Charming little shop with lots of rare treasures. A great place to find well cared for books and objects. Always a delight to visit.

My partner and I have been venturing into Hampden recently. Charlotte Elliott was one of our finds yesterday. It's a great little vintage shop. I was pulled in by the bookstore next door. We spent about an hour in there. There's two levels, where books are well presented and deals featured. You walk through the shelves, and you'll see the different genres featured and bins with sale items clearly marked. The upper floor has poetry, photography, gardening, and cookbooks. The street floor has fiction, science books, and women's literature. These are just the genres that I remember. The other side of the store has antiques and other well curated items for sale. You can tell that the owners take a lot of pride in the presentation of their store. I loved it! I recommend anyone in the area to stop by and check it out. read more

Worth stopping in while strolling through Hampden! I'm kind of obsessed with used book stores, so I was star-struck by all of the selection here as well as the opportunity to browse some other antique baubles. I think my only gripe was that I was a little overwhelmed and perhaps confused about where things were; while looking for art books, it felt like there were art books kinda all over the place, but I eventually found most of them at the very back of the store. To be fair, I am a scatter brain and need big signs, but other than that they certainly have a lot of goodies! Didn't buy anything on my first excursion, but I could see myself coming back when I'm in town. read more

Charlotte Elliott - Antiques Near Me - Baltimore, Maryland

Pretty sad store. (Only reviewing the bookstore) Was hoping to find some good, basic, used ,inexpensive titles in a few subjects. Was amazed at the prices for basically remaindered books. $20-$25 for recent Clive Cussler, Terry Brooks, Dan Brown books...Really. get them at Barnes & Noble for $6. I spent some time here, I collect a wide range of books, so have my go to's for pricing comparisons....Found nothing reasonably priced. The few titles I may have grabbed for under $10 were $25 or more. The one book I wanted to read was $45... falling apart, and waterstained throughout. Not sure if they just don't give a damn, are clueless, or think just because a book is old it has to worth more the $20. Too bad, I love books and browsing for hours in bookstores. Will not waste going back....Even at half off they would be overpriced. read more

One of the best stores in Hampden and definitely my favorite for treasure hunting! Antiques and interesting items from all over the world combined with the attached "Bookstore Next Door" with an amazing collection of titles! Aside from the wonderful inventory, the staff is exceptionally knowledgable, helpful, and friendly - even the cute Pug dog! Well, he's not terribly knowledgable, but he's friendly!! I would definitely recommend them for decor, conversation starters, and unique gifts. read more

This shop is a great destination if you're looking for something specific from a certain era, and it's also one of the best places to kill an hour of your time on 36th St. I can't believe how much stuff they have in there - the place is definitely Bigger On The Inside. They have four levels of art and antiques, and they have everything, you name it - old books, world art (some of it pretty ancient), chess sets, china and silverware, jewelry, musical instruments, and amazing period clothing. (The old furs are crazy.) Browsing through this shop is like walking through a museum, except that stuff is all over the place and you're allowed to poke at it. It's like visiting my grandparent's house when I was a kid, times a thousand. The staff are great. It's a family business - husband, wife, and daughter, I think? The daughter is an expert on old clothing and costuming. I went shopping there for a "Great Ratsby" 1920's Baltimore themed party, and she told me exactly what I needed and showed me where everything was. The old man is well-educated, well-read, and very cool, and he will talk to you about everything for as long as you want. Definitely one of my favorite places in Hampden. I always make sure to stop in here when I have out-of-town visitors, and my visitors are never disappointed. read more

Antique stores are a dime a dozen on the the Avenue, the main artery of this eccentric little neighborhood. How do you separate the good from the blah? It's really hard to tell from the outside since most shops have attractive displays that look similar to one another, but you'll know you're in for something special once you step past the Charlotte Elliott's threshold. Immediately upon entering, you are greeted by the super friendly and sweet owners, who named the business after their son and daughter. They are so willing to help, without being overly attentive (not the shopkeepers who follow you around everywhere as if you're about to lift something). They seem genuinely interested in helping you find what you're looking for (or looking for without knowing you're looking for). While the store contains everything under the sun, it seems--antique furniture spanning many eras, vintage CDs, sterling silver flatware, home decor--I was there for the jewelry. I was on a quest to find an interesting statement necklace to brighten my monochromatic and humdrum work attire. Charlotte Elliott's jewelry for sale is either displayed under a glass case (the pricier stuff) or hung on different organizers in that vicinity. As I perused their merchandise, I heard the proprietors talking to one another, rattling off different pieces made from popular materials such as cloisonné. They clearly know their stuff, which I guess one would hope they do since they're in this business. Sadly, not everyone who sells antiques really knows what they're selling...Anyway, after telling the missus what I wanted, she showed me a few pieces. They were lovely, but not within my budget, so I told her, and guess what! She showed me a beautiful pearl necklace that was marked higher than i was willing to spend and said she'd reduce the price for me. So hey, you can get a good deal! I was thrilled. Not promising that the owner(s) will strike a similar deal for you, but the point of this story is that the owners are willing to work with your budget. If you tell them, I'm only willing to spend X amount, they'll try to find something that falls under that limit. They also have a sister used bookstore next door. Definitely check that out, too, if you have the time. read more

A pretty decent vintage store on the Ave, one of the more well-stocked and with friendly staff. They have a little bit of everything: jewelry, vintage fur coats and muffs, a whole section of vintage lace and satin gloves, some furniture, knickknacks, cookware, and chinaware. It's so much fun to rummage through here, and we love looking at the kooky vintage hats! We came in jut to kill some time, and walked out with a great vintage gold phone that's found a home as a book end. Staff are great and worked with us on the price, which is much appreciated! Will definitely keep popping in! read more

This place is like a black hole... but a good one. A black hole full of wonderful, interesting things that just keeps going on and on! There are separate sections throughout this place: clothes, books, housewares, etc but also pretty much anything under the sun. Like Beanie Babies, the Hard Rock Cafe one from LA. That's irrelevant but you get the point! Next time I have some extra cash, I'd love to come back and seriously search for a treasure because some of that stuff doesn't come cheap! read more

I recently visited Baltimore and found this amazing shop while exploring Hampden. What a fabulous place! A huge variety of really quality merchandise. They had everything from furniture to crystal to vintage clothing and beyond. And the owner was so welcoming and helpful! This will definitely be my first stop on my next trip back. read more

This is the ideal antique store. Charlotte Elliott houses everything from books,furniture, collectible nick knacks, GORGEOUS china, and my Favorite part are the clothes. They vintage clothes cover various decades from victorian gowns to 1980's couture. I've easily spend 3 hours at a time whenever i pop in. There is an extensive collection of vintage hats, purses, and gowns...If you ever need anything for a special event Charlotte Elliott is the place to go. read more
