Thanks to her staff, my excellent credit dropped 140 points, because of billing errors. The insurance called on my behalf and they did not want to help. It took my searching to figure out, that the office sent the wrong biopsy report for the date, that they were billing. They did not submit correct biopsy. The bills were sent to wrong address, I never received them and they never bother to give me a courtesy call about it. They had my number. This is not how you handle these billing problems, especially not considering the patient credit. I am quite familiar with medical billing. Before you impact someone's credit that has been a long time patient, call them. I pay my bills as soon as I get them. read more

Do not waste your time and money going to this doctor. She has ZERO bed side manner, personality or compassion for her patients. I felt like my appointment was a cattle call, she was in and out of the room in probably less than 3 minutes. It makes me incredibly sad that this office went from one of the best to one of the worst. I used to pay out of pocket to be seen here because they used to be so good. One visit(which just popped up on my FB memories this morning) was not great at all. They had me do the footwork for a miscommunication they and DermTech had. I received a bill for $760 when I was told by TLC Derm that it would be $50. They sent me back and forth calling DermTech & them, to resolve the issue that I know I wasn't the only one having. DermTech even told me point blank that this was an issue with TLC Derm yet there I was spending hours trying to resolve it. TLC Derm should have fixed it but they made the patients do it. As much as we pay to go there and them being the ones who are misinforming patients, they should have been the ones to resolve the issue. They also raised the prices for cash pay clients for the visit. The last time I went, I had a new gal in training, it was her first day, using a new way to test moles that wasn't so invasive. When she did them, I felt that maybe she wasn't rubbing hard enough to get enough cells onto the sticker test(sorry I cannot remember what they called this). Sure enough, I get a call that they didn't have enough cells to tell whether or not the moles they tested were clear so they needed me to come back to re-do the tests. I had already paid over $300 the first time and they had planned to charge me over $200 the following week to re-do the test that the new girl didn't do correctly. I said absolutely not and canceled the appointment. This office is more about profit rather than the patient. I am disappointed and I will never go back. read more

I agree with all the other 1 star reviews. Dr came in and spent 1 minute spraying me with something and charged an extreme amount for the service. I was really upset that I was charged over $250 for a one minute visit. Tried to call the office to have an explanation. I finally just filed an investigation into the bill and got it resolved. I've worked many places and have to say this is by far the worst. They treat people like ignorant cattle, no breaks, doctor seeing 70 patients in a 7 hour time period is a joke. I went here a few years ago and am still dealing with a scar that they gave me from a biopsy. The only after care they offered was "to shoot it up with steroids" which is pretty unprofessional to say and deterred me from going back. They are also not upfront about the price of services, and this will force you to fight your insurance and their business. Please don't ever go here. I have moved on to Redding Dermatology and their dermatologist was upfront in the fact that a lot of their patients are former patients of this business. Nice office, view and staff. Dr came in fast with no introduction of herself. Very cheerful but only spent about 1 minute spraying with the can of something she had and left. No explanations and so non personal. I'm in healthcare and spending a few minutes to get to know a new patient goes a long way and it doesn't have to take long. First impressions to a new and anxious paying customer can determine if I'll come back. If I feel like a number I most likely will not come back. Not a good experience at all. read more

Went in for an overall skin check Due to being blonde and out doors frequently. I had to request that I wanted to remove my clothes so that the doctor could exam me. When Dr. Chang came in there was no greeting or discussion of my concerns. I showed her some spots of concern and she quickly sprayed them with a cold solution. Nothing was noted about the area. After a two minute visit she was ready to leave and I asked her if she didn't want to check my arms. There was no scalp check or feet. I was shocked by the neglect, dismissive visit. I was further shocked when I received a bill for hundreds of dollars. I would certainly recommend avoidance of this office. read more

My wife and I had our appointment at the same time. Dr. Chang walked into the room with her scorekeeper, picked up her liquid nitrogen, said "who's first" and started spraying on my wife's arms before asking why we were even there. She took about five minutes with my wife then started on me...another five minutes. Then, as she was leaving, suggested that we needed her TLC cream to keep "this" (whatever "this" was) from reoccurring. The 'TLC cream' is some generic cream that would cost maybe $8-$10 at Safeway to which a transparent 'TLC' label has been applied and for which she charges $51. If you have a dermatological problem, I would advise going to a REAL dermatologist that actually cares about his/her patients. read more

