The word that comes to mind after watching those recitals and knowing what my daughters are doing at Route 42 is gratitude. I am so very grateful that my daughters have had the opportunity to dance at Route 42. Miss Nancy has raised the bar since taking over while still maintaining a fun and caring environment. I never really compared their instruction to others', but now see how much further along they are in learning proper technique and dance movement. As my oldest daughter and I were watching another studio's recital last night I was thinking to myself how grateful I was to have my daughters taught by Miss Nancy, Miss Magons, and Miss Katherine. Lizabeth, the manager, got back to us with a quote within a few days via email and got us on the schedule quickly. Kristen was our instructor and she was awesome! She was super nice and personable and definitely made it easy for us as beginners with no rhythm. Lol We pretty much told her that neither of us dance and we wanted to learn some basics so we don't look like complete idiots on our wedding day! We started our first lesson with hand and arm positions and the basic box steps (5, 6, 7, 8...*quick, quick, slow*) and we built upon that with side steps, turning, "the cuddle" move and some other moves in the following 3 sessions. She watched each of us closely and told us what we were doing wrong or right and took turns with each of us til we got the feel for it. Each session was roughly 45 minutes long and she wrote down notes of what we covered after each session so that we all knew where we left off during the next visit. During our last session, Kristen had us try all of the moves we learned to go along with the beat of the music and it was tough! We sure had a lot of fun though! Thank you, Kristen! On our wedding day, we dance pretty well and noone fell, so that's a win in my book! Starting out I was confused with the flow of things but overtime I learned the ropes. My main gripe with ATB is that they're very much competition orientated. I really just want my girls to enjoy dance and gymnastics recreationally. I also do not want my young girls dressing in the dance recital outfits and wearing the unnecessary make up. Miss Mo and Miss Rachel have been great instructors who provide a positive and fun learning environment.
