THIS PLACE IS HAVING THEIR FRIENDS AND FAMILY MAKE FAKE REVIEWS TO HIDE OUR TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE…read more Dont let their stars fool you. Instead of being open and honest about their establishment they are having people give fake reviews.** We rented this space for our toddlers 2nd birthday. Although the inside is a fun and welcoming environment for kids and parents, the host for our event was not welcoming at all. We had a horrible experience with her. They have an imagination station for kids to play freely with toys and all the host did the entire time was follow the children around and put all the toys back instead of letting the children feel free to play. It's like she wanted everything in exact order at all times! These are toddlers who want to play from station to station and all she did was interrupt them the entire time! This place also has a ball pit and she was yelling at 2-5 year olds like a mean old grandma to stop throwing the balls! She wouldn't allow the children to play, she hovered over them like a hawk. She ACTIVELY took a lollipop out of the mouths of 3 toddlers! Instead of coming to us or other parents to tell the babies no candy in the play area, she took it upon herself to take the candy from their mouths and throw it away. She also made the children clean up after themselves with the toys. These are guests!! And we paid ALOT of money for people to attend and have fun and she made them clean!! Instead of coming to the parents. Horrible horrible service. I would NOT RECOMMEND this place to anyone who has active children who love to play. All they will do is make the kids clean and cry. I expected so much more from this place. The host name was Mayela and she made all of the guests feel unwelcomed and uncomfortable.

From open gym basketball, volleyball and pickle ball, to sports like swim, basketball, ballet, t-ball, and soccer. Not to mention a gym and various fitness classes offered, there is truly something for the entire family of all ages here! The staff is pretty friendly and does a good job managing the traction and influx of neighbors that come in and out. My kiddos have personally enjoyed playing basketball and taking swim classes here. The sign up for swim is so competitive and grueling, but it is what it is! I'm considering signing up myself! I personally appreciate the cleanliness of the facility too. Grateful for this gem! Check it out if you haven't!

One of the prettiest parks you'll find in El Paso and it definitely houses a lot of great memories…read morefor locals. Everything from concerts to 5Ks are held at this park and at one time this was home to Western Playland (before it's move to NM, it actually was a great amusement park). In the center is the lake where you can go fishing or paddle out on a boat. I'm not entirely sure why, but people don't swim here. It's actually out of El Pasoans character to swim in anything but an actual designated pool which completely breaks my heart. I grew up swimming in creeks, lakes, and rivers and never once did I question the green stuff growing down the ways or whatever touched my foot (you always just assumed it was a catfish), but Ascarate Lake is actually a clean looking lake so it is literally the ideal swimming spot. My friends from Wisconsin wouldn't hesitate to jump in Ascarate...just saying. Ascarate Park may in fact be the largest park in El Paso and it's one of my favorites. There are a few improvements that I think could be made like adding a dog park and allowing re-admittance at events (you have to pay every time even though they give you a ticket, what the hell is the ticket for then?), but overall it's a great place for an event or an evening out with friends and family. Oh and it's free on the weekdays!

This park is pretty big, and I love that there's a gravel path that wraps around the lake. Word of warning, I recommend paying attention to weather forecasts and avoid running outside just before/during a dust storm unless you love sand in your mouth. and eyes. There several great reasons to making your way over to Ascarate Park. Being active outside is one of them. Whether you're participating in an official running race or just getting some miles in your shoes, it's a relaxing area to run (and/or jog, walk, bike). There are quite a few 5K runs that take place here including the Walking Dead 5K Run that takes place on the weekend of Halloween ('real' zombies are after your two flags; terrify and fun!). This also the place for HUGE concerts/music festivals. There's certainly enough field space. These big events are usually well advertised for months over the radio. Or check out the 'Events' tab on Yelp! Family time is another reason to visit this park. Every time I've been here I've seen families picnicking/barbecuing under the picnic awnings. These are located throughout the park. There are also at least two play grounds for the kiddos! Definitely a family-friendly place. If only I lived closer to Ascarate, I would spend more evenings running here. But feel free to reach out if you're interested in finding other running routes/paths near Fort Bliss/Airport or on the Westside of town.

With that in mind, I think that for the size of the city this zoo has a lot of potential for the size of the city and has improved significantly in the last few years. I recently visited the El Paso Zoo for the first time in 15 years and was amazed as how much it has changed. Compared to other zoos, their prices are very reasonable and I like that they also offer military and senior discounts. We visited on Super Bowl Sunday and it was absolutely perfect! The place was not super busy and since it was a little chilly all the animals were super active. Some of our favorites were the penguins and the meerkats. One thing to keep in mind if you visit very early is that all of their stores and vendors are still closed so it does take a few hours for them to open everything up. They also had some sections of the zoo closed up for renovations but not too many. Frankly it was nice to see that they are working to improve the living conditions of the animals. What really stood out about this place were the unique animals - There's a lot to see from the Chihuahuan Desert, and other nearby regions. Each area is also nicely organized by Africa, Asia, The Americas, etc. There were a few places closed due to renovations but I'll assume that's because of the time of year. This zoo is pretty great! And only a short ride from downtown!
