Conveniently located by Shrewsbury's retail parks, with free customer parking, there doesn't appear to be anything that this store does not sell? Camping, clothing, cooking, gardening, furniture, homeware, sports goods, they have it all, at very reasonable prices too! The staff are extremely friendly and very professional. I needed a drive belt for my lawn mower and after being fobbed off and messed around by many internet companies, a quick chat to Charlies staff and they had the correct belt ordered and delivered to the store within 4 working days - far quicker and massively cheaper than anyone else could do it for. Unfortunately there are not many Charlies stores about (generally located in Mid Wales and the West of the West Midlands). However, do not fear as they now have an excellent web site found at: http://www.charliesdirect.co.uk/ Their garden equipment section is especially well presented with a variety of equipment from cheaper brands (such as Bosch), to more specialised brands (such as Stihl), all at quite reasonable prices. Hidden on an industrial estate in Shrewsbury, Charlies Store is a bit o f an alladins cave. It sells cards, gifts, cookware, camping and outdoor gear, tools, household equipment, equestrian products, shoes, clothing (including outdoor wear), and probably much more. Despite the type of shop things are well laid out, and the shop is kept pretty tidy. A lot of their products are budget brands - so figure that in, and not everything is cheaper than you would find it elsewhere, but its great to kill an hour or two, and you are sure to come away with something you didn't know you needed. read more

Terrible service, communication and quality of product. Where to start? Well, I purchased a pair of casual slip on style shoes from Charles Direct on May 15th 2016 only to find one shoe was bigger than the other in width once I got them home. Completely gutted, I returned the shoes to the store on the 18th to be told by a member of staff in the outdoor wear section "well one foot is always bigger than the other" the size difference was huge to the point that when I walked one shoe was slipping off; to be questioned about my foot size is beyond me. Remaining keen, I asked about the exchange wait, 2 days I was told so I held on patiently for a week before I had to contact the store myself... I was told the shoes hadn't arrived and so they'd call me when they do. ANOTHER 5 days pass, no call, so I once again contacted the store to be palmed off with the idea 'bank holiday' had interfered with the delivery of the shoes... The process of the '2 day' deliverance of the shoes had all been arranged within good time of a week and a half before the bank holiday... Another 4 days pass... I made a final phone call to the store on Sunday 5th June 2016; the only member of staff who seemed to give a good level of customer service this time discovered that the shoes I had ordered 2 weeks ago had been lost.... "But if the shoes do turn up, would you like us to contact you?" There are no words. My experience with Charlie's direct within this particular area has deflated tremendously. read more

This store cannot be bettered. I can't get there as often as I would like, but when I do it's like being a child in a sweetie shop.
