I like to treat myself to a taste sensation every time I dine out, I want to experience a well balanced mix between herbs and spices, not too hot, not too spicy, but each bite should include a little bit of zing. I tried out Thai Torbay Restaurant, and was quite impressed with the flavour rich meals they presented our party. Everyone present was raving about their meals, the value for money received, and how they all expected to make this a culinary regular. Thai Torbay does take-aways too, but it's not fast food, just good food on the move.

However, I don't understand other peoples ratings (on other websites) of this Thai takeaway joint. I have had more flavoursome Thai food at other restaurants and takeaways, but what really gets me about this place is the portion sizes! Very small containers compared to what the majority of other Asian take outs give for around the same price. Also, whenever I pass by their shop during lunch or dinner hours (which is often since I am local) it is always empty. My quest for Thai food in the East Coast Bay's of Auckland continues!

I still come here often and dine in with my friends or get takeaway. Last week I got a takeaway chicken Pad Thai that confirmed my suspicions about the food here. It was still quite yummy and the portion was large but it didn't have that wow factor or the mouth watering superiority I always crave. I tasted my friend's garlic chicken dish and thought that was pretty good. So maybe it was a bad night for the old Pad Thai.. who knows. I'm not going to black list this place just yet. I will give it another go, after all it is local and it is affordable.
