Go to craigslist car listing by owner and dealer http://maine.craigslist.org/cta/ Narrow down make, price, and year. Our first pick: put Less than $3000, then looked for newer than year 2000 and less than 140,000 miles... Second pick: just typed Prius, and compared year, miles, and price Tip 2: Ask around and keep your eye on the used car dealer on the way to the target dealer or private owner for the test drive. We were recommended "Craft Auto" on 196 and saw cheap cars less than $3000 at "The shop" on 196 (Lisbon) Tip3: Google certified dealers and call them to find out if they sell the car (color, model, package, year) you want and price. Tip4: Find out price and availability of the car in Hawaii through craigslist and calling dealer in Hawaii. This help you to pick what kind of car you want ( considering price depreciation, premiums) I personally also checked price in Japan with Carsensor considering many scenarios. Checking price in Hawaii helped me to get more discount, when dealer was trying to give me only $4000 discount. "It is exact same price with ones in Hawaii!! I can not buy anything which is not cheaper than ones in Hawaii. New car depreciate $8000 immediately after we purchase. How can we resell the car??" Like that ....Having more information help you to get the best deal. Tip5: Price negotiation Always have the price from Kellybluebook, consumer guide. Never buy over priced. Dig more info. with Carfax and cost of owning price. Google any discount, coupons, you can find before you buy (Ex. $750 USAA member discount) Important advice from Captain: Make sure if under the car is not rusted (Typical for the car 5 year or older ) and make sure to get " under coated to prevent the rust from snow and salt". As for registration in Hawaii, while you are in Maine, will be added later.

Bought my truck with just over 80,000, (just voiding their extended warranty that goes until…read more80,000), for around $26,000 listed price. (Under 100 miles over 80,000) Timing chain went on truck within 2 months. IWE system started being noisey within a month and half. Still isn't right after the dealer has looked at it 3 times. And when I called and asked if they could just hook me up with a mechanic that could get in sooner than the dealer, (I literally stated I don't expect them to do a thing for me as I'm outside their warranty), I got "what do you expect us to do for you". Did end up calling his mechanic who basically told me their first apt availability was a month out. I would say "Buy with confidence" anywhere else and I truly hope this helps someone in the future when looking at their motto.

Ive bought 3 vehicles from these guys and thought for sure I'd be a lifelong client, the owner…read moreseems to be a great guy, the salesman Dan seems to be a great guy, but I'm at a loss here. The vehicle I bought is a 2018 Audi SQ5 for over $40,000 it was my dream vehicle and the owner actually got involved in helping me get in the vehicle. Super props to him. Shortly after I got it home I noticed a pulsing vibration through the floorboards while going straight and more aggressively when I turn right. Nothing happens when turning left. I thought it was nothing, maybe needed the tires balanced, so I had that done with no effect to the vibration. I notified Lake City of my problem then, maybe 1 at the most two weeks into my ownership of the vehicle. I brought it to multiple garages including an Audi dealership for diagnosis. Everyone kept saying wheel bearing (which would be odd having a wheel bearing go at such low milage 64k) so I wound up having the rear left replaced twice and the front right replaced once. I also had the tires replaced and a rear axel replaced. Lake City assisted with I think two of the 3 bearing replacements. None of these repairs had any effect on the condition of the vehicle. Eventually expert staff at the Audi dealership got involved and gave me a correct diagnosis, the issue is the transmission in the front differential area. I spoke to a transmission specialist, described the symptoms and he seconded the diagnosis, transmission specifically the front differential bearing. Now I'm putting a transmission in it for $4700 not even a year into owning it. Pretty awesome. This is 2 out of 3 cars that have had costly major issues within the first year of owning.

Had Dale Green or one of his mechanics change the oil in my car, and when I brought it home, I…read moreheard a loud rattling noise from the top of the engine, which wasn't there when I brought the car to him that morning. After taking it back to him 3 times and being charged for his labor and parts each time, he said the noise was caused by a bad camshaft and weak lifters, which he estimated would cost $2000 to fix. So, I took my car to another mechanic who removed the valve cover to diagnose the problem. When he removed the valve cover, he found 3 large pieces of steel sitting on the top of the engine that were broken off from the corner of the steel splash plate that is riveted to the upper inside of the valve cover. The corner that was broken off was directly beneath the opening for the oil reservoir/bottle, meaning someone shoved something into the hole so hard that it broke the steel splash plate. My car is now undrivable because there are minuscule steel fragments floating around my engine in the oil, and it will cost $7000 to rebuild. Beware.

After securing financing we were then handed off to the financial person. He had his own agenda, pushing the expense extended warranties. Keeping us distracted never discussed the price and deposit. Later we were bothered by this and looked over the paperwork. We found the window sticker that had never been applied to the car. It was $8000 more than the sales person told us. Actually it was the MSRP of this vehicle. When we went in to discuss this, we were told the sales person was no longer there. Also, the financial person was let go for his deceptive methods. When we asked about the difference in the price we were told used cars were often more. My research showed that the price we were told was the average for that car when we purchased it.
