My son chose to have refractive surgery to correct his extreme nearsightedness (replacing his lenses with a man-made lense). I wasn't thrilled, as this is a one-time only surgery and cannot be tweaked later. He still has some astigmatism that could be corrected with glasses. Night vision blurriness (common with contact lense wearers, as the pupil expands farther than the contact area). He said he would still make the same choice, given the confidence with his new vision. I again was allowed to watch through the windows and close up video on tv screens. Growing up, my whole family had 20/15 vision, while I needed glasses in first grade. I can still recall the sensation of being able to see the individual leaves on the trees after getting new glasses. I'm considering getting the same surgery as my son.

He tells us it needed to come out, gave us all the instructions, scheduled the surgery ans was there when we checked in. He spoke to both of us, even though she's an adult. He was kind and had an amazing bed side manner. 2 weeks later, at her check up, he was just as personable as the firet time we met. He explained everything ans my favorite part was as we left, he said,"You're doing great. Now, you two, get out!" He laughed ans I said," No offense but I hope we never see you again." And he said ," Funmy. I get that a lot!". He was funny ans you can tell he loves helping people get well! He literally said her gall bladder was offensive and had to die and is in a landfill somewhere. Fun while being serious. Great doctor. Great staff. Very caring. She had was in the best hands. I had my eyes examined a year ago in Chicago and that eye doctor was still using the puff of air test for glaucoma testing. This optometrist uses a much less irritating device. I felt as if they really took their time with me. I'm normally paranoid that I may have inadvertently spoiled my eye exam by selecting the wrong lens during the "Which is more clear," portion of the test. But here, I felt like the rest was thorough and exhaustive. I'm glad I came here and recommended the place to others.

Dr. Hutchins was not my first choice, but Dr. Brown, whom I had chosen was not available to VA patients. The VA assigned me to Dr. Hutchins and what a BLESSING!!! She is the sweetest soul! Her knowledge, her bedside manner, and she as a person are the epitome of Medical Doctor. I am certainly blessed to have had her available to me as a VA patient, and I am blessed that she truly, genuinely cares about each patient. Does she have long waits in office? Yes, but she takes her time and ensures each individuals needs and concerns are met with a well educated, as well as experienced answers! She is definitely worth the wait! I recently visited My ER with my 3-year-old son while out of town visiting family after he sustained a fracture to his arm while playing. Unfortunately, this was the worst healthcare experience I've ever encountered. To provide context, I've been in healthcare for 11 years, with 8 years as a NICU and pediatric nurse, and I now hold a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) degree. I understand the challenges of healthcare, especially in pediatrics, but the care we received fell far below acceptable standards. The visit started on a positive note. The medical assistant was kind, compassionate, and understanding, clearly experienced with children as he shared that he had three boys of his own. The x-ray technician was also kind and professional. However, the FNP who attended to my son did not perform an adequate assessment. She asked me to move my son's arm for her rather than conducting the exam herself. As a fellow FNP, I found this surprising--assessments are fundamental to providing care. The most traumatic part of the visit came when a nurse from the ER side arrived to apply a splint. She entered the room without introducing herself or explaining the procedure to me or my son. Instead of taking a moment to calm my scared and hurting child, she abruptly grabbed his arm. Naturally, my 3-year-old started screaming and resisting. As a former pediatric nurse, I know how important it is to communicate with children, explain what's happening, and even let them explore the materials to ease their fears. When my son resisted, she started yelling at him to stop moving and hold still. I intervened, reminding her that he was only 3 years old, hurt, and frightened. She then turned her yelling toward me, rudely telling me that he was "old enough to listen" multiple times. It was a deeply upsetting and traumatic situation for my son and me, and it escalated unnecessarily due to her behavior. To make matters worse, as we left the clinic, visibly shaken, the front desk staff showed no empathy or apology. Instead, when I confronted them about rolling their eyes and shaking their heads, they rudely responded, "How do you know what I'm shaking my head about?" This lack of professionalism and basic courtesy was appalling. It's clear this facility needs significant pediatric training if they intend to care for children. Medical staff must learn to communicate with both parents and children in a compassionate and professional manner. As of 12/3/2024, I strongly advise against bringing pediatric patients to My ER. If you are burned out in healthcare--whether as a nurse, receptionist, or office manager--it's time to find another path. Families seeking care deserve much better than what we experienced.

She has resubmitted the claims as well as assuring us the staff would be better trained to explain the insurance process when a patient first comes in. Hopefully that will avoid future problems for others. I appreciate her kindness and help. This facility has separate insurance acceptance 495590 for urgent care or emergency care which I've never heard of. When I asked about this they assured me it's an old policy and they accept all insurance. They told my daughter the same thing. Her insurance just denied the claim for being out of network and the bill is 5k for a steroid shot and some prescriptions. She actually went in asking for urgent care, they decided to move her to ER "just in case" (?). The woman in billing will not call, and all you can do is leave a voicemail.
