A fellow coworker mentioned this establishment as having amazing tortas. The opportunity arose and I took his advice. First of all, I'm not big on tortas. But after coming here, I definitely am. Especially here. I got the Lomo Torta by my friend's suggestion and was absolutely impressed. I received my torta from the wonderful ladies and walked back to my work truck. My cab was filled with aromatic goodness that it took some willpower to control the drooling and take pics. Hehehe. Yes, seriously. Lol The bread was toasty, warm, soft inside, delicious shredded tender pork, fresh veggies and sauce. I'm kicking myself for not buying 2!! Maybe next time because I'm definitely coming back here. Great local business in a shopping plaza off the 805. Plenty of parking. Seems to be a hit with locals, both walk ins and phone orders. My friend got the Chango Mango, which came in a massive portion and was almost like a sweet icee. I opted for a turkey torta. So good! Crunchy, warm bread. Filled with lettuce, jalapeño, and spicy sauce. Generous turkey and cheese. Loved it. Service was organized, friendly, and prompt. Great spot! read more

If I'm looking for a good torta I always support my local fruterías. Chango mango is my favorite place close to home with the best people behind the counter. Their torta de lomo (add queso de panela of course) is my order every time and you really get the best bang for your buck with how much they stuff their tortas. I also love how they make it the perfect level of spicy (in my opinion) and I wash it down with one of their freshly made aguas or licuados. This little spot reminds me of "La Michoacana" to a certain extent with the items that they offer. This is our go to spot. This little deli always has very fresh ingredients. We always order a torta which is stuffed full of meat and vegetables. They are huge so we often split them. Their fruits are always fresh and tasty. Our favorite is the Bionico. Chopped fruits mixed with sweet cream with granola, raisins, coconut and almonds. Service is always friendly and quick. Change Magno total hole in the wall. Craving for something cold and came across Chango Mango while showing homes. I ordered 2 chamangos both small but their serving size seemed like a large. Which was cool! Especially how expensive chamangos are normally, so having a bigger size for a small was great! The chamango was good and not super sweet but after all it is mango and mango is already sweet. At the end I had to tell my husband to get it away from me or else I was going to drink it all. I ended up at Chango Mango after mistakenly thinking that there would be more options close to the amphitheater to grab a bite before a concert. Turns out that there are very few choices for sandwiches in the area and Chango Mango was the closest option. I chose the turkey sandwich with no onions or jalapenos and asked for mustard to be added. Unfortunately, they only had yellow and I'd prefer a spicy deli mustard but any mustard is better than no mustard. It was odd that the only choice of cheese is swiss but that's my go-to cheese anyway. The sandwich tasted fine but there was nothing special about it. Just a very basic sandwich. At least the price was good at $5.99 though. I think if I return, I may skip the sandwich and try a smoothie instead. read more

Prior to coming to Chango Mango, had no idea that it existed and if it weren't for the perfect turn of events, it would have remained that way until the end of time! I don't often mosey down to Chula Vista except for the occasional concert, which is what brought me to the area this time. My friend and I arrived earlier than the rest of our group and in hopes to get parking together at the amphitheater to tailgate, we decided to grab a sandwich beforehand in order to give them a little more time to meet us outside of the venue. After a few minute Yelp search, we were both very surprised to find that there are not many options within a few miles of the amphitheater and since we didn't want to get back on the congested 805 work traffic freeway, we went to Chango Mango by default. We both thought it was adorable from the rainbow colored outside signage, to the friendly staff. I opted for the turkey sandwich, but substituted the cheese. It comes with swiss, which I don't like, so when I asked what other type of cheese they have, I was told there was just one other kind. I had never heard of it before, but took the chance and it ended up being quite good and had the perfect texture for the sandwich. I was quite surprised to hear that they had no other cheese options and I wasn't thrilled that there was an upcharge for the cheese substitute, but I didn't have much choice. In the end, my sandwich was just fine, but nothing to write home about. I wouldn't be opposed to coming back here again if in the same situation, but I would not go out of my way to come here. I was hoping to find some goodies, instead I found steep prices with just ok choices. I had in mind to get a fruit salad or maybe some chili tamarind candy. The fruit choices weren't good and looked like it had been sitting out. I thought they would cut up fresh fruit but instead it was already in a cooler with dried up (not dried fruit) fruit that is supposed to be fresh. I decided to order a chicken salad... same idea. It was a basic small salad with a tiny amount of pre cooked chicken you buy at the market. The lady gave me a small container of salad dressing. When I asked her for a second dressing m, she said she would have to charge me extra. Seriously?!