I have a rare, genetic skin disorder that has stumped nearly a dozen dermatologists over the years so I was searching for some assistance trying to get answers. Dr. Chang was recommended by a friend. Being a new patient, it took 3 months to get an appointment but I expected a wait. I also had a couple of suspicious growths I needed checked which was the primary reason for the appointment and, based on consultations with all the previous dermatologists, I figured I would at least ask her about my skin disease while there but didn't really expect her to know much if anything about my condition. Upon arriving, I was warmly greeted by very cheerful and professional staff members. The office is located right on the bank of the river so the view is beautiful. The office is very clean and comfortable. Not sure if it was an exceedingly busy day or if it's normal to wait nearly an hour beyond your scheduled appointment time, but that was the case here. After about 15 minutes waiting in an exam room, an assistant came to take my vitals and get preliminary info. 45 minutes later, Dr Chang came in. She was very pleasant and professional. After shaking my hand and noticed the skin condition, she asked me about it. I told her to date, I'd never gotta clear diagnosis and asked if she had any idea what it was. To my surprise, she knew exactly what it was and explained she had actually treated this rare condition before! She briefly explained a bit about this very rare condition! I just wanted to hug her! She had no idea I've been searching for years for someone who knew something.. ANYTHING about this disease! In the course of dealing with and removing the unrelated and suspicious spots I'd come to see her about, she talked to me about some possible treatments she wanted to try! She said she really wanted to try to help me and I could tell she genuinely cared! Look, I realize that in today's world of fast paced, profit driven medical care, it's no longer possible to have a "Marcus Welby, MD" relationship with a doctor but it's truly a breath of fresh air to come across a physician these days who's willing to take a bit of time to listen to a patient and put in the effort to actually try to find solutions to more complex issues. I have a follow up appointment in a month and look forward to working with Dr Chang and her staff in the future for all of my dermatology issues! Very pleased! read more

My experience was less than I'd expect from a "christian" professional. Without going into detail....my opinion is it's more about money for her than excellent patient care. I liked her staff and realize that the Dr has the final word so I don't blame them for my results. Music in office is wonderful, however it gave me the impression that the Dr was Christian and would treat me fairly. Too bad. Dr. Chang is very friendly, provided a thorough and professional examination and identified a solution for the problem I was experiencing. My only complaint is they do not have an office e-mail address. Because of this, they didn't email my new patient paperwork so I could fill it out at my convenience prior to my appointment. Also, I needed to send them insurance documentation and was unable to do so because they only have a FAX machine connection to the outside world; and who uses FAX anymore? Come on Office Manager...get with the times and get an e-mail address. Dr. Chang is great and I highly recommend her as a Dermatologist. read more

Friendly, professional staff. Great for existing patients, they were able to get me in the next day on a cancellation. Dr. Chang is very personable and professional. So difficult to be critical of such a very nice person, however Dr. Chang's skill level is sorely lacking. I have experienced several errors on her part, among others, prescribing the wrong medication, and the latest one put me at risk for developing a severe illness. For these reasons I need to find another doctor. Perhaps, Dr. Chang is new in the practice of dermatology, but it is hard to excuse so many errors. read more

I agree the staff is nice and the doctor is nice also, but their policy of making appointments 1 year in advance, is not a good policy. I lost or misplaced the appointment card and was charged $50.00 no show fee. They claimed they had called and left a message, I never got one. Then had the nerve to say "everyone says the same thing they lost the card or didn't mark it down, and we just can't allow waving the fee everytime that happens". I really don't care how nice the staff is or the doctor, this policy stinks. It's time to move on to a doctor that has a better policy than ripping you off for $50.00 because making appointments that far in advance is ridiculous. I know right from the start there be a problem. To many unforeseen things can happen in that year. As it was I had to do a needed stress test that day. The correct policy should be to ask the patient if they would like to make the appointment in advance or would you like to fill out a reminder card? "It's time to make your appointment". My dentist does that and sending that reminder card works out very well for me. I have the reminder card and I make the appointment when I know I can go. read more

After several visits for skin cancer screenings and repeated freezings, I ended up going to another dermatologist where they biopsied what turned out to be skin cancer requiring extensive mohs micrographic surgeries. I was referred to TLC for small spot pink on nose. I was diagnosed with Rosacea by Dr. Chang.. I used the prescribed medicine for about 3 months. No change. Went to Redding Derm and had a biopsy done ~ SUPERFICIAL Basel cell! For 7 weeks I've had to apply chemo cream. I DO NOT have Rosacea, and never did. I've spoken with 6 people that have had this same diagnosis of Rosacea from her and NONE of them had it. One was a pure Italian woman. Rosacea is usually for Scottish, English and Irish decent ~ those with fair skin. I do not feel she is very qualified. I am in total agreement with Lorrie G. and Michael B. that have posed their experiences. Glad the 3 of us are okay. Hope these reviews save other people from misdiagnosis! ! ! read more

While making payments to the Dr. she stopped sending bills and sent my balance to a collection agency. NOT good customer service. Sometimes you need to make payments when the bill is outrageous.
