesn't have me rushing to give it another shot any time soon. I see the words "Best Thai" in a number of the reviews... I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! While sitting at work, I was sent a text from a friend who had curry and vegetables for lunch. So I looked up Thai places close to work. Charm Thai popped up with great reviews. Julie S had even reviewed it! I was so excited to try something close and new, so off we went! The restaurant is small and intimate. There are only a dozen or so tables. They have a daily special which is what we enjoyed. We went on a Wednesday and are excited to try out other days as well. The lady was very nice. This is a small, family run restaurant. The chef has formal training and it shows. The food is fragrant and delicious. They will adjust the spice to your taste. So whether you prefer yellow curry without spice or a very spicy panang curry, you will not be disappointed. It is a small restaurant with that seats @ 20, give or take. Quite possibly the best thai food in Oklahoma; they compete with one other place in Edmond. Quality makes up this entire restaurant. I think they make their own curry paste, but I didn't ask to confirm. It is so amazing. They offer red rice, and to my knowledge they are the only thai place that offers something other than white rice. In my two visits I have had the green curry w/shrimp, thai coffee, and crispy garlic shrimp; I think the crispy garlic shrimp has a different name though. The dang crispy garlic is so good. Charm is my go to place when I don't feel like making the drive across town to Thai Sayarm. The prices are definitely good for what you get in my opinion. I love love love their Red Curry. Probably one of the only places I've been that their 5 star rating on the heat scale actually packs a punch. You definitely want to keep a drink nearby because you'll be feeling it. Not so spicy that it's unbearable but enough to know you're in for a wild ride. Red Curry - 5/5 Probably my favorite red curry in the area. So delicious and a great amount of spice. Pad Prik Khing - 5/5 The chili paste is DELICIOUS! I love this stuff! The green beans are amazing and very snappy. i don't even like green beans that much and I devour these. Rama - 5/5 Probably my favorite dish outside of the red curry. Maybe a little similar to the Pad Prik Khing but has just that slight edge that makes me prefer it. Charm is delightfully charming! This family-owned/run restaurant is located in a strip mall in a semi-sketchy part of town, the interior is tiny (approx. 5 tables with 4 chairs a piece), but the food is quite delicious! Tons o' vegetarian selection, though they didn't have vegetarian dumplings :( I started with the fried spring rolls, while the Hubby tried the chicken and vegetable dumplings - both used a thinner wrapping (total plus for us) and both can be reported as quite tasty! Hubby chose the beef fried rice for his main course, while I tried a dish of fried noodles with veggies in a sweet soy sauce (name was pad "ee..." something or other). Both entrees were really good. I would generally use a description better than "really good", but in this case it fits best. I don't want to give the impression that the food here is out of this world fantastic, but it's REALLY good! I also want to give a shout out to this restaurant for actually having decent portion sizes - not pretentiously small / not glutinously big - just perfect. I do want to note that when we dined on Fri evening, there were approx. 11 other patrons - There was only one woman running the front of the house, so service for drinks was quite slow; additionally, I think there was only person doing the cooking in the back of the house - dishes came out in order, rather than at the same time. This didn't bother me (it's actually refreshing to slow down and enjoy the dining experience), but for those in a hurry, or dining in a large group - here's your warning. I was flip-flopping between 4 and 5 stars, but 5 won out because of how close Charm is to where I live (2 miles). The building is small and part of a small strip, sitting inconspicuously at the the end of it. But inside it is gorgeous. The interior is subtle and sleek with black chairs and booths and the walls are dark with bronzey fixtures and lovely large art work. The music isn't... bad. Not particularly MY tastes, but it was quiet enough that it wasn't very noticeable. I'd describe as the Top 40 for mid-2000s to now? Haaah. The service is friendly and not pushy, though borders on the side of vacant. By that I mean that while I didn't see the employees as much as I'd like, they managed to show up at just the right times before I got all pouty about my water. What I really liked was that while waiting for my food, I could hear them chopping and cooking away in the kitchen. The food was well worth the wait for how fresh it is. The menu is expansive, but not daunting. There were plenty of things I wanted to try, but before I even got there I was set on tom kah kai and massaman curry. Both of which were incredibly delicious. We ordered Ubereats from Charm tonight. As Thais, we understand how difficult it might be to make Thai food taste authentic in America, but this food was beyond bad. It was extremely salty, and they did not use fresh thick noodles that are commonly used in Pad See Ew instead they used thin stick noodles more commonly found in Pad Thai. I would recommend going elsewhere for Thai food. read more
