The team there is fantastic - friendly and genuinely kind people who care about the kids in their school. Food is included, but it's "kid food" - lots of chicken nuggets and fish sticks - so if you're looking for something organic or fancy you might want to provide your own food instead. That said, they were very accommodating of my kids' dietary restrictions and never made us worry that our kids would be fed something they couldn't eat (something I can't say for every child care facility we've encountered in LKN). The playgrounds are a little old - mulch-filled and older style equipment, chain link fences, etc. Compared to some newer facilities, the playgrounds could use some love, but my kids were happy so I didn't mind. Water play day on Wednesdays in the summer! Ice cream truck visits every other Tuesday in the summer! Older kids might even go for a walking field trip to Bruster's - the highlight of their week. Communication with the front office and with your kid's teacher is more challenging now because of COVID. I found I was still able to reach people if I needed to, and they answered all of my questions to my satisfaction. A weekly newsletter or email from teachers to parents might be a good idea - sometimes we felt surprised by planned events and daily/weekly themes. I love the layout of the building inside - the older kids' classroom in the middle feels very much like a Montessori environment to me. Overall would highly recommend!

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the directors and staff! I wish we had started her prior to her being 1. We had a horrible experience before and I was so nervous at first. But the teachers and directors were very responsive. After my daughter was there, we had a second one and due to covid I was able to juggle him and work. He started there at the age of one as well and has learned and grown so much! He is now 3 and my daughter 6, will be there this summer. We absolutely love this daycare!!!! Thank you teachers and directors for doing an absolutely hands down amazing job! Side note: even with the teacher change overs they have been very commutative and understanding my needs and concerns. Changes were made! They listen to you and work with the needs of your child!!!!

I love that her office is right when you walk in and can get to know her at drop off and pick up. Everyone knows my son's name. We love that the app is updated with pictures, what he ate and how much, and pictures. They are very well rounded with a great curriculum and routine. Highly recommend.

If you need reliable childcare and work for an employer that requires regular, on-site attendance,…read moreI highly suggest looking at other options. Constant phone calls, unexpected early closures, sicknesses, excessive holiday teacher workdays, etc. I believe they send kids home for minor "illnesses" to stay in ratio sometimes. We paid over $17xx a month, and it is not worth the stress. Things have soured with my employer due to all of the missed days. My son recently had to get stitches due to a head injury here, which was the final straw. I still dont understand what happened. Just keep looking.

I love the fact that A Place to Grow incorporates crafts for the 2s and unders as well! I love a cute craft even if it's just scribbles. One of the biggest pluses is that they do not force my child to nap. They provide the opportunity and calm time and if my child decides not to nap there is a separate play area with other children. They are also super affordable! All good things said, if you are looking for a daycare facility that sends constant updates via an app and provides you a video feed - this place is not for you. Personally, I don't want those things and I'm paying less than other facilities that provide these features.

You always get greeted at the door as you come in, all of the teachers acknowledge the kids even if they are in a different class. The teachers are in good moods all day, the kids are always busy, and the tricycle rally was so fun for my little ones. The facility is clean, tucked back, not next to apartments which always weirds me out a bit. Wish they offered meals and wish there was a covered drop off area where you can get the kids out when it is raining. We were given an ultimatum for our child to leave back in August of 23 beginning of school year,…read moreafter 1.5 years there. Supposedly the rude secretary in the front said my wife used a tone (when she would use one with us), and then the same lady tried to get involved in an email with our child and was spreading rumors, etc. I get a call from the Principal on a Monday at 1206pm saying our child leaves today and sign a paper or he is expelled forever. Also our kid had straight As for 22 -23. We had no warning, no nothing. The Principal even went to our Church. Just embarrassing, and they clearly broke their contract as we had NO idea there was an issue. I was just told he didn't think we could move forward and he wouldn't let us sit down or talk or anything. We are not the type of parents to over react, and Boyd runs this thing as a regime. It's really sad. I should have heeded the warnings and known it would be disastrous. He even sent an email put to everyone in 2022 saying his 4th grade son made the 5th grade and up team. This was ridiculous. Clearly it should never have happened from a rules and physical standpoint. When our kid started in Feb of 22' I should have known, as our son is adopted and they made him take more incoming tests than the average student to make sure he could handle the work load. The problem is, now our kid is in Fort Mill schools and it's so much tougher. He is doing well, but Walnut Grove has had a long history of not getting getting children prepared. Ask them what their teacher and student turnover is too..it's astronomical. Just a very very poor experience. Plus, they refuse to refund our thousands saying I signed a form when our kid left and released him, I didn't. Thankfully we are getting advice on how to proceed. Just a horrible experience and unfortunately a school that I would have a very hard time as deeming Christian. The kids who go there are usually the outcasts of a public system. We wanted a Christian education. So so sad it went the way it did. We even sought Christian advice at the church we both went to, and the Pastor there very much said that the Boyd's run it as a regime and they should absolutely refund us and we handled it well. It's just really sad. I could be so much more negative but I'll hold back.

This new take on Gymboree is excellent, especially due to their wonderful, caring, involved, sincere and attentive staff of Candice and Trey at the Blankney location. Where Gymboree is very formula during their hour sessions, My Gym is some formula mixed with open time whereby parents can enjoy their children using lots of clime-ons, slides, swings, ball pit, hanging bar, and all variety of climb up, on and through set-ups. Most importantly, Gymboree seems to be more focused on toddlers and a younger crowd. My Gym is more the 2 - 4 year crowd. If you are looking at these places, you are welcome to a trial session with your child. Please take advantage of this opportunity because staff makes the difference. Look for the best "fit" for your child. Thanks Trey and Candice. You are both very nice people who "give yourselves" to the children.
