We drove across the country to pick it up so communication and timing throughout the process were essential. I could have not been happier with how Hector got everything taken care of. He would pick my calls even outside regular business hours. He even helped me out with the registration process after the purchase. I strongly recommend buying a boat through Hector at this location as it was tremendous quality of service and outstanding expertise.

I will start off by saying my experiences at Longshore have been both good and bad. Purchasing, was…read morea bit rocky due to under prepared salesmen at the Charleston Boat Show in 2020 (some promises were made that they simply couldn't keep). But we got past that. The follow-on scheduled maintenance periods were nice. Decent availability, and they were willing to work with my timing to get the boat in and out. Come time for real warranty work. My Robalo R242 had some bonding issues with the center console below the deck and the T-top was structurally failing because of it. Michael Callahan led me on from July 2022 to October 2022 telling me that the work would be covered under warranty blah blah blah. This is nearly 40 emails back and forth of me checking every week, him apologizing for the delay, rinse and repeat. Finally, in October, Michael kindly lets me know that he's doing me a favor by only making me pay $6200 for the repairs. I contacted Robalo, I spoke with the owner of Longshore (Chris is a really nice guy), and I made sure that the issue was confronted. Magically enough, the following week the boat was on a truck headed to Robalo's factory for WARRANTY work! While the boat was away, Michael wrote me out another quote of over $2000 for stuff that I mostly did myself BEFORE THE BOAT WENT IN because I got tired of waiting on Longshore to do it. (Like $300 to secure the foot rest that they improperly installed). The boat came back to Robalo January 18th, and the only things needing to be done were installation of the GPS (was also warranty), and gel coat repairs which would start within the "next few days". THIS WAS TOLD TO ME ON THE 18TH BY MICHAEL CALLAHAN. They broke the acrylic dashboard while installing the new GPS (Stuff happens, not too upset about it. Checks with the rest of my interactions with my amazing "Service Advisor" Michael). I send an email today to Michael to see what the status is, guess what!?!? Another apology for the delay and now, their gel coat guy is "having a personal problem" and will try to get to it early next week. I am completely baffled, and I'm absolutely disgusted with my "Service Advisor" and how this has been handled. Good luck at the boat show! Take your chances, take your luck, but for the love of all that is holy, don't take Michael Callahan as your Service Advisor at Longshore Boats.

Kurt, the owner, was awesome: super easy to work with, very flexible, and got me in ASAP. The location is convenient, and the quality of the work was excellent. There was a minor issue with the paint line being slightly too low, but they stood behind their work and made it right without hesitation. That kind of accountability and pride in craftsmanship is hard to find. You can tell they really care about their customers and the work they do. Highly recommend -- and now I'm the one referring people to them.

When I disputed the excess charge, he threatened to put a mechanic's lien on my boat. I contacted High and Dry Boatworks for work on my boat. The work was performed by a third party (Barrier Islands Blasting) and I wish I had gone to them first, because the only problems I experienced came from Kurt at High and Dry. As soon as the job was finished, Kurt requested payment. Kurt was pinging me daily, asking about the payment as I tried to transfer adequate funds into Venmo. This was highly unusual, considering Kurt never specified payment terms and never sent an invoice. He explained his daily calls and texts by saying that his boss wanted him to get payment settled, Kurt is clearly owner/operator so that was a weird lie. I decided to pay with credit card. I have the text messages as proof of this: I asked Kurt "So you will charge $X to my credit card? Otherwise I will find a different form of payment." He responded "Yes call with card." A few days later I looked at my credit card statement and realized Kurt had charged a higher amount than we agreed upon. I texted him back about the error and requested he refund it. He said it was a fee and he refused to refund it. I was never notified of this fee, and my understanding was that he was going to charge $X amount as specified in the text. I considered any charges above what we agreed up on to be fraudulent, so I started a dispute with my credit card company. Kurt escalated the situation. He said he was going to put on a lien on my boat until the charge was paid. I'm sure this was an empty threat, but for it's not worth my time or energy to fight a lien over $120. I agreed to drop the dispute, and when I called my credit card company, I found that he had never even responded to the dispute to defend himself. He said when he received the funds he would send an invoice marked "paid in full." I had to contact him several times for the invoice, at which point he sent me an unlocked Excel spreadsheet with some numbers on it, and he said we had the credit card statement as proof of payment. Kurt is extremely unprofessional. He is petulant and vindictive. I would highly recommend that you take your business elsewhere - if you need grit blasting, Barrier Islands Blasting has excellent customer service. If you choose to do business with Kurt, don't pay a dime until you have an invoice that specifies payment terms. I would avoid paying by credit card, since Kurt charged us a different amount that he said he would. I'd also avoid cash, since the burden of proof of payment will be on you.

They've just opened a really nice clubhouse/lounge for members to cool off, have a fun little outside bar that is open on weekends (last year they used to give away beer to members on Sundays!), and have a new little pavilion type spot down on the actual docks that will have live music from time to time. The guys who work at the marina are incredibly nice and well-skilled in maneuvering boats... so have no fear owners, you likely won't find a scratch from them! Members can call and have their boat launched from I think 8am until 4pm. All boats are kept in dry docks and put in the water on request. If you get in after 4pm, you're boat will be safe and sound, and placed back in the dry dock the following morning. The marina crew washes the saltwater off each boat before returning them to their covered stalls which ensures your boat stays as well-maintained as possible. There is also a small convenient store on site that sells beer, water, and a few other beverages. Overall, a really nice spot!

They just built a brand new clubhouse which is fantastic for relaxing. Beer can be purchased on site which is great and the outside bar is a nice area to sit around, although almost never staffed. I've enjoyed my experiences at Daniel Island Marina a lot and look forward to returning again soon. PS...going away from Charleston Harbor up the creek provides great boating on choppier days.
