We went to a class that Lance Howard from Howard Financial was giving with the hope of learning…read moresomething about retirement/social security. At the class, we made another appointment to meet with him at his office. We were very impressed with his staff, everyone treated us with respect and they were very knowledgeable. He made a phone call on our behalf and ended up saving us quite a bit of money. We would recommend anyone looking for a financial advisor to give him and his office a call. Researched Barnes Wealth after deciding to move from my out of town advisor. Wanting someone local…read morewas my main criteria as I wanted the face to face contact. A 15 minute consultation turned into an hour long conversation with Scott Barks. After our phone conversation, I was already leaning in the direction of going with the firm. The initial face to face meeting as Scott did his presentation sealed the deal for me. The firm takes a holistic approach to the individual as they get to know their client besides the financial assets the client brings. The office staff are great and you feel like family right away. Depending on what you are looking for, I suggest giving them a look to see if the vibe and fit is there. So far the transition has been excellent and walking into the office is always a pleasant feeling. mju

My husband and I do a pretty good job of tracking our expenses and trying to plan for the long run,…read morebut we admittedly don't give it as much time as we should to maximize our returns. We reached out to several financial planners to see if we could get someone to help us better chart our future. This was especially critical as we rapidly approach major life changes like kids and a new home. Barnes was quick to respond, so we moved forward with setting up appointments. Everything has been friendly and casual to this point - they understand our financial personalities and risk tolerance, and have been working diligently to rework some existing accounts to better reflect what we hope to achieve. We have specifically been working with Scott Barks and have loved our interactions thus far. Scott is friendly and down to earth. We're excited to have someone in our corner that can keep a closer eye on our overall financial picture. I've recommended this firm to several friends, be it as a first step in putting together a strong household budget, or planning for retirement 30 years down the line.

We switched to Wayne Long's firm in November 2020 after being at another firm for many, many years…read more At first my only gripe I had with the firm was asking for the previous month's billing sheets was never available until the 15th of the month after they were invoiced..... I will not pay off an invoice if it is not itemized. And if you use them to invoice with, how are they not available upon mailing of said invoice? Fast forward to the end of September 2021, for our first ever tax planning meeting at Wayne Long's office. Wayne didn't come to our meeting prepared to discuss any of our companies but instead rather tell me, our CEO and his wife, stories on how his other clients were doing, for two hours. Shortly after this meeting is when our CEO started noticing other projects were taking long to get done by Wayne. So, we looked for another CPA. We gave them two entities that have a 09/30 fiscal year end to do with all the documentation by the end of October and they had to file an extension as they didn't even start looking at our stuff until after the New Year. Questions were not asked of me of the data provided until January and we were never supplied with a list of documents that they require to do our entity for the first time. We didn't even get an engagement letter to sign until February 8th, 2022, even though they had it dated October 18th, 2021. We kept asking for our tax returns over and over, with excuses that they are still working on them, week after week. We finally got them at the end of February. Now comes to the biggest gripe, the pettiness of Wayne Long after learning of our companies will be leaving his office. We let them know the morning of March 7th, 2022 that we were moving CPAs and introduced the new CPAs in an email to him. Several emails to them asking them to give the necessary tax schedules, workpapers to our new CPAs - either go unanswered or given the message that they are swamped and will get to it at the end of the week. Mean while our new CPAs are just as busy as they are but have time to write an email to get this response. Then have to write other emails to remind them after they do not give the information when they said they would. Get to March 29th, 2022, when the new CPA emailed again asking for answers to questions that were asked of two easy entities numerous times over, gets an email back from Wayne Long mocking him and belittling him. I have this email for proof, as I was cc'd on it. I have never worked with an CPA before that acted like this and will avoid working with someone like him going forward.
