First store I visited on my shopping day in Eureka Springs was this large hat store. I adore hats…read more The store itself has a lot of atmosphere. Old building embracing its classy identity. In addition to the perfectly staged hats, there are antiques here and there. Nice antiques. Not dirty, smelly antiques (which I like, but not in a hat shop). Slag glass lamps and other things. But that isn't so significant as this place is 97% hats. Isn't that great? When I go hat shopping at Macy's, I have to deal with purses, scarves, gloves, etc. Maybe they bad some of these things in the hat store, but if so, there were so few that I didn't notice them. All kinds of hats. A range of prices. Some fancy. Some casual. So many colors and styles for both men and women. The hats I liked the most tended to be $40-$150. However, I found a cute blue knit hat that was less than $25. Employees were helpful and didn't pressure us at all. No photos allowed -- understandable. I'd hate for the place to be full of people taking selfies in hats they aren't going to buy when the rest of us are on millinery missions. And we sure were. 3 of the 4 of us bought hats. One person who doesn't wear hats much because she doesn't have a head for them found herself torn between several hats. Magical place. I stopped in the next day because I wanted to find another hat. Sadly, I did not find one I wanted that was affordable and remotely practical. I wish I didn't live hours away! Every city should have a hat store! This was my favorite shopping experience in Eureka Springs.

This place is under new ownership. The lady that ran it has gone (early 2022). The guy that runs it…read moreis from Houston Texas. He told us "we bought the building and they 'talked us into' buying the hat store also.." which is 100% different than the lady that used to run it. It was her passion. When we came in last time the lady didn't know us and exclaimed "You made it!!!!" And we immediately felt special and welcomed. This guy was like.. meh. We asked him if a hatbox was for sale and he kind of scoffed at us and hesitated before saying "yea it's $3000.00" Kind of got the impression he didn't think we had money. Like we weren't worth his time. The store was all set up as one room and he told us "the previous owner said she'd spend 1000 dollars every few weeks replacing hats because people touched them. I don't want to lose that money so I have it setup so you can't just touch them" Jeez. I understand not wanting to lose that money but thought it was weird he straight up said that. Like... he was protecting his hats from the people that wanted to buy them. The previous lady was like Ollivander (from Harry Potter but hats) and we were heartbroken after our experience here today. Sad. I guess things change. Either way, it wasn't magical and we were turned off by the... (service?). My wife's a real estate broker and last time we came here we bought three hats and spent a big chunk of money so we weren't just there to look around. The guy sat in the corner and just... kind of turned us off. Will forever miss the store this was. Still has nice hats. Just not the same.

My wife purchased a belt for me for Christmas and when I opened the gift, I noticed it was damaged…read more I took it to the store with the receipt to exchange it in Rogers, Arkansas. The employee refused to return it stating that he can't "resell it and make money off of it." I told him that that's not my concern or my problem. Maybe you shouldn't sell a faulty product, but you may not be able to sell it, but I definitely won't be able to wear it and I'm the paying Customer. I asked to speak to supervisor he stated he was and he's unwilling to help me. I waited in the store for 30 minutes for the store manager to finally come out and during that time I complained to corporate on the phone. The manager finally came out and was very dismissive and rude from the very beginning stating that I don't even have the correct receipt so even if she wanted to help me, she couldn't I then pointed out to her that it is the correct receipt that she can't even read her own receipts.. She then stared blankly because she knew that she was in the wrong and sounded incompetent. She then stated that they're not going to return the belt and that, even though she believed it was likely caused from their own security tag that they had on the belt I "should have noticed that at checkout" and they would've either offered me a discount or found another one instead, but because I'm trying to return it, it does not apply because they can't resell it even though she stated that it was caused from her own security device. The belt is completely unworn and brand new and in horrible condition if I wear it, it's going to only deteriorate further She advised that corporate can't force her to do anything and that she's refusing to return anything or to help in anyway, but stated that I can try to go to their website and work out and exchange with corporate, but I would be responsible to pay shipping I told her that that's not how we're gonna do things they're gonna exchange it or I'm gonna file a charge back and that's when she stated I'm not allowed to file a charge back with my bank . The staff that work in these stores are clearly uneducated and young and don't know how to talk to customers or understand how they chargeback works, but I've already filed a charge back with my bank and am never going to shop at Cavender's ever again due to these two awful employees at Roger's location. After being completely ignored for close to an hour while I searched for a pair of boots, I left a pair of boots for my daughter sitting at the register and walked out the door because apparently it wasn't worth their time to ring us up.
