I knew something was going on near my upper left molars, but I couldn't pinpoint which tooth it was. I went to my dentist, who took x-rays and told me he was pretty sure it was a particular molar, suggested I needed a root canal, and referred me to Dr. Pratt at Prescott Endodontic Associates. They were able to get me an appointment the next day. I arrived for my midday appointment. Dr. Pratt did extensive testing to ensure that we pinpointed the correct tooth, then told me he could do the root canal immediately. What? RIGHT NOW? It doesn't take two or three visits? I was astonished. To be fair, I was "in the chair" for a solid three hours. But Dr. Pratt and his able assistant, Jess, made sure I was 100% comfortable and kept me pain free the entire time. I was also impressed with the high-tech equipment they used, including Dr. Pratt using a microscope to locate my hard-to-find roots and Jess taking in-progress X-rays that instantly appeared on the monitor before me. I already had a crown on that tooth. I was afraid I might have to get a new one. But Dr. Pratt drilled a hole through the crown to get to the root(s) and remove them, then filled the hole. I had no idea that was even a possibility. Dentistry has come a long, long way from my childhood in the early 60s! My tooth was a bit sensitive for a couple of weeks afterward, but that was to be expected. I had no post-trauma infection pop up, which was my biggest concern. The icing on the cake was when a check arrived in the mail a few weeks later as a result of my insurance having covered more than had been estimated - a nice bonus! 10/10 would recommend every member of Dr. Pratt's team - from the front office staff to the accounting staff to his assistant Jess - to anyone needing endodontic care. This was first-class dentistry at its finest.

The tooth (a molar with 3 roots) was crowned so she drilled right down and did her thing. I had some pain during the procedure and she stopped, juiced me up and went back to work. Some mild discomfort that evening but I felt OK the next morning. My general dentist was able to patch the crown so that didn't have to be replaced. I would go back to her, I just hope I never have to!

For the past 6 days, I have been dealing with one of the worst pain episodes in my life. One of my upper left tooth started to give me immense trouble while I was flying to Austin (I did go to an ER in Austin for a temporary solution) and being that it was Memorial Day weekend (translates to FML), I had to wait 5 days pumped full of pain meds and antibiotics before I finally got a diagnosis and some treatment. I did manage to go to another dentist in town, but that wasn't very helpful. I actually then called Dr. Crane's office and they suggested I visited Dr. Leiendecker's office. I called her office yesterday morning and they were able to get me in today. The office sent me an email to fill out forms beforehand (easy process) and today when I came for the appointment, I just had to sign a few forms. Dr. Leiendecker (and her assistant) were great with me! She explained everything to me and told me also that she didn't think a root canal was actually necessary and wanted to make sure I was doing the best thing for my teeth and also didn't want me to spend so much money. Wow, I was really so shocked how caring she was with me. Its been a long time since I met a doctor like her. I highly recommend her if you need an endodontist. I wish I could make her my general dentist because she gives such good care. I'm so grateful that she helped me today, made the pain go away and made sure my tooth would be ok. We moved to Scottsdale about six or seven years ago. My wife did a ton of research before picking a…read moredentist and she chose S&L with Dr. David Ngo. I went with a different place at first because it was closer to where we were living. Well, that turned out to be a mistake. I ended up having a bad experience there and finally switched to S&L. Dr. Ngo and his team fixed everything the other dentist had messed up. Right away I knew my wife had been right all along. I've been going to S&L for four years now and they really are the best dental office I've ever been to. Dr. Ngo has removed all my old metal fillings and replaced them with modern ones, plus he's done a couple of crowns for me. Everything looks and feels great. My wife has also been extremely happy with all the work he's done for her too. I'm almost 55 and I've seen a bunch of top-rated, highly recommended dentists over the years, both here in the US and a couple in Mexico. Nothing else comes close. One thing I have to mention is how good Dr. Ngo is with people who hate dental visits or get nervous about pain. His work is excellent, but it's the way he takes care of you that makes the biggest difference. For example, the way he does Novocaine shots is unbelievable. You barely feel it at all. Every dentist out there should learn his technique. With all that said, I do think the front office experience could be better. If the customer service up front matched Dr. David's clearly caring vibe, it would be 100% perfect. If you're looking for a truly professional dentist who gives five-star care and service, this is the place. Dr. David Ngo at S&L is the only one I would recommend without any hesitation.

I chose this dentist because of all the amazing reviews, and so I thought I'd detail my experience…read morebecause it wasn't as perfect as the reviews make it seem. They seem very knowledgable and seem to know what they're doing when it comes to dentistry, but my concerns are more in the administration side of things. I changed jobs earlier this year and got new insurance with a common major insurance provider, and I needed to get a procedure done. I asked them what the procedure would cost and they gave me a quote, which was already expensive, and I paid that at the time of service. However, when I came in for a routine cleaning 6 months later, they said the insurance "didn't pay as much as they thought" and stuck me with MORE THAN DOUBLE their original quote. I looked into the insurance claim and called the insurance company myself, and the insurance company paid exactly what was according to their billing schedule. There were no surprises. I think the office knew (or should have known, because they're the professionals and this is what they do) that this would happen, and they dishonestly gave me a lower quote, did the service, and then stuck me with the even more expensive bill (but to their credit, they did give me a lower price than what they billed to insurance, but it was still VERY expensive that I was not prepared for). Additionally, I distinctly recall the procedure treated four teeth, but then on the bill and insurance claim, they say they treated six. Unfortunately, I don't really know how to argue this, especially because it happened so long ago. I suspect they didn't contact me about this issue earlier for this exact reason. Again, dishonest. Another concern with this dentist is that it's unprofessional that they use Zelle to get around credit/debit card transaction fees. Every merchant has to deal with card transaction fees, they shouldn't be up-charging that cost and they shouldn't be using Zelle, which is supposed to just be a peer-to-peer payment network. Lastly, as much as I love dogs, I don't think it's hygienic that they keep a dog in their office. In all, I started off loving this dentist, and very disappointed that they turned out to be this unprofessional and dishonest. I'm sad I'll have to go elsewhere from now on.
