I am writing this review because my daughter is absolutely broken hearted. She is broken hearted because she absolutely misses her caregivers at Chappell's FSCJ North Campus location! I understand a lot of people are probably reeling right now, trying to decide what to do with their children this fall with the COVID-19 pandemic, so I felt it would be helpful to share my experience over the past year with the North Campus Center.
The staff at Chappell's North Campus is absolutely amazing. My daughter began attending daycare at Chappell in September 2019 full time. When she began, she was struggling with potty training and had never been out of my sight. The day she began daycare at Chappell was the last time she had a potty accident, they had her completely potty trained on day one, that night she even woke up and used the bathroom with out me asking her (The caregivers at Chappell must have super natural potty training abilities) She spent the whole day with them on the very first day, that night she cried because she didn't want to leave, she was absolutely in love with the caregivers in the 3-4 year old classroom.
These women love each one of the kids with their souls. They know each child's individual personaly and can tell immediately is something has changed in the child's routine. One night when I went to pick up Catalina, Mrs Tiffany had explained to me that: "Catalina might be getting sick or something isn't right, she just wasn't her normal self today, her energy was off." I brought Catalina home and we had a pretty normal night, the next day, Catalina was sick. Tiffany and her other two care givers were able to detect the slightest change in my child's behavior that not even I was able to notice. During the holiday events I would carefully watch the North campus staff interact with the children. The love between the staff at Chappell North and children is mutual and palpable, they are a big family. Catalina decided she was not having it with Santa Claus last year, and attached herself to her teacher the entire day, this is huge for Catalina and spoke worlds to me as her mom: she trusts her teachers as her protectors and knows they will keep her safe.
Now let's talk about cleanliness. The staff at Chappell schools are some of the cleanest people I have ever known. I picked up Catalina from daycare between 5:30-6:00 PM every night. 3 times a week I would walk in and the classroom would smell like lemons and Clorox (this was before COVID, I can only imagine how they clean the childcare environment now!) The caregivers would wipe down their classroom from top to bottom. Toys would be soaking in tubs of disinfectant on Friday nights; Sometimes, like during cold/flu season, even more often. The classroom was always nicely decorated, but literally sparkling clean. Catalina would come home with some paint smudges or marker on her cloths, but her cloths were never dirty like she had been rolling in dirty somewhere, her bright white shirts came home, still bright white. When I would drop off Catalina during mealtime, I would watch as the employees all washed their hands thoroughly with soap and water, then put on gloves before handling any child's food, no cross contamination.
Chappell feeds all the children in their care. Catalina ate better then me most days! At least two full meals and many delicious snacks. She would even take time to tell me the days "Mr Raj" had made food she absolutely adored, how he picks the very best fruit in the whole world. Every child at that campus swears Mr Raj cooks just for them, he makes the food feel special. I have met Mr Raj, I have seen his secret ingredient: He cooks with absolute love. I had the pleasure of eating a Thanksgiving lunch with the class in November, the baked Mac and cheese was amazing, and the turkey was moist!
COVID-19 pushed my college learning off campus and because the school is a 30 minute round trip drive from my house, I brought Catalina home out of an abundance of caution and convenience. Looking back, I question my decision to do that, I think she would have been just fine back at school.
Least to say, I am pretty sure when they hired the staff for Chappell School's North Campus, the job requirements included supernatural child raising abilities, endless levels of love and compassion, and a thorough love of cleaning. Catalina almost exploded when I told her last night she would be going back to Chappell in a few weeks for VPK. Did I mention they taught her the ABC's and she can count up to 30??? She wasn't in their VPK program last year, she was just in daycare!
I hope the top-level leadership takes the time to make sure the staff at FSCJ North campus knows exactly how special and gifted they are as employees. read more
