BECAUSE I already have a mortgage with them, I cannot open a checking account. Hours on the phone with customer service and the result is "only by visiting a branch can you get cleared to open an account" For a senior citizen, living in assisted living without a car, visiting the branch is, to say the least, challenging. Chase touts their accessibility, but that is all talk and no action. I was told years ago, in business to "under promise and over deliver" Chase online banking does just the opposite. They overpromise and under-deliver.

I have learned about this the hard way. Was cheated by a business operating out of who knows where -- they said Florida but the defective item was sent from So. Carolina -- I challenged the charge because the company sent me a piece of junk-yard auto part that was both the wrong part for the make/model and model requested AND was not remanufactured as contracted. Chase Bank, rather than losing a sketchy business client, told me to go pack sand. Ha! Ha! I had to fax all the details and copies of correspondence. (Who uses fax anymore? what is this, the stone age?) To collect all these documents was like filing federal taxes. so 3 hours of waster time and massive frustration. Thanks Chase! Thankfully, where are many credit card companies eager for my business. AVOID CHASE. They are and enable crooks. tfs

I had to get a rather obscure and confusing financial document certified and the wonderful folks at Member's Choice were totally willing to figure out what needed to be done and help me out and did not even charge me anything for the service. There have been multiple occasions in the last few years when I've been charged an insufficient funds fee of $30 when I have, in fact, had more than enough funds to cover the bill in question. Usually this has happened when I've just been paid and the amount has shown up as being in my account when I logged onto the website, but somehow the money wasn't there when I paid whatever the bill was. This just happened to me again this week. And on both occasions when I inherited money after my parents died, they took an inordinate amount of time, several weeks, to release all the money from large checks I received. Do NOT do business with this institution. You're better off with a regular bank or some other credit union.
