Chapel Hill Florist popped up as one of the top search results with a 4.5 star average rating with 15 reviews. Good enough for me. From their Yelp page, I clicked through to Chapel Hill Florist's website. When I shop for flowers online (https://www.yelp.com/collection/BsisJC9_j6A_evQYhzGxqw), I usually don't take long to decide which arrangement to purchase. I was immediately drawn to the "Summer" link at the top of Chapel Hill Florist's front page. My wife loves anything local and seasonal, so checking out their Summer flower selection was definitely the way to go. There were five bouquets, starting in price from $49.99 to $99.99 each. There was also a Designer's Choice option starting at $49.99. These flowers weren't for a special occasion and I just wanted something relatively basic, so I went with the Designer's Choice option. I liked the description: "Baffled about what to send? Or perhaps you want to surprise them with a one-of-a-kind, artisanal arrangement? With our Designer's Choice bouquets, you pick your price and our expert florists exercise their creativity to design a beautiful bouquet using the freshest seasonal flowers available. When you send a Designer's Choice bouquet, you can feel confident knowing our expert floral designers will create an unforgettable flower arrangement. Please note that flowers and designs will vary as our artisan florists work with the freshest, in-season flowers and their own personal inspiration - but you can be sure your bouquet will delight!" Sold. I immediately proceeded to check out. I went with the "Standard" $49.99 bouquet. The total was $64.48 after $9.99 delivery charge and $4.50 sales tax. I ordered on a Monday night around 9:45pm and was able to select delivery for the next day. The flowers arrived at 11:48am Tuesday. Fast. I got a delivery confirmation email and the driver left a note saying the flowers were left at the door. Perfect. It didn't take long for my wife to see the flowers because she came home for lunch. She loved them. She said she couldn't stop smiling. The flowers did their job 100%. I'm a good husband. The flowers were also popular with the ladies on Instagram, judging from the numerous responses my wife got when she posted a picture of the flowers to her story. I was curious what kinds of flowers would come in the arrangement because I left everything up to the shop. My wife told me the flowers included lilies, snapdragons, mums, garden spray roses, regular roses, zinnias, and more. The bouquet is beautiful. Supreme Customer Service: Chapel Hill Florist I retired late last year and was gifted the MOST glorious orchid. It was purple and had 20 bloom buds. Delighted, I took it home and began caring for it in the same manner as my other orchid. Initially I noticed none of the buds opened, then the leaves started to turn yellow and the plant died. Long story short, I was convinced that there was a problem with this orchid and I deemed it my duty to let this reputable florist know about their supplier, you know, as a courtesy. =) Ken, the owner, was most kind via email. He told me it was probably over-watered. I assured him that was not the case and I just wanted to let him know about my experience. He didn't argue. He didn't make me feel stupid. What he did was amazing. Knowing almost certainly that his business was not at fault and under zero obligation to me-he offered me another orchid. I now accept, considering the planting medium, I most certainly DID over-water and kill my beautiful plant. Ken was so kind and so gracious. He deserves your business. After posting my previous review I received a phone call from the manager offering to refund me or remake the arrangement. Although I chose neither I was really impressed with their customer service, their timeliness of when I posted the review and the call, as well as their eagerness to rectify the situation. They care about customer satisfaction and I was impressed with how they handled the situation. I chose not to be refunded because they did provide a service. I didn't want them to "loose" money because of my dissatisfaction with the presentation. And remaking the arrangement/re delivering it seems a little weird to me. Like I was gifting flowers twice. I would have given this place four stars but for the fact that the woman at the register seemed to think I had come to kill her. Not once did she smile or attempt to make me feel at ease. I would have given zero star if I could. I ordered 20 stem yellow tulips online ($70+) for my commencement, as I was flying from out of town with my family and could not get to the shop when it's still open. The flowers that were delivered looked wilted and dried out and the bouquet carelessly thrown together. I had to rush to whole foods and got another bouquet (also yellow tulips) for $15, which is much fresher and looks much better that lasted the entire commencement weekend. I really shouldn't have trusted Chapel Hill Florists' service and will never recommend anybody get flowers there. If you go to their shop, things might be different, but to them online orders seem to be an opportunity to cheat money out of customers. read more

Chapel Hill Florist is a tiny floral shop on West Franklin Street next to Lime & Basil. The shop is tiny, but still maintains a decent selection of fresh cut flowers. My one complaint about Chapel Hill Florist is that they are not as efficient with special orders as other florists I have dealt with. If they do not have a special flower readily available, they struggle to get it in stock in order to meet the needs of their customer. Other than that, the flowers are always fresh and promptly delivered; not a bad choice for a last minute bouquet that they have in stock. read more

Before today I had never previously used Chapel Hill Florist. Not knowing what to expect, I called them last minute with an attempt to send my wife some flowers as a surprise at the end of her work week. Given the fact that it was 1:30 pm I figured my chances were pretty low but I would call around to see if anyone could make it happen. Luckily, Ken from Chapel Hill Florist answered the phone, made it extremely easy for me, and before I knew it I had a bouquet of flowers ordered with the promise that they would be there between 5 and 5:30. Well pleased with the fact that it was possible to make a delivery on that short of notice, I hung up satisfied that I had made the right choice. Fast forward to 3:30, 2 hours earlier than they told me would be possible, my wife called me to tell me how beautiful the flowers were and how surprised she was to get them unexpectedly. I received an arrangement today from Chapel Hill Florist. When I told the delivery person that I was not pleased with it he said "It's yours now...Merry Christmas" and turned and walked away. I called the florist to express my disappointment and the man who answered the phone and who'd made the arrangement asked me what I did not like about it. When I replied he argued with me and told me that if I did not like the arrangement to "throw it in the trash" and hung up on me. I realize that the holidays are very stressful for many people but I found this whole experience very unpleasant to say the least. I had a great experience with Chapel Hill Florist. I ordered a bouquet to pick up on Sunday, Valentine's Day and on Saturday, close to 5PM, I decided I wanted it delivered instead. The problem was that they couldn't guarantee what time it would be delivered exactly but I needed it delivered in the morning so I could go out. Not only was the gentleman on the phone extremely polite and understanding of my sudden and last-minute change but his tone was super gracious and in the end he put a note on the bouquet and said the next day he would make sure that the delivery people would deliver that one before the others to accommodate my special request.
